Exclusive: J.J. Abrams teams up with 'Dark Knight' scribe on new thriller

Abrams is currently shopping a crime-thriller series created by Jonah Nolan, brother and frequent collaborator of The Dark Knight/Inception auteur Christopher Nolan.

This would mark the first small-screen foray for Nolan, who not only co-wrote The Dark Knight and The Prestige but penned the short story on which Memento was based.

According to an insider, one network is extremely interested in the untitled project. My hunch is, it won’t be the only one.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a busy development season for Bad Robot boss Abrams, who is also pitching an Alcatraz-set drama series written by fellow Lost producer Elizabeth Sarnoff.

Nolan is foxy. And I want to see this.

    • Hill

Yeah I had no clue he looked like that

  • Diva

I’ll watch anything thing that has JJ’s name in it

    • RnD

Your momma has his name tattooed on her left butt cheek.

    • Angel

      You’re an idiot.

  • Christine

I know nothing about this show, but already I can’t wait! J.J. Abrams creates some of the coolest shows on TV.

  • j

You do mean Jonathan Nolan, right?

    • Vaughn

Nice try being a snarky smartass article commenter, but he’s also known as Jonah. Try again next time.

      • edge

I don’t believe he was being a “snarky smartass,” as I too thought there was an error with the name. Not all of us know of his nicknames, smartass.

      • Angel

        Jonah is a lame nickname.

  • Nick

I say this as a straight guy, that Nolan brother is super handsome. This project should be pretty awesome, Abrams knows a good idea and this Nolan is the better writer.

    • Chris

      surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

      • Steven

        I’d do him.

    • Angel

The Nolan who DIDN’T write Inception is considered the better writer? Does this guy even have work outside Christopher’s projects?

  • Camille

Now if only Joss Whedon would sign on we’d have the holy trinity… and a show we, as a nation, could be proud of since the end of Lost, Buffy, Sopranos and The West Wing

    • BuckyBuchanan

i can’t put Lost in the same class as The West Wing and The Sopranos. sorkin and chase shouldn’t even let darlton park their cars.

      • sils71

I would have disagreed with you vehemently until the series finale. I was going to comment that I love JJ as long as he doesn’t let Darlton ruin this one, too. Still haven’t been able to watch the final season dvd, and bought it only to complete the series. Do love Joss Whedon, though.

    • rj631

Whedon, Nolan and Abrams? It’s not nice to cause heart attacks over the Internet.

      • Briana

Twitter would go down right away.

    • Angel

Whedon’s overrated. His stuff kicks arse in the beginning then fizzles out after year two. In his wake, leaving a bunch of fanboys in a basement somewhere looking for more seasons of Buffy [in menopause].

  • harry

    Bring it!!!

  • Joe R

    Jonah IS a hottie. Dayumn!

  • Briana

    Two words: Summer Glau.

  • Lannie

Oh please do not feminize it by portraying men as weak submissive, emotionally dumb things that cry like little girls. We already have too much Misandry in Hollywood.

    • Angel

Why would you stop Abrams from creating characters based on himself?

  • madhatter

I thought Chris Nolan’s brother was named Jonathan, not Jonah.

    • Angel

      It’s actually, “Lesser”.

  • Dave

J.J. Abrams has created some of the coolest shows on TV. So anything he has a hand in is certainly worth giving a shot. I just hope he doesn’t spread himself too thin across his many projects.

  • Chris Shifty

Hope this ends up on cable.

  • Angel

YAWWWWWWN! Fast-food server Abrams and the brother-of-a-really-good-scriptwriter team up for yet another TV crime series. Yeah, big whoop there. Oh, no! He’s also teaming up with the lesser… er, lady producer from one of the most disappointing TV shows of ALL time (that’s LOST if you haven’t figured it out).

    • dumbass

      you’re a stupid retard

  • JMaG

Jonah Nolan, AKA Jonathan Nolan?…If so, that is Amazing. Guy is a genius, considering he wrote the short story for Memento.
