HBO orders third season of 'Hung'

hungImage Credit: Lacey Terrell/HBOHBO announced today that it has ordered a third season of Hung, the half-hour show starring Thomas Jane as Ray Drecker, a failed pro athlete and bored high school coach who takes advantage of his, um, endowments. The second season runs through Sept. 12, and the third season of 10 episodes will likely bow next summer.

The show also stars Jane Adams (Tanya Skagle), Anne Heche (Jessica Haxon), Eddie Jemison (Dr. Ronnie Haxon), and Rebecca Creskoff (Lenore Bernard). The series comes from creators Colette Burson and Dmitry Lipkin.

yay! season 2 is really good

Surprised this is still going. I only saw the first two episodes and thought it was a total dud. I’ve heard it got better, but…I’m still not really interested.

    • Ne Oublie

      I’m with you Danny. It’s a dud.

WHY?!? WHY?!? WHY?!? The show is horrible. It has not progressed, plotwise, since Episode 4. Ray has yet to succeed at much of anything, and Tanya is such a douche. Give her some balls! Geez, the writers have her LITERALLY running away from her problems. The only reason this show is getting rating is because it comes on after True Blood, and people like me or using it as a palate cleanser so that we don’t spend all night watch TV. True Blood gets my hyped, but 10 to 11 minutes into hung I just want turn off the set and gouge my eyes out.

I love Thomas Jane, but I really can’t get into this show, as much as I’ve tried.

  • coco

Love this show!!!!! These are great news.

    this show is just boring.

  • JC

This show has it moments and it’s a good summer TV. If it was on during the fall, I probably wouldn’t give it a second look (same w/ Bored to Death).

  • MDS

This show is ok but I am not sure I would watch it if it wasn’t sandwiched between True Blood and Entourage. There’s no doubt it benefits from the best timeslot HBO could possibly give it.

I keep wanting this show to get better… but all the characters are insufferable. I like Tanya’s quirkiness, but she is such a doormat. And it makes zero sense why Ray would want to go back to his horrible gold-digging ex-wife (I can’t even remember her name!)

Jane Adams has been spectacular this season. Adding the always good Lennie James as her pimping mentor was genius. (This week her scene with “Horny Patty” should earn her an Emmy nomination for next year.) As has Rebecca Creskoff who did an entire scene with Thomas Jane while naked in last week’s epi. and she still came off as threatening as she usually does. Pretty good acting. But why oh why reunite him with Anne Heche’s hapless character? Her story has been the complete waste of time this season. Glad it got renewed.

    • Nikki

I agree with this whole statement. I LOVE Tanya and was crying with laughter when she pulled off her belt and started whipping “Horny Patty”. I was also disappointed to see Ray might reunite with Jessica. This show definitely started off slow in Season 1, but I’m glad I stuck with it because this season has been much better.

  • JMJ

Seriously? I liked Season One, but NOTHING has happened on Season Two and it’s just getting incredibly boring and repetitive. My wife stopped watching three weeks ago and I was planning on sticking it out for the rest of the season so that I could have closure, but now that it’s coming back I don’t think I’ll even bother doing that. I’ve invested too much time in this already. Still, Anne Heche has been great, and I don’t even like her so I guess that’s saying something. I freakin’ can’t stand Tanya, though. Most annoying character EVER!!!

  • Jon

I’m still watching HUNG this season but probably won’t for season 3. I’ve had enough of Tanya’s flightiness. If Ray, a teacher, had any smarts, he would’ve dumped her as his pimp a long time ago.

  • S

YAY! best news I’ve heard so far today! I was afraid it wouldn’t get renewed again but I’m glad it did. I really like it!! woohoo! I wish it had more than 10 episodes though and in fact I believe it would be better if it was an hour show. Love TJ though!

  • Rosina

So happy it’s going for a third. I love the show. Any possibility of being an hour long? 1/2 hr goes so so fast.

  • dctoronto

Stopped watching. Enjoying other watching shows (like the Wire) I discover on DVD instead.
