Scoop: 'Castle' captures 'Oz' grad Lee Tergesen

lee-tergesenImage Credit: Mike Coppola/WireImage.comCastle is setting the stage for one helluva cat-and-mouse game, pitting Castle and Beckett against one of their most worthy adversaries yet: ex-Oz inmate Lee Tergesen.

Sources confirm that Tergesen has been cast in the potentially recurring role of Gates, a shrewd, hardened, and violent felon who becomes the prime suspect in this season’s big “3XK” serial-killer investigation.

Tergesen’s character turns up in episode 7 when Castle and Beckett ID him as the Triple Killer (a.k.a. 3XK), a serial murderer who strangled six women four years earlier and has now struck again. As coolheaded as he is cold-blooded, Gates is more than a match for Beckett and Castle.

“He’s going to be somebody that really ends up challenging Beckett and Castle,” reveals exec producer Andrew W. Marlowe. “Castle and Beckett have cracked every case that they’ve been on, and we want to introduce somebody who is more of a worthy opponent to Beckett’s police skills and Castle’s story skills.”

Season 3 of Castle kicks off on Sept. 20.

I think Lee is a sexy man. Glad to see him getting work.

Would have been great on the Law and Order Hollywood.
One of those guys equally adept at going big or going small. The guy should have his own show.

  • Todd

He was very good on this past week’s Lie To Me.

  • RAGGEDT

After being out of limelight for a while, he’s been popping up with regularity lately — “Law & Order: SVU”, “Criminal Minds”, “Army Wives”, “Lie To Me.” Glad to see him doing an extended arc on “Castle.”

Awesome! I loved him in Oz and think it’s a shame that such a great actor has only been getting guest starring roles since then.

  • Lorie

Great news! I love this guy.

  • CBloss

    GREAT news! I can’t wait!

  • ELENA

OMG I’m so happy, I love Lee so much, I hope that he is going to be on the show for a long, long time. BEST NEWS EVER

    • Audrey

Probably not for a long time, since he’s only a suspect for a serial killer case. But hopefully he’s on a few episodes.

Lee is such a great actor, I think that he totally deserves his own tv series, but until then, I’m glad that he is on this fantastic show

That’s awesome! I love him in everything he does. He’s so good.

Lee is a very versatile actor. I was sorry to see his Wanted series canceled. I’ve been following all of his guest starring roles from House to SVU. He deserves a good meaty role where his acting talent can shine. Castle has made a great choice. I will be watching.

Very glad to see him in a potential recurring role. Now can someone cast him in a lead in a great show?

  • tabata
