Exclusive 'Fringe' video: Cast reflects on Olivia/Peter romance, and the show's endgame

Categories: Comic-Con, Fringe, Scoop

cc10-fringeContrary to popular opinion, I don’t have to get violently pantsed or viciously gang tackled to enjoy myself during an interview. Sometimes all I need is stimulating conversation with smart and passionate actors. Case in point: My exclusive sit-down with Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, and John Noble was short on unprovoked assaults and long on insightful discourse regarding Fringe‘s ambitious season 3 conceit, the pace of Peter and Olivia’s romance, and the complicated father-son bond at the heart of the show. Long story short: It’s one of my favorite interviews of Con ’10. READ FULL STORY »

Exclusive: 'Damages' execs on moving to DirecTV and the Patty/Ellen twist that kicks off season 4

Categories:

damagesImage Credit: Craig Blankenhorne/FXNow that the initial burst of excitement surrounding DirecTV’s two-season pickup of Damages is fading, it’s time to take a closer look at the deal’s fine print: Will the ex-FX drama have to alter its unique formula in an effort to pull in more viewers? Will the show’s producers be forced to make do with a smaller budget? And what’s next for Patty (Glenn Close) and Ellen (Rose Byrne)? Damages EPs Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler, and Daniel Zelman tackled those three questions and about four or five others. READ FULL STORY »

Exclusive 'Chuck' video: Scoop on the show's lighter, funnier, sexier fourth season

Categories: Chuck, Comic-Con, Scoop

comic-con-2010-chuckSitting down to interview the cast of Chuck is not unlike opening a box of chocolates: You never know what you’re gonna get. With regard to my Q&A with Zachary Levi, Joshua Gomez, and Ryan McPartlin at Comic-Con over the weekend, what I got was some season 4 scoop (bumps ahead for Chuck and Sarah!), multiple Betty White references (cameo?), and lots of gratuitous sex.. talk. Enjoy! READ FULL STORY »

Exclusive 'Glee' video: Hilarity ensues after cast drops major-ish season 2 spoilers!

comic-con-gleeIf I had a dime for every time a Glee clubber told me the show is like one big happy family I’d have, like, a good $9.80. But here’s a shocker: I think it’s actually true! Don’t take my word for it though. Watch my interview with the majority of the show’s cast (conducted Saturday at Comic-Con) and see for yourself. Aside from a healthy dose of camaraderie, the clip also features scoop on Kurt’s boyfriend (the plot’s been delayed!) Brittany’s big episode (Heather Morris already channeling Ms. Spears!), and the upcoming wedding that has everyone talking. (And by talking I mean scratching their heads in utter confusion.) Enjoy! Emmy predix: Who will win best lead and supporting actor in a comedy?

emmy-comedy-actorImage Credit: Sonja Fleming/CBS; Patrick Ecclesine/Fox; Bob D'Amico/ABC; Justin Lubin/NBCHere’s where my 2010 Emmy handicapping starts to get interesting. And by interesting I mean challenging. And by challenging I mean tough. And by tough I mean damn near impossible. All 12 of the nominees in the best lead and supporting actor comedy races can easily make a case for winning come Aug. 29. But only two will. So it’s with great fear and trepidation that I present you with part 3 of my pre-Emmy analysis. READ FULL STORY »

Comic-Con video: 'Community' crew gang tackles EW reporter, spoils season premiere

Categories: Comic-Con, Community, Scoop

cc10-communityThe Community cast kicks serious ass—and no, I’m not referring to their considerable comedy chops. They literally kicked my ass earlier today at Comic-Con. Luckily, I got what I needed out of them—season 2 spoilers, natch—before things turned violent. In related news, I’m bringing my rape whistle to San Diego next year. READ FULL STORY »

'V' season two: More details on the visitors, and we'll meet Anna's mom!

Categories: On the Scene, Television

Producers promised to uncover a lot more mysteries about ABC’s V – like what the visitors really look like, how long they’ve been here, and what the heck they want from us – in the new season of the drama that’ll return in November. During today’s panel at Comic Con, executive producer Scott Rosenbaum acknowledged that “not as many cards were turned over” last season, so he hopes to share a lot more about the visitors under Anna’s leadership, including how their extended stay has changed world events and why they’re planning to stick around.

“It will be chock full of great reveals,” Rosenbaum promises.

He also teased that Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) will look for the nurturing she’s not receiving from mother Anna (Morena Baccarin) by developing a closer relationship with Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell), while Tyler (Logan Huffman) will return the favor by saddling up with Anna. Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mom, Diana, in the first episode; through her, viewers will see where the visitors came from, Rosenbaum says. Word is the producers are talking to Jane Badler, the original alien baddie in the 1983 version of V, but Rosenbaum would not confirm on stage at Comic Con.

'The Event': Should NBC market it as TV's next big mythology?

Categories: Comic-Con, Television

eventImage Credit: Dean Hendler/NBCUp until Comic-Con, NBC has been oh-so careful to control the flow of information about its new high-concept drama The Event: Members of the press were only allowed to see it during special screenings — no early DVDs were distributed — and journalists were expected to keep mum about the show’s surprise ending. Today at Comic-Con, the network screened the full-length pilot from creator Nick Wauters (The 4400) in hopes that the fanboys would keep the ending to themselves, and yet pontificate madly about what caused that shock-and-awe moment in those final minutes.

What is this, the next Heroes or Flashforward?   READ FULL STORY »

Scoop: Alfred Molina joins 'Law & Order: Los Angeles'

alfred-molinaImage Credit: Mike Coppola/WireImageTHIS JUST IN: Alfred Molina has just sealed a deal to join Law & Order: Los Angeles as Deputy D.A. Morales. “I am thrilled that Fred is LOLA‘s Deputy DA,” said L&O boss Dick Wolf in a statement. “He joins a remarkable list of some of America’s greatest character actors like Sam Waterston, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jeff Goldblum, Steven Hill, Dianne Wiest, and Michael Moriarty as stars of Law & Order-branded series.” Molina is the second major LOLA hire. As I reported earlier this month, Skeet Ulrich has been tapped to play one of the two lead detectives.
