Will the pilot and Madonna episodes be enough to convince voters that Glee was the funniest show last season? We found out what episodes the shows are submitting for Emmy night’s biggest categories on Aug. 29. But first, know this: a reported 300 or so members of the TV Academy serve as judges for the two categories, though they don’t see all the episodes submitted for consideration. Six are handed over from each show, and then the judges are separated into three groups, each receiving two episodes (the show producers actually choose the pairings).
Do the voters take the time to watch all of the pairings? We sure hope so. Here are all the submissions:
Outstanding Drama
Mad Men: “My Old Kentucky Home,” “Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency,” “Seven Twenty Three,” “The Gypsy and the Hobo,” “The Grown-Ups,” “Shut the Door. Have a Seat”
Breaking Bad: “No Mas,” “Sunset,” “One Minute,” “Fly,” “Half Measures,” “Full Measure”
True Blood: “Nothing But The Blood,” “Scratches,” “Shake and Fingerpop,” “Never Let Me Go,” “I Will Rise Up,” “Frenzy”
Dexter: “Dex Takes a Holiday,” “Dirty Harry,” “Road Kill,” “Hungry Man,” “Hello, Dexter Morgan, “The Getaway”
The Good Wife: Pilot, “Threesome,” “Hi,” “Bang,” “Fleas,” “Heart”
Lost: “Dr. Linus,” “Ab Aeterno,” “Happily Ever After,” “The Substitute,” “The End – Part 1,” “The End – Part 2″
Outstanding Comedy
30 Rock: “Dealbreakers Talk Show #0001,” “Black Light Attack!,” “Anna Howard Shaw Day,” “Don Geiss,” “America and Hope,” “The Moms,” “Emanuelle Goes to Dinosaur Land”
Curb Your Enthusiasm: “Vehicular Fellatio,” “The Reunion,”“Denise Handicapped,” “The Table Read,” “The Bare Midriff,” “Seinfeld”
Glee: Pilot, “Power of Madonna,” “Wheels,” “Preggers,” “Sectionals,” “Home”
Modern Family: Pilot, “Starry Night,” “Fizbo,” “Coal Digger,” “Come Fly With Me,” “Fears”
Nurse Jackie: Pilot,” Tiny Bubbles,” “Ring Finger,” “Healthcare and Cinema,” “Apple Bong,” “Monkey Bits”
The Office: “Gossip,” “Murder” “Niagara, Parts 1 & 2″ “The Lover,” “Secret Santa”

Lost certainly doesn’t deserve anything after the Godawful seasons 5 and 6.
You shut your mouth Mike! That series finale was poetic and heartbreaking. It deserves to win.
As for Glee, talk about an overhyped show. The second half of the season sucked whereas the 1st half was good.
Modern family should AND will win best comedy.
So either Lost or Mad Men or Breaking Bad for best Drama.
And Modern Family for Best Comedy.
amen to that.
what the criticizer! snaked in. my amen to that was to mike.
Amen. The last season was awful especially the finale. Matt Fox didn`t deserve nomination because he had nothing to do last season and he is by far the weakest Emmy nominee in the leading actor category. There are many actors who should`ve got the nomination over him. The only cast member who got something to do last season and thus deserves a nom is Terry O`Quinn. Last season was his show. Other were just wandering from beach to the jungle and back.
Actually, the finale was wonderful. Excellent acting, excellent script, excellent drama. Wonderful, heartbreaking ending that certainly made me cry having just lost a family member. Matt Fox had nothing to do last season? That certainly doesn’t make any sense. His chops in the last few episodes were great. Terry O’Quinn does deserve his Emmy nomination, and certainly a win, and I will be rooting for him.
Mike, bruno, and tipsy drank a little too much hater-ade. The last season finally pulled together all the loose threads. I don’t think they’ll win (“Mad Men” has too much hype, and “Breaking Bad” had the best acting, directing, writing, and cinematography), but it wasn’t so bad.
Very surprised that “Glee” did not submit its finale… Probably my overall favorite episode!
reaaly? cuz i’m thinkin they didn’t submit the finale because…wait for it…IT WASN’T FUNNY. AT ALL. it was a melodramatic feel good fest.
