But as far as Deadliest Catch’s Sig Hansen is concerned, he definitely thinks he’s ready to trip the light fantastic with the likes of Anna Trebunskaya or whoever ABC would be willing to pair him with on Dancing with the Stars.
The Northwestern captain told EW exclusively that he took a meeting with Dancing execs about possibly appearing in a future installment. “I thought the interview went really well,” Hansen said from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, where he’s preparing to set sail on Oct. 14 for the seventh season of Deadliest Catch. “I know I could do it. I know it’s a big commitment and I said to my wife that I’m not going to do it if it screws everything up and she’s like, ‘no…no.”
Well, it will take more than his wife’s approval to pull off a trip to Mirror Ball central. Hansen fishes for King Crab and Red Crab from mid-October to mid-December while January to late March is devoted to chasing after Opilio and/or Snow Crab. That definitely rules out Hansen doing the fall edition of DWTS. But if Hansen catches his quota early in the winter, he may have enough time to hop off the Northwestern and hightail it to Los Angeles in time for the show’s mid-season berth in late March.
A rep for DWTS would not comment, other than to acknowledge that casting occurs year ’round for the reality show.
Hansen would certainly fit in nicely on DWTS, which has definitely generated new fans with its recent run on reality show stars like Kate Gosselin and The Situation. And given how the ABC show averages more than 20 million viewers per week, an appearance by Hansen would do wonders for Catch – which averaged 5.92 million viewers last season.
I would love it if Sig was able to join!!! He would certainly get my vote

It is one of the few places people can see real men work up close and personal. They all get to wear such sexy outfits too.
Well if you watched it for a few shows you might like it yourself. It really is a good show and the Captains have alot to do. And they do have the substanince to do Dancing with the Stars too, if they wanted to. Sig would get my vote too. I just love him!!!

Not all women like the metrosexual type of guy, some of us like the Marlboro type of man which certainly Cpt. Johnathan (and the rest) all qualify to be. Don’t be hating on these guys, just think about them when you are eating crab.

You obviously have NOT watched the show it is the best show to hit tv in YRS!MY anyone who’s any one LOVES THAT SHOW.What makes the show so great is they are real ppl,NOT hollywood actors/actresses trying to get rating.With the dc guys what you see is what you get NO PRETENSES,NO LIES ,NO B.S.,THEY ARE NOT HOLLYWOOD TYPES.

It sounds great to have Sig Hansen on Dancing with the Stars. I’m sure that there would be many fans just chomping at the bit to see him dance. He is one of the favorite captains on Deadliest Catch and would bring in a multitude of viewers. He would get all of my votes for sure.
I would LOVE to see Andy or Jonathan Hillstrand on DWTS. Love them both. Jonathan is a sexy man for sure!

Every year, there’s one or two people on DWTS that interest me, but I never watch it. If Sig was on it, I’d definitely watch!
Guys love this program so I think it could even bring in more male viewers–there are a lot of males that love this show

Go Cap’n Sig! It would be great to see Sig without severe sleep deprivation and steamer trunks under his eyes, deathly pale complexion and no ciggies hanging out of his mouth. AND I bet he is right – he CAN do it!
That’s awesome! I hope they can arrange it and we’ll see him in the spring. He already has my vote, and I never vote on that show. Go Sig – and Kym, Anna or Cheryl would make fantastic partners for him (hint, hint ABC)!
