The pairings for the next edition of Dancing with the Stars were announced this morning on Good Morning America. They are:

7. Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino — Karina Smirnoff

Rooting for Brandy with Maks and Kurt with Anna. It would be nice for a new pro to win this year. Wish Jennifer Grey was partnered with someone different. And Edyta, you will be missed! You are my favorite pro!
I agree about Jennifer, I was excited to watch her this season, but I just cannot root for Derek to win. At least I have Brandy/Maks and Margaret/Louis to root for.
I cant root for Derek either anymore! He always feels the need to put his partner’s face in his crotch! Tired of him and tired of the judges playing favorites.
I agree! I was going to watch for Jennifer but not now that she is partnered with Derek. I can’t stand him!
I think Brandy & Maks will be a great team. I am just glad that Lacey is back and that she isn’t stuck with that hose bag the “Situation”.
I was sure that Lacey would get the Situation. She has typically gotten the odd one of the bunch. I have no idea who her partner is though, and will have to wait and see.
Karina seems to be someone most people do not like, so I am not sure pairing her and the Situation is doing either of them any favors.
I’m seeing a pattern here. Anna usually gets an athlete, Kym get an old fogie and Maks always gets a black woman. They should shake it up a little. I may watch, but have no favorites yet.

I thought Edyta was under contract…I like her. I think Maks will be wasted on Brandy but I could be wrong. Most of the pairings are good. I really hope Jenifer Grey can dance!! And I like that there are no ringers this season.
They gave Cheryl to Rick Fox?? That’s a serious height difference.

Yeah! Why not give Rick Fox to Kym Johnson, she has some height to her!
That was one of the problems Ocho Cinco had.
I’m thinking it’s because she’s danced with very tall guys before, has lots of experience with the athletes, and because they like to pair Kym with the older guys (not that the Hoff is as old as she usually gets, but still).
My Mother used to always say when she saw couple like that “When they are nose to nose her toes are in it & when they are toes to toes her nose is in it”
For Tony’s sake, I hope that Audrina has rhythm. He deserves to have a good partner. Maks has a great chance of winning with Brandy; he has been waiting a long time for that trophy. Also, poor Kym!
They always stick Kim with the creepy old dude.

I feel like getting paired with “The Situation” is Karina’s punishment for being, in general, an a-hole.

Totally surprised Derek didn’t get Brandy, since he’s seems to be the favored child on the show. Glad to see Lacey back, but where is Dimitri??
Jennifer may not have danced in years, but she has to have some natural dance ability/rythem to have won the role, so my gut reaction is Derek got the femail partner with an edge again. I do not recall Brandy doing much dancing in her pop star days.
Just by popularity Derek got the strongest partner this season.
Popularity maybe, but she’s turned this down more than once, I could see her being very hard on herself ala Jennie Garth.

I am shocked that Lacey isn’t paired with “The Situation.” I thought that would have been all but a done deal. I agree, though. Chelsie and Michael Bolton is just too much to wrap my head around.

Weird. As I read this “Go the Distance” as sung by Michael Bolton is currently playing on my iTunes. If he doesn’t dance a waltz to this my faith in the show is GONE.

I read she was not happy that DWTS impeded her career (her thought) and that they didn’t treat her hunky husband well.
oh, hell yeah margret cho and louie! that is the best pairing. can’t wait to see them interact, and what dances they are going to come up with.
I was kind of hoping that she’d get Maks–it’s always fun to see him clash with strong-willed women. But Margaret and Louis will be a lot of fun too. I hope she sticks around for a while.

I always wonder how they determine these pairings! Would be interesting to hear the rationale behind them, if there is any.
Tony Dovolani once said in an interview that they mainly do pairings by Height… so a short guy and tall woman aren’t stuck trying to dance with each other. I also think Derek has something in his contract about getting a partner who has some experience. Tired of his obnoxious mugging!

Yeah, but she’s 50. Older females don’t always do so well on the show (we won’t count the freakish luck and fan base of Marie Osmond). Older guys have done ok though. And Dirty Dancing was over 20 years ago.
Still, she is a dancer. To me older would be Flo or non dancer would be Margaret or Bristol.
