Exclusive: 'iCarly' fades to (Jack) Black

Jack Black has signed on to guest-star in an episode of Nickelodeon’s kiddie phenom, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Black—who twice hosted Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards (in 2006 and 2008)—will play Spencer’s (Jerry Trainor) videogame nemesis, Aspartamay. The rivals come face-to-face at the show’s version of Comic-Con, Webicon.

The episode goes before the cameras this week and is slated to air later this season.

In related news, this is my second iCarly story this summer. I’m broadening my base!

I am FIRST FIRST FIRST – bow down before me

Congratulations. You were the first to post about 2 things your average Ausiello reader doesn’t give a crap about — Jack Black & iCarly.

Oh, and Michael, if you’re doing background info for your post, you probably should’ve mentioned that Black and Cosgrove starred in School of Rock together and that probably had something to do with this casting.

    • lyrica56

that’s exactly the first thing i thought! COOL!

  • Melissa

I may be old, but I love this show. My daughter watches it and I don’t mind watching either. Its hilarious.

    • Andrea

I’m out of this show’s demographic too, but boy do I love it.

      • lorraine

So True, I think its one of the few shows meant for a younger demo that I actually enjoy watching

    • Cat

me too! my kids love this show. Also, I must say Phineas and Ferb is another hysterical kid based show!

      • RJ

Glad I’m not the only one :) Love ICarly and Phineas and Ferb. Victorious is starting to grow on me too.

      • yepyep

I’m 38 and still back and watch the show the my youngest daughter, we laugh at the same parts too, lol.

Now I have that new Miranda Cosgrove song stuck in my head.

    • Bruce_F

      She has a song?

      • JohnificationLivesInHisMomsBasement

Yeah, it’s called “When I’m Kissing You” or something like that.
It’s like a really, cheesy Miley Cryus throwaway track.

  • jd

This is super cute- a Miranda Cosgrove/ Jack Black reunion!

  • lalala

What? No mention of School of Rock?

    • abby

I thought the exact same thing. Get your head in the game, Ausiello!

  • Betty

Great news. They were cute together in School of Rock and icarly is a fun show.

  • Nick

Jack’s broadening his TV resume; he was on “Community” last season.

    • Monty

…and don’t forget The Office th year before!

    • Liz

he was also on Yo Gabba Gabba last year as well.

    • maggie

      lol liz

  • JohnificationLivesInHisMomsBasement

Jerry Trainor AND Jack Black on one show?
Can you get anymore annoying than that?

    • Johnification

Really? I bother you THAT much?

      • Jersey Jeff

You bother me even more than that

      • JohnificationLivesInHisMomsBasement

Haha.I didn’t realize I kept that name. That was from awhile ago and I don’t even remember what it was for.
Anywho, Jerry Trainor is too much of a Jim Carrey wannabee.

      • Johnification

Ok. If it makes you feel better, go for it. And welcome to the boards!

  • Michael Collado

It’s not his fault iCarly is the number one show on cable! Oh, who am I kidding trying to insult the show I watch it too!

  • asdf

Is it in Ausiello’s contract that every pointless boring post he writes has to appear as EW’s lead story on the homepage?

    • Matt

I think it is also written in there that all stories must be “EXCLUSIVE” even if reported earlier by someone else.

  • quagmire

Come on Ausiello! Get with it! How can you not bring up School of Rock?

  • Doug

I watch it with my kids too. It’s a good show. Jack Black is a kick.

  • loop

iCarly is probably the only good kids show right now. It is actually funny and well written unlike hannah montana. YAY JAcK Black!!

    • Corrine

Disagree. I enjoy Wizards of Waverly Place almost as much as iCarly. Also, Victorious (another Schneider’s Bakery production) is getting there. I also enjoy the campiness of Big Time Rush.

      • belledejeu

I agree, I’m a mom to 7 year old twins and I thought iCarly was the only good kids show out there but I’ve recently discovered Wizards of Waverly Place. Victorious is not bad either but not as good as the other two.

  • Elizabeth

I love “Aspartamay”… made me giggle a little.
