Exclusive: 'No Ordinary Family' adopts 'Twilight' vamp Jackson Rathbone

jackson-rathboneImage Credit: Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesComing up necks for Twilight bloodsucker Jackson Rathbone: A potentially recurring role on ABC’s No Ordinary Family.

The 25-year-old actor—whose two summer films, Eclipse and The Last Airbender, collectively grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide—will play Trent Stafford, a high school classmate of Kay Panabaker telepathic Daphne. Trent was recently the victim of a home invasion robbery, and I’m guessing Daphne will join forces with her superhero parents to help catch the perp.

Rathbone last appeared on the small screen in 2009, when he guest-starred as a serial killer with multiple personalities on Criminal Minds.

N.O.F. premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

This is the only new show that looks good, after ABC cancelled pushing daisies and then eastwick I promise not to watch any ABC show, but this one looks a bit promising…

    • alice

They cancelled Ugly Betty & Samantha Who too .. :(

      • Chris

Y did U have 2 bring that up? Thanks 4 ruining my day! :(

  • Ceballos

    This news really bites!

    • Nerwen Aldarion

      LOL nice one

    • @Ceballos

      (groan)
Some might even say it sucks!

  • froste

    No it doesn’t Che.

    • Che

Haha!!! Ok froste so let’s not support ABC and never watch any new series! I still support the comeback of Pushing Daisies!!!

  • the pilot was really good, so i’m excited to see where the show goes.

    • Tess

i saw the pilot also. it was good & the show has a lot of potential.

  • ChelleBelle

He was super cute on the one or two episodes of The O.C. he was in (Season 3, dated Little Coop!)

  • Helen

This show looked stupid, but I will now be watching it obsessively. I love Jackson, he is so talented.

    • Tess

yeah, i thought it was dumb at first too. then i saw the pilot. it is like modern family & heroes combined. if you liked the pixar movie the incredibles then you might like this show.

  • Megs

I am a fan of Jackson and he’d be the only reason for me to check out this show. But playing a HS student? Really? They couldn’t get a teenage actor for the role? Personally a little tired of adults playing teen roles. Meh- I guess I hope for the best anyway.

    • steph

Adults playing teenagers is nothing new…lol, I remember the chick that played Shawn’s g/f on Boy Meets World was like 30 on the show. If they use adults, they don’t have to worry about child labor laws. Simple as that.

      • Katie

Angela! Haha she did look way too old.

  • JMaG

I watched the pilot a couple days ago, I really enjoyed it. They used that mockumentary/documentary style, which I am not always crazy about but it worked in the Pilot. I have read that they will lessen it as the show progresses, will be watching for sure

  • ADC

I was planning on checking out this show, but now I definitely will. I think Jackson is very talented, and I’m sure he’ll be great in this role.

  • Lisa

I thought vampires couldn’t be outside during the day??

    • dee

      Twilight “vampires” are ~special~ though!

  • Jeff

Hey, that’s awesome news! It makes me even more eager to discover this new show! He’ll be such a great addition to the cast!

  • Arwen

    HOT

  • Nic.

Now I have something to watch on Tuesdays :)

  • Marianne

When I first saw the previews for this show, all I thought was “Oh look Heroes 2.0″. And the prospect of Jackson Rathbone doesn’t really want to me make me watch either. Sorry.

    • Jamie

It is not Heroes 2.0. One major difference is they are not sitting around doing nothing with their powers or causing global disasters. They are going to be using their powers to actually fight crime & help people.

      • g

How lame! The pilot stank, too. This one is a dog.
