Watch AMC's super spooky 'Walking Dead' trailer!

AMC has announced that its highly anticipated new serial thriller The Walking Dead will premiere with a special 90-minute episode on—how perfect is this—Halloween night! Wait, the news gets better: The mind-blowing trailer—which made its debut last month at Comic-Con—is embedded after the jump. I don’t recommend watching it alone!

I don’t care about this, but I am first which is what is important.

    • From Mom’s Basement

      You sir, are an idiot.
First of all idiots at that.

    • Jersey Jeff

Hey don’t call W0NK042 an idiot, thats not nice. He just has some challenges.

    • kgb

I can say the same thing about your comment.

      • Jersey Jeff

So you agree that being first is important?

      • Skip182

        hahaha

      • harry

        LOL!!!

    • joe

Jersey Jeff, you are an idiot and a tool.

      • dusen

Actually I think you are the idiot for not recognizing Jeff’s dry wit.

Normally I hate “First!” comments but this one was clever. Kudos Jeff!

      • Garry

Me too, I admire Jersey Jeff for keeping it real.

    • meliot

Jersey Jeff since you love being first, I’m glad your not my BF!

    • esquirrel

cause you’re from “jersey”. go back to the jersey shore, you meathead.

  • conqueror

this looks great, frank daramont is amazing

    • Bob

Show looks incredible. I’m so excited

  • JMaG

Looks dope. Will be watching this. Just hope it is better than Rubicon.

    • Craig

Rubicon is pretty slow, but I like it so far.

Walking Dead does look amazing though.

    • Miranda

it would be hard for it to be worse than “Rubicon.” I’m excited about this one.

    • Britt

      Dope? Holy mid-90s flashback.

  • Gregg

Yeah why would you want to watch this when you can watch original & unique shows like CSI (whatever) or Law In Order (does it really matter).

  • Henry

Hmm. Great producer/director team. They could have found a more original opening than ripping “28 Days Later” off. Waking up in an empty, ravaged hospital after being in a coma? Just not into zombie movies. There’s at least one released in the theaters every year and they’re all the same.

    • Marco

That is how the COMIC begins. Read it before spouting out.

      • kgb

The question is, which came first, the comic or 28 days later?

      • tlo

Day Of The Triffids did this opening first, long before either project. Walking Dead and 28 Days Later came out around the same time, like within a few months of each other, so I doubt that either stole from the other. Most likely, they were both paying homage to Triffids.

      • K8

I had the same question and apparently Walking Dead came first by a few months. I am a 1/3 done the books and very excited for this show to start.

      • dusen

I’m pretty sure 28 days later came first – it was released in the UK in 2002, Walking Dead was published in 2003.

In any case, similar beginnings aside, it’s a great series and is still going strong 7 years later.

      • Matt

28 Days Later did come first, the author of TWD mentioned this in the notes at the end of the first issue. It was a coincidence.

    • Johnsoe8

I thought the same thing. But it still seems good.

    • Shotgunshogun

If The Walking Dead is ripping 28 Days Later off, does that mean 28 Days Later is ripping off Night Of The Living Dead?

    • onbey

      agreed!

  • Pillbox

    A zombie series! How original!!!!

    • Rusty Shackleford

I agree, I was expecting something different. Lame. Please no more movies involving Vampires, Werewolves, or Zombies.

      • Paco

Last time I checked, there are no other series right now about zombies so yes… it is original.

      • Matt

Agreed. I dont know if the first comment was sarcastic or not, but really, name the last zombie related tv series. Im excited!!! (no sarcasm)

      • Uncle Gabby

He said say no more movies, not tv shows. Doesn’t make a difference, all those genres have been done to death.

      • Dave

What genres hasn’t been done to death? Lets make another WW2 movie. Another secret agent movie. The fact is that Vampires and Werewolves are in. Zombies on the other hand don’t really have the ”
in” factor that the other 2 have. I love the comic and excited for this. I think a zombie series is just an amazing thing. Can’t wait. And if you don’t like the idea, don’t watch it.

      • Felicia

Is there any genre not done to death? How many police procedurals are on TV again? Let those of us who like this kind of thing enjoy it and the rest of you, just don’t watch. Just saying.

      • Matt

This isn’t a zombie TV series, it’s a story about a man and his family. The end of the world is just a device used to tell the story. Just like The Road and countless other films, books, comics and TV series.

      • Michael Scarborough

What about blood sucking wolves that rise from the dead?

    • Big Walt

I agree. Kind of sick of zombies and vampires but I have to say this looks good.

    • tlo

How many editions of CSI are there? Law&Order? Hospital dramas? Lawyer shows? Office comedies? Almost all concepts have been done to death, for over 60 years in some cases. The trick is to make a quality show, even something as tired as a show about a law firm can be great if done well. If I didn’t watch shows that have settings that have been done before, I wouldn’t be watching tv. The source material is fantastic, and Darabont has done great work before, so give it a shot, I know I will.

      • steve

thank you tlo for using your brain.

      • suki

“thank you for using your brain” before the zombies eat it!

    • Gregg

I agree TV is inundated with Zombie shows right now. There’s ?????

