Sources confirm to me exclusively that the House grad is among a handful of actresses in the running to play a major new love interest for Ted.
How major? Well, I don’t know if she’s the mother we’ve been waiting to meet. However, I do know that the character—a quick-witted, rabble-rousing activist who initially clashes with Ted over the planned demolition of a historic New York hotel—will appear in as many as 13 episodes this season.
Other names in the mix include Minka Kelly and Jacinda Barrett.
If Morrison doesn’t get the part? At least we can look forward to seeing her on NBC’s new action-drama, Chase; she just shot an episode opposite her real-life boyfriend, Amaury Nolasco.

Kristen Bell has the potential to be pretty much perfect as the mother.

At least if Kristen Bell got the part she would come back to great scripts. When in Rome was awful. Her new movie You Again looks just as bad. Emma Stone’s Easy A looks 100 times better than You Again. Sigh. COME BACK TO THE SMALL SCREEN KRISTEN!

Yes jacinda Barret was on the 4th and one of the most forgotten seasons of the real world which was the london season. She was a model when she was on the show and she has managed to turn her reality 15 min into a legitimate acting career

I like Jennifer Morrison but it doesn’t seem to me as if she’d fit on that show. Whoever ends up playing the title character, she’s going to have to have some power that turns Radnor into Saget.

I’m sure the folks at House appreciate your concern about how “hot” someone is. You are the type of viewer they are looking for these days. Heaven forbid that she is a good character or a good fit for the show. Olivia Wilde is beautiful, but totally unbelievable as a doctor. You can’t cast people for how “hot” they are if you want to have your show taken seriously, but then again, not too many people can take “House” seriously these days anyway.

The House I watched had Cameron as the only one strong enough to stand up to House without giving in to him the way Wilson and Cuddy do, or fighting him just because they’re so arrogant the way Foreman and Thirteen do. I stopped watching House when she left.
Either way, Morrison is a strong actress and HIMYM would be lucky to get her.

Her role sounds good. I’d rather see Minka Kelly or Jacinda Barrett play the role of THE Mother. I loved Minka on Friday Night Lights and I think the role would be good for her to move into adult characters and not just high school/college stuff
100% agree on Minka Kelly. Morrison is a nice pick too though.
As much as I love both Minka and HIMYM, I can’t say a role in HIMYM will branch her out as an adult actress. Let’s this be real, Lyla is a much more mature character than most characters on HIMYM, haha. I’d love to see her but I don’t think Minka getting the role would be good for in a “look she can play an adult” sort of way. I’d say it would be more of a “look she can do comedy”.
Either way Minka, Jordan or Jennifer are all fantastic actress so coming to this fantastic show would be a good move in book

I would be very amused if Minka played the mother (whether this is her or not). There are a lot of similarities between (500) Days of Summer and the show, and this would just add to it. LOL

whoever they chose needed to be in Cobie Smulder’s ballpark in the looks dept. & exceed her in the charisma & intelligence dept. …. mission accomplished on both fronts… Kelly would work too. Barrett would be a disastrous choice.
