Contrary to what you may have heard, I most certainly did not tell Glenn Close to take a flying leap when we spoke Friday at the 2010 Entertainment Weekly and Women in Film pre-Emmy shindig. However, amid talk of Damages‘ series-saving move to DirecTV—and the new freedoms said move has given the show’s writers—she did contemplate taking the plunge. WTH am I going on about? Press play to find out.

I adore this woman. Glenn Close is so utterly brilliant on Damages. She really is the best actress on TV. It’s awesome that she has won the Emmy two years in a row for her role as Patty on Damages. She honestly deserves to win tonight as well, but it’ll probably go to Juliana Margulies. Anyway, I am so excited for the next two seasons of Damages so I can see Glenn Close mesmerize me once again.
I’m so happy the show was saved. Damages is easily the best legal drama/mystery series on TV right now, and it’s a shame it doesn’t have a bigger audience.
Can I just say how unfunny I find Ausiello these days? This pseudo-pseudo-self-absorption crap (translation for the impaired: he’s pretending to pretend to be self-absorbed – meaning he really is) is so tired and ugly. The mocking, sneering tone he uses in the Ask Ausiello feature is just one manifestation of some deeper issue, I’m sure. Is it honestly that hard just to be nice? Why do you feel it’s necessary to be a jerk in order to “brand” yourself? Is that what it’s about?
To be honest, i kinda agree. I have always been a big fan, but of late AskAusiello has almost been offensive. There seems to be a separation between ‘tv fans’ and ‘Him’.
Agreed! Ausiello is almost becoming Perez Hilton-lite, yuck!
Definitely. Ausiello has just been getting snarkier with every post. His jokes aren’t funny, ever.
Her Patty Hewes is such a terrifying, brilliant, manipulative, horrible, yet somehow sympathetic character- and the fact that Glenn Close can play all those emotions at the same time just amazes me every episode. I hope she wins again, because as much as I like Julianne Margulies, I find her character just a bit too one-note and cold, with too much held back.
I agree with Mirrener, although “The Good Wife” is a good show, the characters are pretty boring and one-note. I hope Glenn wins!
If Damages was picked up by DirecTV, will another network show it besides them? I don’t have DirecTV. Hope so!!
Thank you for asking the question that’s been on my lips since it was announced that the show was coming back.
I do hope DISH will carry it ~ or I will buy the episodes each week!!
Unfortunately, Damages will only air on DirecTV’s 101 Network. They have the exclusive rights to the show now. The episodes will not be airing on FX or anywhere else. It’s unfortunate for fans of the show who do not subscribe to DirecTV, but it’s better than nothing. DVDs should eventually be released.
but how long after the 4th season airs? if there is too much of a delay before the next season starts and then an even longer delay for the dvds to be released – well, the old saying, out of sight, out of mind could apply to a lot of people who will have lost interest during that time frame — or people who can’t simply afford to purchase/rent dvds – only basic cable
What a lady. And an amazing actress.
Glenn deserves to win tonight. And so does Rose Byrne.
And it’s a shame that Damages didn’t get a nomination for Best Drama Series. I found the third season better than the second!
I agree! Season 3 was fantastic and it should have been nominated for Best Drama. One of the very best shows on TV.
any chance a major network will get the show? Sorry I don’t have cables argh..Love Ms Close, an amazing actress.
BRING BACK NIP/TUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so so happy that Damages got picked up for 2 more seasons. Unfortunately, I don’t have Directv, so I’ll have to pay for each ep. or wait until the dvds come out. Congrats to the cast of Damages, but a bummer for me.
With As the World Turns ending, I think that the writers of Damages should create a role for Elizabeth Hubbard. To see Glenn Close and Elizabeth Hubbard go to battle would be a dream come true. Plus, the world needs to have Elizabeth Hubbard actively employed.
