When I asked Law & Order: SVU superstars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni if they thought their characters should hook up during the show’s upcoming 12th and possibly final season, I did not expect the randy pair to actually preview said hookup—and on the Emmy red carpet, no less. Not that I was complaining, mind you. My follow-up question provoked an even more shocking reaction, but not from them, from their publicist, who was so incensed with my line of questioning that he ripped them away from me mid-Q&A. And just like that, a legendary interview was born. Enjoy!

I know they must do this a lot for tv and their many fans,but I seriously do wonder what each of their respective spouses think of the way CM &MH ham it up for the cameras whenever possible.I know she commented that she worked with Vera Wang to duplicate her wedding dress feel and look, as it is her anniversary- just not to CM!They are really either unbelievable actors- or seriously in love with each other.They both have families and kids, too.Even if this is the last season for SVU- they both indicate a hook up will never happen. I enjoy them on their show but maybe it’s time to pull back and put things in perspective.

Mariska Hargitay met her husband on the show; he regularly plays one of the snarky defense lawyers. I think it’s simply good acting/chemistry. I would love if they wrapped up the series with them getting together; but not if it was done in a sappy way.
And I see Christ Meloni with his totally cute family running around in Tribeca all the time looking happy as can be. So I don’t think their spouses feel too bad about it.
LOLOLOL These two are NOT in love with each other – on the show nor in real life!! The chemistry they share on screen is good but I have never seen anything romantic or sexual in the reaction between the two characters

HOT HOT HOT. i wish they would, so the fans could see it, but i agree that while Olivia may pine, Elliot wouldn’t cheat on his wife and 5 kids.
First, Olivia is not the only one who pines in that relationship. Second, she would never betray Elliot’s wife and children because she respects them. Unless they give us the romance in a dream sequence, we will never see it.
Olivia is the only one interested in having a sexual relationship with Elliot. He is not interested in her that way and never has been.
