Capt. Phil Harris memorialized in ... corn?

Phil Harris from Discovery’s Deadliest Catch has taken an intriguing turn in Tumwater, Wa: the owners of Rutledge Corn Maze have created a giant tribute to the Cornelia Marie captain. The massive maze shows out an outline of his face and includes the name of his boat. To see the maze, click here.

The herculean effort has certainly drawn the attention of Harris’ sons Jake and Josh, who have apparently agreed to attend the maze’s grand opening on Sept. 11, according to the website.

The seventh season of Deadliest Catch will begin in the spring. In October, Jake and Josh Harris are expected to spread their father’s ashes at sea with the other boat captains. The somber moment will be included in next season’s premiere episode.

Has anyone heard if Josh & Jake will get to keep the Cornelia Marie?

Phil was co-owner of the boat. I am sure there were provisions in his will for the boys to take over in the same capacity

matkojapan – Thanks. I did not know that. Pretty cool that there is an actual Cornelia Marie. Would have never done the research without your post.

My understanding is that Phil did not own the Cornelia Marie, so it is not a function of them keeping the boat. I understood that Josh was makng an effort to buy the boat.

This is the collest corn maze I have ever seen. Certainly dwarfs any in my area of the country.

Phil owned half the Cornelia Marie, I think Josh & Jake are trying to buy it all. Just wondered how it’s going for them.
