Scoop: 'Warehouse 13' hails 'Taxi' driver Judd Hirsch

judd-hirschImage Credit: http://ewinsidetv.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/judd-hirsch_320.jpgConsider this an early Hanukkah present: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Warehouse 13 has hired Taxi Emmy winner Judd Hirsch to play Artie’s estranged father in the Syfy smash’s first-ever stand-alone holiday episode. But wait, there’s more…

The Gates‘ Paul Blackthorne also appears in the hour as a workaholic who runs afoul of a thief with a Santa fetish.

And, while we’re on the subject of the most wonderful time of year, Eureka has also announced its seasonal stunt-casting: SNL alum Chris Parnell. Here, 30 Rock’s Dr. Spacemen will play a Global Dynamics scientist who endangers more than the office Christmas party when one of his experiments goes, to put it mildly, awry.

No air dates for either eppy yet, but since it’s what, 104 degrees outside? It’ll be a while before they’re on.

In the meantime, though, feel free to share your thoughts below. Preferably your thoughts about Warehouse 13 and Eureka, but hey, I’m not particular.

I think this is great casting. Now please give him something important to do in the story. W13 tends to bring on guests and then just have them walk around. It is an odd (and costly) way to do business!

  • Michelle

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bruce_F

They should just let Parnell play Dr. Spaceman on Eureka.

  • hello

Now it makes sense, so guess this is episode 13 and it won’t air until December

Judd Hirsch should be a hoot playing opposite Artie! Can’t wait! Great show. And just LOVE Eureka! Watch it over and over and delight in all the little nuances.

  • GimplyGump ☺

If Judd Hirsch plays Artie’s father, does that mean Artie is going to upload a virus into an alien armada and save the world?

  • Dan

His dad, huh? I would’ve guessed older brother, being they’re only 13 years apart in age. But hey, if Connery can play Ford’s father…

    • GimplyGump ☺

Maybe his dad got a little frisky with his cougar-mom when he was 12. He didn’t want anything to do with his son, which lead to the estrangment. Nahh, then the show would have to be on CW for that to happen. ;-)

    • Luminosity

I also thought they would be brothers. Being Artie’s Dad seems a bit of a stretch unless they plan to “age” Judd.

    • AJ

      Could be time travel, too.

  • Mikaylah

It seriously makes me so happy when you post Syfy news and spoilers. Thanks!

    • Rob

      Totally agree! Keep it coming!

  • DetJane

I love Judd Hirsch! He was one of the best things about Numb3rs, other than David Krumholtz’s hair. Haha, looking forward to seeing him onscreen again!

Judd + Saul should be the best meaning of the word cracky.

  • Gord

I really enjoy both of these shows. The only show on the major networks that has the same great creative flare as Eureka and Warehouse 13 is Chuck.

    • kek

      Agree with you completely.

  • Serious Gleek

LOVE LOVE LOVE both Eureka and Warehouse 13. And loved the “crossover” episodes last week with Fargo and Claudia. MORE OF THOSE PLEASE :)

    • Imzadia

DITTO, to everything you said. I’m totally In Love and Devoted to these two SyFy series. I find every quirky, geeky-genius character to be utterly interesting and absolutely FUN to watch. Also, I enjoy the ‘crossover’ episodes. There were a couple of episodes from the 1st season, too, with EUREKA’s “Henry, Jo, and Zane” guest starring. I hope both shows will reap TV Longevity.

  • WatchesEverything

I thought Artie was supposedly older than meets the eye?

  • TVDIVA

Love me some Eureka and Warehouse 13. And the Claudia/Fargo crossover episodes were fun. I hope they do more of that with other cast members.

  • me

Excellent. The Dresden Files reunion with Paul Blackthorne (Harry Dresden), and Joanne Kelly (Bianca).

  • Mel

Its gonna be Crazy Fun this holiday season :D
