Image Credit: SyFyIt’s great that Caprica wants to distinguish itself from the show that gave it life, Battlestar Galactica, but would it kill them to toss in a few more toasters? Apparently not, since the second half of the prequel series’ first season (premiering Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 10 p.m.) will feature a major uptick in Cylon activity—as evidenced by the first-look image above and exec producer David Eick’s exclusive quotes below.
“Daniel Graystone’s creation—the early-model Cylon known as the U-87—emerges as a critical story point,” reveals Eick. “Due to the bad PR Daniel has endured since his prized creation, the Holoband, [was blamed for] the emergence of terrorist cells on Caprica, Daniel shifts his company’s focus to the perfection of artificial intelligence and its proliferation throughout the culture as the ultimate `helper’: Never gets tired. Never asks for a raise. Never quits on the job.
“Meanwhile,” Eick continues, “Joseph Adama and his brother Sam—using their organized-crime muscle to seize control of Daniel’s company—see an altogether different purpose for the U-87s: to sell to the highest bidder, no matter how violent their agenda might be.”
Bottom line: If you’re a BSG fan on the fence about Caprica, now would be the time to start tuning in.

People (esp. ambivalent ‘BSG’ fans) better start tuning in. Show’s on its last legs. I worry for it!
I tried watching – I made it to episode three and erased it from my PVR….didn’t grip me the way BSG did RIGHT AWAY!
@ Davey – I was with you but for some reason we tuned back in for the last few weeks and the show got MUCH better. You might want to go back and give it another try.
What was wrong? No spaceships and Ray Guns? Did someone make you have to think?
@JerseyJeff…..the show is a total bore. and you are a total douche bag.
I agree, Jersey Jeff is a total Douche Bag that can’t even make up his own nickname for this board.
It gets much better. The first three hours were shakey at best, but begins to find its legs. The casting choices, characters and effects are top notch on this show.
I was a huge fan of BSG, but this show is too corny. That, “anything goes” virtual nightclub scene in the pilot felt like an early 1990′s concept of what the future will be like. Apparently in the future nightclubs will look like Nine Inch Nails/Ministry videos.
Also, the little girls personality being downloaded into the Cylon body was laughable.
“in the future”? Doesn’t this take place like 100,000 years ago, on another planet??? A lot of things about Caprica seem like different points in our past. This is not a show about our future.
I guess some people are just to smart for their own good.
Caprica FTW! =)
Sorry, but as a original BSG fan, I have never watched or will watch this new show regardless of how great the acting, FX etc are. I don’t like remakes. It is that simple. Same reason why I won’t watch the new Star Trek movies or if Lucas decides to remake the original Star Wars with a new cast. Not interested. It spits in the face of original fans if a new show is done without incorporating the original show. That’s just my opinion. I do like seeing the old Cylons again, even if I won’t tune in to watch the actual show.
This is not a remake… this is a prequel.
Yeah. Not a remake. A prequel/origin story. Also You said, “It spits int he face of original fans if a new show is done without incorporating the original show” after saying you won’t watch the new Star Trek movies. I actually think the Star Trek movie did an amazing job of rebooting the series while honoring the original and not negating what happened. You’d know that if you had given a chance instead of prejudging.
Be quiet.
Love it.
Initial set of eps were some of the smartest TV I’ve ever watched. Hopefully it doesn’t change too too much! Looking forward to more.
I quite like the show, but you seriously need to watch more TV.
I love Caprica!!! Can’t wait for the show to return!
Am I the only one who likes it better than BSG?
No, you are not
tune in, BSG fans! it’s good stuff!
It’s an excellent show. I’m one of those who get nervous about prequels – the writing is usually sloppy and continuity is thrown out the window (I’m a little worried about that here too – but the show is great. Worth jumping in
and here I was thinking it was canceled and I didn’t know it… hope it goes well, I got really curious about a few things and would really like to know how they turn around!
I honestly can’t wait!
Caprica started out kinda slow, but it really picked up by the end of the first half of the season. Excited about the back half!
can’t wait! Great show!
Yayyy! I love caprica and cannot wait for its return!
Smartest show on television these days. Which is why it may be doomed, although I hope not…
they need to replay the first half again..
Wonderful show. It’s definetly some of the best-written TV I’ve ever seen. It looks like the show’s pace is gonna get much faster from now on! Can’t wait!
I really hope it gets at least 2 short seasons, enough to wrap up this beautiful story.
I agree that Caprica got a little slow after the first episode but it did pick up and I never missed an episode…. I too wish SYFY would repeat but they may want to sell DVD…
