'Fringe' Scoop: Five season 3 spoilers!

Tags: , , Scoop

I’ve got some news for Regular-World and Alternate-World Fringe fans alike. On a conference call today, showrunners Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman revealed new info on the eagerly awaited upcoming third season of the universe-skipping sci-fi series, which premieres on Sept. 23. So grab a Walter-approved snack—preferably a Ho Ho—and read on.

1. The bell may have not yet tolled for Bell. Although Walter’s former lab partner William Bell may have died in the season finale, the exec producers were quick to point out that nothing is final in the world of Fringe. “Leonard Nimoy has retired from acting,” says Pinkner. “But if Leonard chooses to come back, there is a story in place that we’d love to tell.” Adds Wyman: “I think it’s fair to say that you have not experienced the last of William Bell.”

2. Walter’s advances towards mental stability over the past two seasons may not hold. “Walter will get to the point where he realizes that he has to go through insanity to get to the place where he can be okay,” says Wyman.

3. Expect to really get to know the Alternate Universe this season. Pinkner and Wyman say fans responded to the little touches in the scenes set there—like the zeppelins and Nixon coins—so they expect to show a lot more of those details in future episodes.

4. Keep an eye on Walternate, whose motivations and actions may surprise fans when they are revealed. “Walternate can conceivably turn over a card that you didn’t see coming,” teases Wyman.

5. The life-changing knowledge Peter now has about his own origins will send him on a quest to learn more—a mission that will eventually pay off at season’s end. “He’s going to start putting together a really nice-sized jigsaw puzzle,” says Wyman, “that will be eventful at the end of the season.” (Keith Staskiewicz)

    I can’t wait!

Is it true that Peter’s illness is going to come back?

    • JaySin420

I think at the end of the series, Peter will have to sacrifice himself to save both worlds.

Hopefully the show doesn’t end for a very long time though.

      • Dr. Chick Counterfly

No….possibly will have to return to his own universe to heal the breach, is what I’m thinking.

    6 days!!! Can’t wait!

  • Big D

The best drama on TV. And the last bastion of sci-fi on network TV.

Sounds awesome. I just want to know that Peter will be the first one to figure out the truth about Olivia. I can be patient as long as I know it will happen.

    • Vivian

I want Ella to be the first :)

    FRINGE! FRINGE! FRINGE! Can’t wait!

I want to know what the clues about the Grand Hotel in NYC mean. A modern structure built in 1909? Where did that technology come from?? AND.. Bolivia will give herself away with altuniverse history knowledge that easily conflicts with the truth.
    I LOVE THIS SHOW!

The Grand Hotel was not a “modern structure,” it was a futuristic design created by Antonio Gaudi, a famous architect of the time. It was never built.

I really hope this season gets more viewers. This show can’t get cancelled! The story must be finished!

Have you seen the ratings for last night’s reruns? They were horrible! Fox should have moved Fringe away from Thursday. It’s going to get killed by the competition and cancelled. Thanks so much, Fox. Not!

      • PRBabe

Dude, its RERUNS and not to mention, the season 2 DVD JUST came out. Not sure how you can judge an entire season’s worth of ratings on ONE EPISODE’S ratings. Jeez, chill out!

      • Nate

I was using the rerun ratings as an example of how bad the time slot is for Fringe. I can’t help but be concerned when a show I like seems doomed to cancellation based on a bad timeslot. But I guess we will see how Fringe does in ratings this Thursday. I will try to chill out till then! :)

    • joesmom

I didn’t watch reruns. I got caught up on Hulu, but I’ll definitely be watching Thursday!

  • JeffDJ

Nice tibits, can’t wait! Now, back to my Season 2 DVDs. Gotta finish before next Thursday!

Kind of hard for Peter to discover anything about himself, if he’s barely going to be on this season.

    • PRBabe

Exactly. Unless Josh is going to be REALLY good, 5 episodes out of 10 episodes won’t be enough to start fleshing out his character. To be fair, Walter and Olivia will also be in 5 episodes, too since it will be alternating back and forth. However, the writers will probably give Olivia all these big, huge moments that it doesn’t really matter and Peter will be stuck with the boring material.

you should have more faith in the writers. since our olivia will be absent for the episodes that peter will be in, i’m sure he will be given double the screen time. I love peter too, but youre really making a big deal out of this whole alternating episodes thing.
