Nancy O'Dell and Carson Kressley to host 'Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star'
Nancy O’Dell (Access Hollywood) and Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) will co-host the new OWN series Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search For The Next TV Star that will debut in January. The new competition series is from Mark Burnett (Survivor) and will involve a nationwide search to find TV’s next big star. The winner will receive his or her own talk show that will air on OWN.
O’Dell and Kressley will work with 10 finalists, who were selected from more than 15,000 entrants. Each episode will also feature a celebrity judge. “I am so thrilled, grateful and excited to be a part of Your OWN Show,” said Kressley in a statement. “Not only do I get to inspire and be inspired by an amazing group of very talented contestants, I will also have the privilege of working with seasoned pros like Nancy O’Dell, Mark Burnett, and of course, my hero, Oprah Winfrey. Showtime orders more 'Weeds' and 'The Big C'
Image Credit: Jordin Althaus/Showtime; Sonja Flemming/ShowtimeShowtime announced today that it has picked up new seasons of Weeds and The Big C. Both shows will return sometime next year.
More than 6.5 million viewers tuned into the premiere of The Big C on Aug. 16, making it the network’s highest-rated original series premiere in eight years. The show stars Laura Linney as a suburban wife and teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The sixth season of Weeds also premiered on the same night and averaged over 6 million viewers – a record premiere episode for the series.
“The unprecedented viewership for both The Big C and Weeds proves that audiences love these shows as much as we do,“ said Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins in a statement. “There are definitely more comedic adventures in store for these fascinating, complex women. For six seasons, we’ve happily traveled along with Nancy Botwin and we’re equally as excited to follow Laura Linney and The Big C team as they chart Cathy’s unique journey through such a provocative and personal subject as cancer. We’re thrilled that these two signature shows will be returning to the network in 2011.”
