It’s a date I’m anticipating with both excitement and dread: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Friday Night Lights‘ fifth and final season is slated to debut on DirecTV on Oct. 27. Someone hold me.

And so that is the day from which I will measure my TV life in a 13 week period. And fade to black. Sob.
Will it ever be aired on NBC on regular cable?
It darn well better because that’s what I’m assuming will happen. I’d be disappointed to hear it wouldn’t air on NBC at least by next summer, but may just up and buy the complete DVD set anyway.
NBC won’t show it now that the were nominated for the emmys, it is to good for NBC
Well, they have shown it since it’s been nominated.
It’s not too good for NBC.
Im mad Lyla doesn’t return
Me too, me too!
Thanks. By the way, in your Parenthood article, you have the wrong date for its premiere – season 2 starts on September 14th, not 21st.
The beginning of the end. *jears*
I’ll miss so much FNL!! Such a pity it has to end.
So for us non-DirectTV folks, we’ll get to see the final season sometime in the Spring? *Sob.
Carrie, NBC’s premiere week begins Sept. 20. “Parenthood” returns on the 21st.
Can’t wait to FINALLY start watching “Friday Night Lights” DVDs … although I hear ABC Family will start airing repeats this fall.
nope parenthood was bumped up a week to the 14th so that it’s premiere could recieve a boost from america’s got talent’s finale
Yes, what Bee said!!! NBC is premiering Parenthood a week early. It will begin September 14th.
So glad that ABC Family is airing the first four seasons starting this fall. We can re-live every moment. *sobs*
I’m so glad you mentioned this b/c I had no clue ABC Family was doing this. I had some free time this past weekend and saw Season 4′s last 4 episodes on-demand. Made me wish I had caught this show from the beginning.
I’ll def watch the reruns on ABC Family. Thanks for the info, Briana!
I had no idea ABC Family was doing that! Now I’m even more upset my school doesn’t have ABC Family!!
Tears just came to my eyes. I recently rewatched the first 4 seasons in a row… BEST…SHOW…EVER! Part of me thinks there is a place in TX that I could visit and see the Taylors and the Riggins. The characters and stories were so real. I’m going to miss them all for sure. AND…no DirecTV for me…so who knows when I’ll see the 5th season!
Eva I actually was on a business trip in Austin, TX and decided to look up FNL locations on Google, since the show always thanks Austin TX in the credits. I found “Dillon High” – an old abandoned high school, and even found my way into the Panther locker room. Talk about surreal. One of the greatest days ever!
I hope they lighten it up a bit. Season 4 was more depressing than the new Battlestar Galatica. And that show started with the near genocide of the human race.
It is hard not to be sad but I’m trying to focus on that fact that we did get 5 seasons of this wonderful show. We could have just had one.
WOO HOO!! DirecTV RULES!!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Michael Ausiello is a self-involved prick.
feel the exact same way as you do ausiello. so excited, but dreading it at the same time. suchhhh an incredible show.
