Exclusive: 'Lost' star Jorge Garcia returns to ABC

Jorge Garcia had to go back… to ABC!

The ex-Lost MVP has signed on to guest star in an episode of the Matthew Perry midseason comedy Mr. Sunshine, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Garcia will play a staffer at the second-rate San Diego sports arena that Perry’s character manages. He’ll appear in the pilot, which is undergoing some retooling.

It’s not difficult to figure out how Garcia’s casting came about. Perry, who also serves as an exec producer on Sunshine, is an obsessive Lost fan.

Bottom line: Hurley’s back, yo!

Yay Jorge! Glad to hear he’s got something to do in his future. Any chance it’ll be recurring?

Jorge Garcia seems like he would be fun to work with and seems like a genuinely upbeat guy. Not the best actor in the world… but put in the right role the guy can shine

    • liz

You’re crazy! Jorge Garcia had one of the most moving moments in Lost! AFter Jin and Sun died and Hurley broke down on the beach! How can you knock his acting abilities?

      • Lisa Simpson

That scene just killed me, and it was all because of Jorge.

  • Rachel

Hurley is Hurley is Hurley is Hurley.

  • Leola

You go Jorge! He and Matt in the same show is going to be golden.

  • Chaz Winterbottom

    Dude!

  • dogfoot

AN episode? Bummer – not worth it. I don’t want to see Hurley as someone else, especially if he’s not going to be another wonderful ongoing character.

    • Mole

Well, it IS the pilot, which is being retooled, which means he has the potential to recur or even be promoted…happens all the time. Most famously, Fonze.

  • tracy bluth

Can he just have his own show??

    • Katja

Fantastic idea! I have kind of a celebrity crush on him. :) So I want Jorge Garcia back on my screen! (The Emmy intro was a great start…I may have rewound his solo part a time or two…)

    • vl

Yes! Paired with Ken Leung, hopefully!

  • tracy bluth

I’m proud that I didn’t make the obvious Lost reference (hint: it contains the word “back”). I’m growing!

  • martina

Good God, I never did, do or will understand how Hurley got so popular. I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I’ll cope with the consecuences.

    • Katja

Blasphemy! :) Hurley was heart, and humor, and fun! But it’s cool, people like different things. Fairly early on, I realized I HATED Jack, although he got a bit less annoying in the final season, but I know lots of people thought he was dreeaaamy. To each his own.

      • liz

I hated both Jack and Kate, I was shunned from my Lost watching friends.

      • jules

Loved both Jack and Kate. Both my favorite characters on LOST, followed closely by Sawyer and Hurley. I think Hurley and Jack had one of the best moments on tv in the last episode when Jack said “It has to be you Hugo.”

      • martina

Yeah, I totally agree with the fact that Jack’s character only got good in the two final seasons, otherwise it was nothing but annoying. I dunno, my alltime favorite characters (regardless of their acting) were Kate, Sawyer and Charlie, then I could say that I enjoyed Emerson’s performance, but for me Josh Holloway, especially since season 5, was the best thing, overall.

      • tracy bluth

Agree about Jack…my favorite characters were Juliet, Desmond, and Eko, but in the 5th season Sawyer became a favorite, and in the last season I began to love, love, LOVE Jack.

      • jodipo

I agree with the to each his own thing. I loved Jack, Kate, Locke, and Ben. I hated Sawyer though, and all my girlfriends thought I was crazy cause I didnt think he was the hottest thing ever.

      • martina

YEAH! Juliet was definitely a keeper!

    • Dave

Everyone has their favorite characters. I loved Hurley, and I can’t speak for everyone, but the reason I loved him was because he felt like the heart and soul of the show. A genuinely good guy who was always trying to do good things. Always wanting the best for people. Always looking out for his friends. Plus, he certainly brought a much-needed element of humor to the show.

      • Gre

Looking back over the six seasons of the show, Hurley had so many moments of greatness that his being the one to replace Jacob was a no-brainer.

      • Ne Oublie

I am with you Dave. He was a great character on the show.

    • Lisa Simpson

      Everybody loves Hugo.

  • Sally

Dude’s 15 minutes are up. I expect to see him on Celebrity Rehab in a couple years.

    • martina

      +1

    • Um…

He’s an actor who was on a very popular TV show. He’s not a reality star or tabloid fixture. You want to begrudge someone a job in his profession? How lovely of you.

      • @um

        +20

      • CJones

he was also on the tv series BECKER, wasn’t he? Hardly a one hit wonder!

    • Vince from NYC

15 minutes? He was a main character on an epic show that lasted 6 seasons. How is that considered 15 minutes of fame? The Subway Superman and Sully the Pilot are examples of 15 minutes of fame. Jorge is just famous.

  • Ames

I wish Jorge nothing but the best. And I will definitely watch the pilot of Mr. Sunshine now – though I wasn’t planning to before.

  • K

    Great news!

  • Anna L

I love Jorge! I’ve been reading his blog this summer. He seems like such a sweet and genuine person. I think he could carry a show of his own.

  • Kim

Isn’t Alison Janney (Jacob’s mama) on that show, too?

  • ghanmia

Woohoo! A show with Allison Janney AND Jorge Garcia (even if he’s only on one episode)? That’s a sweet pilot.
