EW Exclusive: Oprah Winfrey Network to bring Dr. Oz, Suze Orman, and Dr. Phil together for specials
Image Credit: Sam Jones/ZoCo Produtions, LLC; Mark Royce/CNBCThe Oprah Winfrey Network will assemble a veritable dream team of self-help gurus this January with a series of specials featuring Dr. Mehmet Oz, Suze Orman, and Dr. Phil McGraw, EW has learned exclusively. The high-powered trio — each of whom have their own shows either in syndication or cable — will tape four, two-hour specials in front of studio audiences in Los Angeles and New York. The specials will air on four consecutive Sundays in January to coincide with OWN’s much-anticipated launch on Jan. 1.
“We are going to do what each of us does, which is answer questions,” Dr. Oz told EW. “There are some things I am good at, and a lot of things I am bad at. I think Phil and Suze have similar portfolios. When we combine ourselves together, I will tell you what to do, Phil will tell you how to do it, and Suze will tell you how to pay for it.”
The specials were the brainchild of Lisa Erspamer, OWN’s chief creative officer, and Orman, who hosts shows on CNBC and QVC. “It’s the dream scenario,” said Erspamer. “They’ve never done anything like this together, so God only knows what will happen. They’re like rock stars. We feel like it’s a great way to kick off the new year and the new network.”
The trio will take audience questions during the specials. “They don’t always agree,” says Erspamer of the trio. “Each has their own area of expertise. They are all opinionated, lively, and strong.”
This won’t be the first time the three powerhouses are on the same stage: Orman, together with Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in May to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of O Magazine. Orman’s been a frequent guest on Oprah while the Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil shows are Oprah spin-offs. —Additional reporting by Nicholas E. White

'Survivor's Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca to pitch reality show
The reality show run of Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca may not be over just yet. Zohn – who won Survivor: Africa and participated in the All-Stars edition with girlfriend Morasca, who won Survivor: The Amazon - plan to pitch an unscripted series about their lives. “We want to be a little bit about us, but we also want to be about helping others, going into people’s houses and trying to give advice for everything that we have been through,” says Morasca, who talked to EW exclusively before attending the Stand Up to Cancer event Friday in Los Angeles. “Between the two of us, we have pretty much been through everything.”
The duo have already shot a pilot for the potential series, which they’ve named Ethan and Jenna Surviving Life. “Since the day he got sick, we filmed everything,” says Morasca about Zohn’s 2009 diagnosis that he had a rare form of Hodgkin’s. “So we have a ton of video.”
Zohn, who is now in remission, hosts a show on Outside Television called Outside Today and just shot a pilot for Animal Planet about “traveling the country for inspirational stories about dogs and dog owners. – With reporting from Nicholas E. White
Sneak Peek: 'Grey's Anatomy' wedding of the year
I’m going to forego the customary spoiler warnings since the cat is out of the bag: Cristina and Owen will tie the knot in the Sept. 23 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, and here’s a first second look at the nuptials. A couple of key takeaways from the above image: The bride wears red; the ceremony takes place in Mer’s living room; and there are three people in attendance I don’t recognize. What stands out to you? And are you planning to attend the big event next week? Hit the comments!

Fox orders family comedy based on U.K. hit
The success of ABC’s Modern Family has definitely inspired the networks to step up development of family comedies. Fox – which is about to debut the family-com Raising Hope on Sept. 21 – will try again to launch Outnumbered, a laugher about a trio of kids who run their parents ragged. The project, which is based on a British version of the same name that airs on BBC 1, was first developed by Fox in 2007-08 but didn’t make it to series. At the time, the network described it as offering “Curb Your Enthusiasm-style improvised dialogue with a Malcolm in the Middle-like premise about the triumphs and travails of parenting. The adult actors are scripted, while the children’s dialogue is improvised and off-the-cuff.”
The project is from 20th Century Fox TV, which also produces Modern Family for ABC. A studio spokesman confirmed that Fox ordered a pilot. Though most are ordered around midseason, Fox picked up the pilot for Outnumbered now to get a head start on casting.

The Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it will air a six-part docu-series titled Finding Sarah that addresses the “personal struggle” of Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. The new series will premiere in the first quarter of 2011.
“Sarah Ferguson will share with our viewers her personal struggle to rebuild her life,” said Lisa Erspamer, OWN’s chief creative officer, in a statement. “With the help of experts Dr. Phil McGraw, Suze Orman, Martha Beck, and others, The Duchess will open up about her recent public troubles and explore her lifelong battles with weight, relationships, and finances. She will look to put the past behind her and move forward to a positive future.”
Ferguson released a statement of her own: “I’m doing this because I need to heal my mind, body and spirit. After 22 years of raising my two amazing daughters, it’s time for me to mother myself. My hope is that sharing my journey will help someone else.”
