Scoop: The CW orders more 'Life Unexpected'

Sources confirm that Life Unexpected has received an order for two additional scripts. The second-year CW drama—which received an initial order of 13 episodes—hit a season high in total viewers (1.7 million) this week. ABC, meanwhile, has ordered four more No Ordinary Family scripts. Brothers & Sisters also received a four script pickup.

While I am excited, what were the ratings usually for MP last season? Seriously, if only she had given the show a second chance, OTH and Sville are ending this year, and hopefully Nikita and Hellcats get axed.

    • Larry David

      Why bring it back???
This show has teen angst and melo-drama written all over it! Its like the younger sister of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, both are boring and idiotic!!

    • MrMank

      Bite your tongue about Nikita!!

      • lorna

lol sorry, im still irked that the moron is still running the CW. Seriously, I’m surprised OTH is ending this year, considering Dawn has her head up their a$$es. And I used to be a diehard fan.

    • Flip

MP had potential except for how they screwed over, villified, and basically ruined the vets.

      • april-ann

Totally agree, Flip. MP actually became a very good show and a wonderfully guilty pleasure the last half of its season. Unfortunately, the mistakes they made right out of the gate and beyond were apparently unforgivable: the body of a beloved vet floating in the pool thereby ending any hope of seeing her alive (athough I hoped until the bitter end that she was really alive), no Amanda at the beginning, Ashlee Simpson a part of the cast, a dark, boring murder mystery as the main story stopping us from getting to know and like any of the newbies, Michael hating his own kid (although he looked exactly like Jake), Jane’s career unsuccessful. Wish they’d stayed true, because the characters and the actors on the new MP were very, very good. I was sad to see it go and would rather have seen it stay than Life Unexpected (also would rather have seen Privileged stay). I watched Life Unexpected last season and LOVED it until Cate married Ryan, just to be able to continue more awkward dancing around Baze and Cate I presume. I have not watched it since.

      • lorna

Well, I want to rent the original series, I plan to, agree about Ashlee, but I thought they did well with the original.Should have given it a s2, SVille and OTHell are finally ending this season. Stupid Dawn.

      • lorna

I mean original cast*. Ashlee, and the boring engaged couple, were the only parts I didn’t like.

    Yay, love Life Unexpected!

  • Suzanne M.

    Great news !!

My goats are KB swings, t2b, and ohs. I’ve prgesorsed from k2e to t2b over the past couple months and am increasing weight on kb swings. My shoulder feels more stable and hasn’t subluxated in several weeks, so I might start trying light snatches soon.

  • Jaclyn

LUX rocks! Does this mean two more episodes this season?

    • baj24

No, an additional script order doesn’t mean those episodes will get shot. It’s a good sign, but I don’t think they will get any additional episodes ordered unless the ratings stay steady from here on out for the next few weeks.

      • JMO

ah I was trying to figure this out. So CW gives them the go ahead for scripts but it all depends if they get to become actual episodes? well hopefully Lux can maintain some viewership!

      • jericho

Seeing as it is only a two script order, this is a good thing for the show, but a bad thing for the actual story arcs. An additional two episodes even if actually made … woohoo. I love Lux, but I would rather see them cancel it with whatever closure was to be had in ep 13 than bring it back for 2 more eps only to get canned.

  • tabata

hei nerd, why don’t you just go back to your japanese cartooonga-katu-r-toku?

  • Nerwen Aldarion

Don’t get your hopes up for a season three though. CW did the same thing with Melrose Place last year and it had similar ratings. I bet LUX will probably last all season and get canceled at the end of the tv year

    • bdayboy09

Nope, it did not have similar ratings. Melrose Place sinked to 1.1 million and even 900,000 for a new episode. LUX has been stuck in the 1.7-1.5 million ratings range, and that’s SO ABOVE than Melrose place and a LITTLE LESS than 90210, OTH and Gossip Girl!

  • Mels

    WOOHOO! YAY!

  • Robert Taylor

I’m confused about the BROTHERS & SISTERS news.

It was announced at upfronts that the show had received an 18 episode order for its fifth season. Does this extra four come on top of that, to give it the usual number 22?

    Help!

    • Kate

Yes!! That means Brother’s & Sister’s has been given a 22 episode season.

  • crystalynn

love lux, yay! Hope they get many more seasons…

  • Mels

BTW loved the Roswell reference in the last episode.

    • Liz

I did too!!!! she looks like the girl from Roswell. lol!!

      • lalala

She is the girl from Roswell. LOL!!!

  • Kate

I used to watch a ton of shows on WB and then when it merged with UPN & became the CW and they canceled alot of my FAvs. I thought I would give the new shows a chance…very lame! (except for OTH, which I enjoyed for a while) but even that’s lame now! How does this network compete with the others? I just watch Grey’s Anatomy and half the shows on ABC..glad the shows I watch are safe! :D I hate breaking in new shows LOL

    • Missy

I know a part of why CW can stay alive with shows who’s ratings are basically crap compare to other networks is because their viewership is mostly younger people (teens and twenty year-olds) and that age group spends a lot of money so advertisers are interested in commercial spots during their shows. Also, I would guess, their shows aren’t as costly to make as other network shows (young actors are cheap, most shows have a limited number of sets, etc).

  • Jennifer

I’m happy but not too surprised about the Brothers & Sisters news. With “My Generation” gone, “The Whole Truth” as good as dead, and “Detroit 1-8-7″ continuing to lose viewers, the network is going to need a lot more help than just “Off the Map” can provide.

    • matt s

      too true…way too true.

      • matt s

abc still has V (no help there) and that new Dana Delayney show (body of proof) on the shelf ready to go for mid-season….combine those 2 new shows with a surprise order for a winter edition of Wipeout and Off The Map and you’ve got an idea of what they’re hoping to put on Tues, Weds, and Thurs nights (and i assume Fridays as well–they can’t just keep airing reruns on that night the rest of the season can they???)

  • walter17

    life unexpected, what is that?

  • amilah

I really like this show, but they have to work on Kate. She is turning into a insecure, lying, nutcase!
