'30 Rock' Exclusive: Tina Fey's 'Mad' about John Slattery, too!

Tags: , , News, Scoop

The 30 Rock Emmy winner—who wisely finds every available opportunity to work Mad leading man Jon Hamm into the show (including the upcoming live outing)—has now tapped his costar, John Slattery, to guest-star, sources confirm to me exclusively.

I’m told Slattery will play a candidate running for congress in this season’s seventh episode.

Speaking of Slattery, how awesome was he on last night’s MM? Discuss below.

Guess he really looks like a politician huh? (Sex and the City)

    • The First Jersey Jeff

      I hate this show.

  • Sam

Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, and now this. Apparently the man really looks like a politician.

    • Dominic

Hopefully they’ll make a meta joke about that…

    • Larry David

He’s copying Jon Hamm, what a loser!

      • Sam Steamer

        You’re an idiot.

    • Monica

He also played Senator Walter Mondale on the HBO docudrama, “From the Earth to the Moon.”

  • LOL

    Tina rocks!

  • K

    Can’t wait.

Seriously, what is the freaking connection between Mad Men and SNL. Cast members are marrying/dating each other and now three of the Mad Men cast members have appeared on SNL connected shows (one of them on two shows, ie. Hamm). Not that I care, it is a marriage made in heaven, but still, what gives?

    • museball

pretty sure it’s that they all work in television in NYC, but I could be wrong

    • hanna

Best Comedy on TV, meet Best Drama on TV *cue mutual swooning*

    • jbj

Actually, the Moss, Hendrickson and Slattery all appeared on Jon Hamm’s first SNL appearance.

He is seriously sexy as hell! Silver Hair Fox! Then again there are times I think of his character on SATC and the golden shower fetish but other than that he is a sexy. I would love William Peterson to guest star on 30 Rock. I miss seeing his scruffy adorable face. Yes, another man I think is sexy. He is that smart quiet sexy. The same I felt about Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yeah, go ahead and make fun of me but the smart sexy is very attractive to me.

    • Noelle

That’s too funny, I’m like in love with all three of those guy too. So sexy!

  • Cimdyyy

And after why not Tina Fey on Mad Men ??? She will be awesome !

    • Mary

That would be awesome. I’d like to see her as a friend or cousin of Peggy.

    • Or…

      How about Joyce’s lover?

      • Anonymei

        Great idea. Love it!

    • Georgina

      Love it!

  • UncleWalty

nobody works a cocktail dress like Tina Fey…she is a stone fox

  • Karate Pants

    And my worlds collide! Hooray!

  • Dave

Awesome! Although I wish he and Jon Hamm could guest in the same episode together, that would be cool.
Loving 30 Rock so far this season!

  • ShockPoP08

Match made in Heaven! Can’t wait! Love John Slattery!

  • E.

I recall Tina saying once that she’s a big Friday NIght Lights fan too… Would love it if she could work Kyle Chandler (or anyone from FNL) into the show–I’m sure he’d be hilarious and charming!

    • pop

that would make me soooo happy. maybe connie britton could be jenna’s sister?

      • C

AH both would be amazing! They’re both so funny in real life.

  • Tom98006

I’ve never forgiven him for taking Julie Bowen away from “Ed”

  • Zak

Uh, IIRC, Tina Fey no longer works for SNL. She shows up every once in a while, but I can’t see her having casting decisions. Seth Meyers is the current head writer, Tina’s former position on the show.

    • Zak

why did I read that as he was going to be on SNL, not 30 Rock?

    • topoopon

The synergy between SNL and 30 Rock is obvious. Tina Fey often borrows cast members for character parts, she shows up on SNL 2-3 times a year, and they are both Lorne Michaels productions. So yes, whether SNL or 30 Rock, there is a lot of crossover to Mad Men’s main cast.

Meh. Why not have the entire MM cast on at this rate?
