Image Credit: Lisa Maree Williams/Getty ImagesAustralian model-turned-actress Rachael Taylor—best known Stateside for her role as “signals analyst” Maggie in Transformers—is joining Grey’s Anatomy for a multi-episode arc, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Taylor’s character is still being conceived—she’s not scheduled to debut until midseason—but a Grey’s insider confirms that she will be playing a (surprise!) doctor.
In addition to Transformers, Taylor also starred opposite Joshua Jackson in the 2008 horror flick Shutter.
Season 7 of Grey’s gets under way on Sept. 23. For a complete list of fall premiere dates, click here.

Another ex flame of Owen lol
Or another Mark’s daughter, or another Derek’s wife LOL
I bet she’s a new love interest for Alex.
Or… someone DIFFERENT, an old girlfriend of Arizona’s.
WORD!
Oh! Arizona’s girlfriend would be awesome!
YEEES arizona’s ex gf! I rmb Ausiello hinted at a little upheavel for the girls! Hope Callie has to fight her way through this ex-flame!
Wow. I wonder what kind of medicine Surprise Doctors practice?
Surprise surgery. It’ll be the next big reality show craze.
Good lord, please tell me this is NOT another regular to the cast. The cast is bloated as it is, and Shonda seems NOT to have the ability to say NO to any character coming on to play an “multi episode arc” for some reason. Pleas for the love of all over bloated TV shows everywhere, let this story arc be brief and the character LEAVE when it’s over. TOO many characters on GA as is.
They kinda deflated the cast with last season’s finale.
Why don’t we concentrate on the large amount of doctors we already have on the show? GA’s cast is so bloated already, and Shonda’s adding ANOTHER castmember? The others don’t get enough storytime as it is, and they just added James Tupper to the cast.
Because Shonda has so little creativity, the only way she knows to create drama and give something new to the audience is bringing a new actor.
She could do so many things… there are still so many relationships between the old cast she hasn’t explored yet (some of the original characters are still strangers with each other) and instead of doing so, she repeats the same old unoriginal plots all the time…
Perhaps she will be the ‘third party’ to come between Arizona/Callie?
Shonda would never do something so bad to Callie / Arizona. It’s her super protected couple that never have problems.
She should seduce Derek merder are boring Meredith walks like a man
Ugh, another gorgeous leggy white woman for this show. Come on, Shonda. What happened to Kimberly Elise/Dr. Swendson? I love Miranda, but she’s an eyesore. We need some beautiful black women on this show.
How rude!! Miranda- Chandra Wilson, is NOT an eyesore!! She’s short, yeah, but she is strong, interesting, and beautiful. Tall, skinny, and leggy does not a beautiful person make. Chandra is incredible as Bailey!
Bailey is beautiful but up until recently she has never been used as a romantic leading lady. As a black woman who is a fan of the show I agree with Jordana; I don’t think casting a black female romantic lead is such a stretch
Beautiful? Yes. As a person.
Sexually attractive?
No.
Jordana, you have a point. We have the beautiful Calli and Christina to represent other ethnicities, but no black women. ‘Tis shame. There’s no second guessing the desireability of black men on this show tho.
Gotta love a socially major double standard, Jaimie. I too, would like to see a black FEMALE model-esque recurring character on Grey’s.
During it’s early seasons, Greys Anatomy actually had a disproportinate number of black main cast members to the real amount of African Americans in Seattle. Just sayin.
wow.
Will she live at Meredith’s house with the others?
People need to settle down about the cast being large. Amy Madigan, Chris O’Donnell, Kali Rocha, Melissa George, Kate Burton, Roger Rees, Edward Herrman. All actors who have played doctors with multi-episode story arcs. And they’re not still on the show.
Doesn’t matter. The cast now is too bloated as it is, and I don’t even watch anymore because it’s the same bad people in stock situations (with no one left that I like enough to watch). They need to focus on making the existing cast more likable, not add in another pretty face.
Unfortunately, not all of those were good. Sadie (M. George) was an awful character who stayed WAY too long. Madigan’s shrink was awesome, though, and I wouldn’t mind if she comes back from time to time.
And don’t forget she was hired with the idea of becoming a regural, she was going to be Callie’s love interest, but she was so bad they didn’t keep her.
They even go so far in order to keep someone new they don’t mind to harm a very loved couple in order to create a plot to introduce the character so people would not hate her, even if that means some fans will hate other already stablished characters. And just because she, the one who plays Teddy, is a friend of Shonda (from other of her shows that didn’t do good) and she wanted her to be on her show no matter what…
Dear God, not another one.
+1
Hopefully, she won’t have Melissa George’s accent disease!
she’s not joining the show. shonda’s already said that there won’t be any more additions this season.
And you believe something Shonda says? lol
This woman is really unattractive, butter face. I’m not looking forward to her addition.
ummm, really? there are many reasons to dislike her addition (too many characters, etc) but i can hardly call this girl unattractive. put the pipe down.
Just because she has what nowadays society considers like a pretty face it doesn’t mean that she is atrractive. Each person considers different things atractive: personality, mind, talent, hard work… it’s not only the superficial image, and that’s also subjective.
Dear God, You Are So Whiny! Shonda said that the 14 regular characters are enought and she’s not adding more regulars.
Yes, because as history has shown us, EVERYTHING Shonda Rhimes tells fans ends up being the truth in the end…….NOT. Trust in Rhimes is hard to come by much these days. Too many cast members period. Temporary or not. Shonda Rhimes promises or not.
