Exclusive: Sharon Lawrence moves to 'One Tree Hill'

one-tree-hill-austinImage Credit: Michael Desmond/The CW; inset: John M. Heller/Getty ImagesLook out, Brooke: Your monster-in-law is coming to town—and she wants to plan your wedding!

NYPD Blue‘s Sharon Lawrence is headed to One Tree Hill for multiple episodes as Julian’s (Austin Nichols) never-before-seen mother, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Although Lawrence’s character does in fact come to town to help with the wedding preparations, there’s no hard evidence to suggest she’s a monster. I mean, she probably is. I just don’t have any proof.

Lawrence—who snagged an Emmy nod in ’09 for playing Izzie’s white-trash mama on Grey’s Anatomy—first appears in episode 6, which is slated to air at the end of October.

One Tree Hill‘s eighth season kicks off Sept. 14.

    • lorna

ha i used to be a diehard fan but it started sucking at the end of s5.

  • dee123

When will they change the name to Over The Hill??

    • AJ

Wow. I must be ancient if you think some people in their 20s are “Over the Hill”. What are you, 9 years old?

  • Rebecca

Yay thanks for the scoop! It’ll be nice to meet Julian’s Mom and that’s a good choice!!

    • ClayQuinnLover

I have no interest in boring Julian’s mom. I rather it was Clay’s mom. HE WAS SHOT AFTER ALL!!! Clay >>> Julian.

  • Becky

My two favorite shows :) Grey’s and OTH

    • Sam

      Seriously?

      • Bee

what’s your problem? people can like what they want.

  • Bee

AWESOME. can’t wait for this. she was hilarious as izzie’s wacky mom on grey’s. this should be great too.

  • Bellie

Awww I remember when she was someone’s mom on that other CW show Privileged, which I don’t think anyone but me watched.

    • Kris

lol I LOVED her as Megan’s mom. I was just going to post about it so you weren’t the only one who adored the TV gem that was Privileged.

    • scatx

I watched it! I watched it!

  • Kris

So EXCITED! I LOVED her on Privileged! Can;t wait to see her go toe-to-toe with the amazing B.Davis!

  • Brooke

She’s been on two other shows I watch (Desperate Housewives and Drop Dead Diva) so I’m excited to see her on OTH

  • Liz

ok, just finished season 7 on dvd. julian’s mom committed suicide when he was little. which was the reason why he felt so desperate to save alex last year. right?

    • Karin

No, his mum was an alcoholic wasn’t she?

  • fireflystare221

My God won’t this end? This coming from a huge fan of the show.

    Seriously though.

  • amy

I don’t think she should be snarky like Victoria. Instead, it would be more interesting for her to be exactly the opposite of Victoria. Super homey and motherly, more sweet and supportive to Brooke. That would really make Victoria have to squirm.

  • emily

i may just have dreamed this but didn’t jullian mention that his mom killed her self, and thats why he was so protective of alex?

    • Ryan

I’m pretty sure you’re right. In one episode Brooke says something like, “You told me you want to save her, like you couldn’t save your mom.”

Of course, as much as I love this show, I’ll admit, continuity has never been their strongest asset.

      • GimplyGump ☺

two possibilities: He lied to hide that his mom left him at a young age or she’s a step-mother. Even if daddy-dearest divorced her, she could have remained his “mother”. Blood does not a family make.

    • Bee

i don’t think she killed herself. i think she sunk into depression and other negative things and if i remember, when he said he couldn’t “save her,” it was that he couldn’t pull her out of that state. thus, he developed this “i must save” complex

      • erika

        You’re right..she didn’t kill herself..just drank a lot and became depressed.

  • Angie

What a down grade for her! Who even cares about Brooke and Julian, I want some Nathan and Haley news.

    • Suzanne

I love Brooke & Julian. Haley is a little too self righteous for my taste. She is just depressing. I love Nathan, though. I say as long as there is plenty of Jamie, it’s all good.