Glee, what are you doing? “Wheels” and “Home?!” “Home” WAS NOT funny!! One of those episodes should have been “Vitamin D,” and after watching “Hello” again last night, that would have been a good one to submit, too.
some of the stuff they used in Journey was good for a series finale-i liked it but it was a bit of a cry fest.
I totally agree about Vitamin D. That entire episode is made of win. Same with Bad Reputation. That’s one of the only good episodes from the back 9-much better than the Madonna episode anyway.
And I’m surprised they submitted The Power of Madonna because that was the worst episode of the season. And I unfortunately agree with the criticizer up there. First half of Glee was fantastic – second half, not so much. It had it’s moments but it was believing it’s own hype too much.
The finale wasn’t eligible. In order to be submitted, it had to air before the end of May, and “Journey” aired in mid-June. Also it wasn’t funny…but neither was “Home,” so what do I know? “Funk” was more amusing, but it was also ineligible because it aired too late.
Not to nitpick, but for 30 Rock, “Don Geiss, America, and Hope” is just one episode – a quick little rearranging of quote marks will take care of it.
Thanks for clarifying- I actually was a little confused as to why it looked like there were 7 episodes of 30 Rock submitted.
let’s go modern family & LOST!
Curb Your Enthusiasm and Mad Men.
Curb (once again) had an incredibly strong season. There just seems to be no defeating Larry David. However I also enjoyed Nurse Jackie a lot, I dont know how to separate the two. But as for drama, I think Breaking Bad will win it this year for sure, the third season was just too strong. They will save the Mad Men award for the outstanding series they are currently airing. (and im saying all this as a huge lost fan).
I agree. Glee and Modern Family and even 30 Rock can’t even begin to be as genius as the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm was. What a great show. Especially the final episode, and the Jesus painting in the bathroom one (lol).
Mike is an IDIOT. He clearly doesn’t understand quality writing, acting and directing. I’ll bet his favorite show is The Simpsons!!
Hey, don’t knock the Simpsons. Even in its weakest seasons, it’s head and shoulders above most other shows. (and I don’t agree with Mike either!)
What, how can Lost not have submitted the Candidate?!
Agreed, possibly the best episode of the season. Between the deaths of Jin and Sun and the conversation bewtween Locke and Jack were Jack tells Locke: “I wish you beleived me”. Perfect episode.
Definitely the Candidate. The first episode of season six that I rewatched was the Candidate. I wish they had saved the Jack and Locke conversation for the finale
I agree – that would be my pick of the season.
Wheels is a random choice for glee…i don’t think i like it.
i’m glad they put in Preggers though. That’s an episode that will be considers “vintage glee” when either the series ends or becomes a complete caricature of itself.
How can Glee submit Pilot? It aired last May…
Also, it is kind’ve a crock only 6 episodes get judged. I now understand why 30 Rock always wins. Don’t get me wrong, I watch 30 Rock, but this season has been so badly inconsistent.
Bitter LOST fans are annoying, especially those that didn’t get the ending and answers they wanted.
For serious. It is just a show. And there will never be another show like it, so all the haters can breath easy…
How could Glee and True Blood not submit their finales? The season two finale of True Blood was one of the series’ best, and the same for Glee. Although it’s rather hard to appreciate True Blood without the weekly wait between cliffhangers.
I thought some of the episodes True Blood submitted were definitely some of their worst. Nothing But the Blood, Shake and Fingerpop and Never Let Me Go were quite ordinary. I would substitute them with Timebomb (if only for Sookie’s showdown with Lorena at Godric’s house), New World In My View and Beyond Here Lies Nothing
I’m so surprised that Modern Family didn’t submit the Valentine’s Day episode. Claire losing her dress in the escalator is one of my favorite scenes.
Lost Should have Submitted: “The Candidate” instead of “The Substitute”
Lost should have submitted “The Pubic Hair” instead of “The Vaginal Creme found in Terry’s closet when she was searching for her rabies medicine”
Comments on Glee are so accurate. It satrted great and went right donw the tubes. It will be gone after Season 2. Modern Family is the deserved winner here.
Yes wheels, pliot and sectionals are in there. Yes wheels and sectionals are some of my favourite episodes. But power of madonna, preggers and Home? They weren’t that funny seriously. Come on glee to do something like Larghitis, bad reputation or my personal favourite Showmance!