      • Big Walt

Not on TV but relatively speaking there’s been a lot of movies (and books) in the last few years.

  • KB

Is it just me or does this look exactly like 28 Days Later??

    • heybuddyreviews,com

The opening scene of the graphic novel is what inspired 28 Days Later.

      • steve

that is horribly inaccurate. walking dead came out in 2003. 28 days later in 2002. unless alex garland and danny boyle had a time machine to look into the future of zombie comics, its impossible for Walking Dead to have inspired 28 days later. In truth, they were both being constructed at the same time and its merely a coincidence. That’s according to both parties.

    • Dave

If you read the comic, it is nothing like 28 Days later.

  • IMPEACH OBAMA

This mini-series is a warning of what will become of our great nation should the One-Termer win in 2012!!

    • MB

Republicans are already brain-dead zombies, so what’s the alternative?

      • kgb

These zombies are even smarter than republicans it appears.

    • who cares

      idiot

    • jack hart

where were u when bush was in bed with the saudis? .. racial much??

    • Shotgunshogun

O.k. I could at least see some relevance when you were decrying True Blood, but The Walking Dead? Go back to your cave troll.

    • shirc223

I love this. Keep shouting your drivel while America gets more and more sick of you. You are doing wonders for your party.

  • Jackal

That was a mind blowing trailer? It’s a show about Zombies, oh excuse me, Walkers…lol…oh, and it was a virus, how original. Are you kidding me?

    • darclyte

The guy says that the Government said that they thought that it was a virus. That doesn’t mean it really WAS a virus.

  • Evan

Could there BE any more posts complaining about the show? I mean really, why post at all if you’re not interested? Seems like some people here need to find a new hobby. :)

The comic is excellent, I cannot WAIT until this series starts!!!

    • Jackal

Was there a disclaimer at the top claiming only positive comments are allowed in the comment section?
Some people need a new hobby? This coming from a guy who reads comic books.

      • Evan

I’m actually a woman, but you’re right, there isn’t a comment saying only post positive things. I just don’t understand the point in paying any attention to something you don’t support. *shrugs* I guess that’s just me, and that’s totally fine.

      • Fatima

        Ew, you’re gross.

      • Uncle Gabby

        Evan, it’s called feedback.

      • Shotgunshogun

If only I didn’t have to read this same tired exchange every time I went looking through comments.

    • Skip182

Look at me, I’m Evan. Could I BE wearing any more clothes?

  • Steve

You know, I saw this at Comic-Con already… and I still get thrilled by it. Looking forward to this (and to the haters, pick up the graphic novels – some reading will do you good anyway)!

    • Jackal

Doesn’t change that it’s about zombies. Really? Haters? Are people still using that as a comeback? Sad that it seems your main source of reading is graphic novels.

      • Paco

whats wrong with it being about zombies? Its the first tv show that has zombies as a subject matter. Shows about cops, doctors, hospitals… those are the original shows everybody wants it seems.

      • Erin

So what if someone’s main source of reading is graphic novels? Have you seen what the genre has to offer these days?

      • Steve

Let’s see, Watchmen (the book was way better than the movie), Maus, The Walking Dead, American Splendor… comic books aren’t just about superheroes. Methinks Jackal has a problem with zombies – well at least it’s something different than the usual procedurals/medical programs/reality shows that are flooding the airwaves. And judging from the people with me in a fully crowded panel for The Walking Dead, I’m not the only one looking forward to this show.

FYI – I read more than graphic novels; in fact, I just finished reading Lee Child’s “Tripwire” and am slowly working my way through the rest of the Reacher novels. Can you say the same?

      • hutchy

So you hated Road To Perdition? Iron Man? Scott Pilgrim? Spider Man? American Splendor? Ghost World? Watchmen? All drawn from Graphic Novels.

      • Dave

I am not much of a reader. This comic got my full interest because of how in depth it is and how sucked in you get when you read.

Also, the show isn’t going to be exactly like the comic. The director having the skill with movies that he does is allow to have a large amount of freedom to move the show in certain direction as long has he stays within the The Walking Dead story.

      • Matt

Check out the film, A History of Violence; great work and it started as a graphic novel. Also, judging something because of one trait (zombies) will cause a person to miss out on a lot, I mean, who didn’t watch Battlestar Galactica because it was Sci-Fi? It’s just a great story.

  • Dave

You people dismissing this are clearly not familiar with the source material.

I cannot wait for this show.

  • GeekGirl13

I’m not familiar with the source material, but I am looking forward to this. Although, I’m thinking I’ll need to DVR it watch on Saturday mornings.

  • diogenes

The zombie backlash is really in full effect. I love how people rush to judgment on something they haven’t read (the source material) and have only seen a trailer for. “I don’t like zombies.” That’s like saying “I don’t like cops,” or fill-in-the-blank. Judge this based on its own merits rather than feeble preconceptions. The comic is great, has depth and if the TV series has the chance to go past the initial six episodes could take viewers in fresh and exciting directions. In fairness to the haters, though, 28 Days Later came out in 2002′ first issue of TWD 2004.

    • nick

      well said diogenes

  • Nathan

Now this is what I call good television!
