Exclusive: 'Chuck' enlists Rob Riggle

The shocking twist? He’s not playing a character named Greta. I swear!

Riggle will instead guest star as Jim Rye, a super smart, intensely positive, and slightly crazy CIA agent who’s brought in to help Chuck become an even better spy.

He’ll appear in this season’s eighth episode, which also features a guest turn by fanboy icon Summer Glau—who will be playing a character named Greta.

      • lorna

        LMAO patty

Riggle used to be a Marine, so I hope they let him do some action work. That would make this appearance even better. (Of course, how many people have been brought in to help Chuck be a better spy? Kinda going back to the well for ideas, aren’t we?)

    • Mike

Not counting Casey and Sarah who are always there, 3: Routh, Willard and Kurtz. Everyone else came in for other reasons, even if Chuck learned from them.

Besides, this is episodic TV. Going back to the well is a fact of life.

  • Hillary

he actually made parts of gary unmarried watchable

  • Rigglelicious

GREAT CHOICE!!!! Rob Riggle is on fire and one of the funniest guys in LA! Now if they would only cast Doug Benson as the mentally challenged stoner cousin.

    • VarsityBasketweaving

Doug Benson would be hilarious on Chuck. Great concept there; Jeff’s cousin, totally.

Riggle will be great in this role, especially if it’s recurring. Looking forward to it.

      • Nicole

Ah!!! This must happen! Love Doug Benson, and yes – he should be a relative of Jeff’s. Benson has talked about the fact that he watches Chuck too – make it happen, peeps.

  • Tee

That guy is hilarious from what little I’ve seen of him. I haven’t started watching this season of chuck yet but hope all the stunt casting is working/will work out. Also <3 Chuck, even on its not-so-great days it's still enough fun that I can't figure out why this show struggles to get renewed every year. :(

  • Diva

    PUT SOME CLOTHES ON- Sarah

    • Jersey Jeff

      :(

  • Jen E.

I would love a Casey vs. RR scene!

  • Gambs

As a Chuck fan and Daily Show fan, I love this choice. If the role is what Ausiello describes it to be, Riggle is a great choice.

  • Craig

Yeah… I love The Daily Show, but I can’t stand this guy.

  • sammy

Did you see Monday’s show…wonderfully written, a lot of humor, and the Sarah/chuck romance is blooming.
Very clever. Who else loves Beckman…glad she is getting full credit now

  • Amy

This will be awesome. Already can’t wait. XD
