'Cougar Town' Exclusive: Byrd romances Wolfe

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Collette Wolfe—who starred in NBC’s ill-fated summer series 100 Questions—is joining Cougar Town as a grad student who gets romantically involved with college freshman Travis (Dan Byrd).

That noise you hear is functioning alcoholic Jules filling up her “Big Joe” wineglass.

Wolfe is slated to appear in multiple episodes, the first of which is scheduled to air in November.

That noise you hear is functioning alcoholic Jules downing her “Big Joe” wineglass.

All this wine talk is making me thirsty.

    Slap out of it!

I am really loving this show. It needs to get recognized by the Emmys this year. ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Cougar Town’ back to back, doesn’t get better than this.

    • I’d rather give to TBA again!

      Invisible opera gloves, Brian.

    • Brooke

      That was awesome!

What happened to Kylie? I guess they’ll be breaking up in an upcoming episode?!

    • Lauren

Didn’t they break up after Travis cheated on her? B/c originally Jules was mad at her for dumping her son before she found out why.

      • I’d rather give to TBA again!

        They got back together though.

      • Rion

She was in the season premiere. They were together.

  • Sarah

    Aaaaahhh…irashaimase!!

    • Jackie

I loved when Jules & Travis were fighting, and they screamed this at Grayson when he walked in.

  • Chris

Doubt the show will last until November.

    • Ryan

Doubt you know what you’re talking about.

…although I do not watch this show.

    • quincy

      oh, you are so confused

      • Jorge Jose Herrera

U don’t know what ur talking about like Ryan said Chris because Cougar Town is performing quite well for ABC, not to mention that cirtics do really like the way that show is running as of recent. So shove it!

      • laurnepatron

yeah. jorge. it’s actually not performing all that well. sadly.

      • jasper

from marc berman at mediaweek: “At 9 p.m., ABC standout Modern Family perked up to a second-place 8.6/13 at 9 p.m., which will be more than enough to totally dominate the time period among adults 18-49. Comparably, that was up by a significant 48 percent from the year-ago telecast (5.8/ 9 on Sept. 30, 2009). But Cougar Town at 9:30 p.m. is completely squandering the lead-in support, with a third-place 5.3/ 8 and retention of only 62 percent out of Modern Family. ABC is wasting a plum opportunity here.”

        Sad, but true

      • um…

I think that Jorge is talking about how critics are responding to the show lately and not about rating. Two different things.

      • jasper

        that makes no sense.

      • alex

jasper. It does make perfect sense. There are several things that are taken into consideration whether a show stays or not. Ratings are one of them. Yes, they matter a lot, but critic views are another.

Also, just to double check you do realize ratings have NOTHING to do with critics right? Ratings have to do with how many people watch. Not how critics feel about a show.

    • have you SEEN ABC’s ratings this season? if they cancel one of their (very) few decent performing shows (especially since none of their new shows stuck), they’ll be ruined.

  • Gata

This girl is far prettier than the other actress. I hope it works for Travis – his first “man-type” relationship.

Kylie wasn’t even there to see him off last night, but then again, she did go to a college far away.

  • Chris

Ugh I want him to be GAY!!!! So much better.

    • Amy

If he were gay and someone said “I want him to be straight,” then a bunch of people would gang up and call that person a homophobe.

    • Karl

      Watch Easy A. Problem solved.

  • Lisa

I thought they were going to “go there” with Laurie and Travis and I’m so glad they didn’t.

    • Mike

      I bet they will eventually.

      • jayemeff

They are the two closest cast members in age. So Laurie and Travis relate to each other better. I like that they can have that closeness as friends and have no desire whatsoever to see them “go there”. That would completely destroy the wonderful dynamic that has developed amongst this ensemble.

      • jules

        Hopefully they don’t.

    • RK

This girl looks a lot like Laurie…

  • Nick

I love this show. Hope it survives.

  • Pepper

I love the show but I think they should go easy on the drinking. I know that sitcom alcoholism is meant to be funny but it’s now pathetic. Drinking from dusk till dawn is not good. And just because it’s wine it doesn’t make it classy. You still get the drunk stink.

    • tomm

Yes, Hollywood writers have no clue about drinking issues.

    • Rion

Good Lord. Go have a beer.

    • Pepper

You don’t understand me. Drinking could be funny. Karen on Will & Grace was the funniest drunk I’ve seen.
Make it funny. Until that, it just seems sad to me.

      • Modwild

Drinking out of big Joe isn’t funny? Are you in your 40s? If not, trust me, it’s funny.

  • rj631

I guess Kylie is history. I thought they were going to “go there” with Laurie for a minute too, but I’m so glad they didn’t. It makes sense that they’re close though since she’s the youngest of the bunch after Travis. I like their weirdo friendship, she’s more like the crazy aunt. I’m just thrilled that Dan Byrd is sticking around, I love him on this show

  • Yaya

Cougar town is WAY better than Modern Family. Needs more recognition. Or not. Still will watch.

  • Peggy

I really enjoyed “Cougar Town” last season but this season it is just not the same. It reminds of an older Monica from “Friends” with all her weirdness. Last season it didn’t seem as strong as it does this season.

    • Molly

By “this season” you mean the first two episodes?

  • dee123

The sky is blue, the grass is green & someone that looks like him can’t get someone that looks like her.

  • Karl

I gave up on CT after the first four episodes, but now it seems like I’ll have to come back and watch this starting from season 2 onward!

    • CiCi217

You do need to revisit the show. Just skip episode 1 w/Anniston. That woman stank up the screen as bad as she does in her movies. FAIL

      • davey

CT is the only thing I’ve ever liked Aniston in…she was kind of funny in last week’s episode!

  • jfms777

An older woman (the grad school student) seduces the younger man (Travis). True “Cougartown.” Enough already. Boring. Find someone your own age.

    • Modwild

Do you say the same thing when it’s an old man with a young woman? Take for example, the upcoming stint of Kyle MacLachlan as Jennifer Morrison’s ex husband. Thats a 20 year age difference to possibly 5 for a grad student and a freshman. I’m sick of the double standard. Why is a man who dates young women a stud but a woman who does the same a derogatory “cougar?” As if she’s PREYING on younger men. That sucks.
