CBS' new show 'The Talk' bows Oct. 18

Tags: News

CBS announced today that its new daily daytime talk show The Talk will premiere Monday, Oct. 18. The show promises to examine topical events and contemporary issues through the eyes of six female co-hosts who have children. They are Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

The show will tape before a studio audience. Gilbert helped to develop the show. The talk show replaces As the World Turns, which will go off the air in September.

    Is this the view?

    • Karen

      Sounds like it.

  • Iakovos

I would so prefer more time in Oakdale with the ATWT family. Yes, this is very VIEW-ish. No, I am not sure I want to spend an hour a day with these particular celbrity moms. CBS was considering reviving PYRAMID or PASSWORD. I’d have liked that more than THE TALK.

    • TD

Ditto. We don’t need another View

    • Buzz

what i really want to know is what are they doing with the ATWT studio building in Brooklyn?
converting to condos or what? Anyone know?

  • hannah

Bethenny Frankel was supposed to be on the show but Bravo wouldn’t let her do it. Too bad

    • TD

Darn she would have been good on a show like this. Sharon Osbourne and Holly maybe not.

      • Tommy

I had been wondering why Bethenny was no longer on the show. Too bad Bravo wouldn’t let her. It’s probably for the best though. This is one boring group of women.

      • tz

sharon Osbourne is great and this show will do good. people will watch to see how other people feel about world issues

  • JJ

Wow…this sounds pretty awful. I can see having ONE hollywood actress on the panel but FIVE?! They may have achieved a nice balance with ethnic diversity but the age and background piece is all the same. How does a suburban mom relate to a Hollywood Mom with sitcoms, tv commercials, broadway starring roles, etc in their past?
I know that Gilbert brings a needed gay perspective and Peete has a child with special needs but Julie Chen is the only news person on the panel with a more global perspective.

Too generic. Remini is annoying, Osbourne is on tv too much already (and botox), Marissa Janet I’m seeing the draw and overall SIX PANELISTS is far far too much.

Who will be their Debbie Matenopoulus and get fired first?

Frankel would’ve been a great addition and why not people like Leslie Stahl, Meghan McCain, Rachel Campos-Duffy etc.

    • Buzz

Remini: scientologist , uh, not that there is anything wrong with that, I suppose. Except that she probably can’t address anything( positive or negative) related to it contractually , I’d guess ( so it won’t be a no holds barred situation) what could be more entertaining than a weekly skirmish over the merits and/or lack there of of scientology ?!

  • Ap

Six people? Will it all be at the same time? It’s tough for the ladies of The View to get their points in and there’s only five of them and most of the time Barbara isn’t there.

  • jerzeegirl

    6 female co-hosts? What’s plan B?

  • HR

Just curious..What will CBS air in that time slot for the 4 weeks between the finale of ATWT and the debut of the talk show?

    • Steve

That’s what I’d like to know.

  • Gigohead

Not sure if folks need to a crop of overpaid celebrities chirping about day to day life. Julie Chen is so robotic. I like Marissa Winokur, she’s very bubbly, but for her to discuss pressing issues is not where I want to see her.

  • Steve

So what will CBS air in the interim? ATWT ends on September 17 and The Talk doesn’t commence until October 18.

    • Steve

I just checked my local listings, it looks like CBS will air reruns of The Price Is Right in that time slot until The Talk begins.

  • Danielle

It’s probably going to be repeats of TPIR and/or LMAD I’d guess. September 17 is going to be one of the saddest and most emotional days in TV history, no doubt.

  • Mozilla

I would if people turned down a chance to be on this show. I would have wanted to see the likes of Danya Devon, Emma Caulfield, Naomi Wolf, Tracy Smith, Laurie Dhue, and Sheryl Crow.

I forgave CBS last year because they replaced Guiding Light with a revival of the megapopular Let’s Make A Deal. However, this year I won’t be so forgiving because they’re replacing As The World Turns with another talk show. When “The Talk” premieres, CBS is going to lose at least one viewer at 2pm eastern because I’m not watching it.

  • Mia

hmmmm… are any of these women conservative? If not they will lose half the women in the USA before the show starts.

    • tz

women like these will show everyday people that it ok to be out of the box,and if the conservative women next to you doesnt feel the same way as you its still ok to be you

  • tonetone

so how long before sharon gets fired? I’d say after 4 shows
