More Mad Men

Random Scooplets: A '24' star heads to 'The Event,' pilot intel, and... a 'Mad Men' suicide?!

ausiello-scoopletsImage Credit: Everett Collection; Art Streiber/CBS; Mike Yarish/AMC* NBC’s The Event — which has been giving off some serious 24 vibes in recent weeks — has tapped one of that show’s stars for a potentially recurring gig. Actress Necar Zadegan, who recurred as the wife of IRK President Omar Hassan during the show’s eighth and final season, will play a mysterious character named Isabelle. It’s probably worth noting that former 24 boss Evan Katz is now an exec producer on The Event. It’s all starting to make sense, right?

* ABC Family has opted not to move forward with Strut, a cast-contingent pilot about a Las Vegas showgirl-turned-drill team instructor. Rumor has it producers were wooing Jenna Elfman for the title role, but Dharma wasn’t interested.

* Tennis legend Jimmy Connors will play himself in an episode of Matthew Perry’s upcoming ABC comedy Mr. Sunshine. Perry’s character Ben challenges his longtime idol to a tennis match—all in the name of charity.

* Mad Men‘s season finale is this Sunday and I have a bad feeling a major character will attempt suicide. Who? Listen to the latest edition of the TV Insiders Podcast (below) and find out!

Sally attempts suicide?(!) That would be too much – even for Mad Men

    • Semaphore

Yeah I doubt there’s any chance they’d go that dark. I could see maybe Roger who has lost everything and seems at the end of his rope, but not Sally.

      • stephann

I agree about Roger…I was thinking that 2 episodes ago.

  • Dinana

I hope Sally doesn’t commit suicide…but that’s exactly what I thought as I watched the ep unfold. She has done a great job with this part…I hope to see more of her…maybe in something happy!

  • davey

Sally has turned into my favorite character on that show – and that’s saying something since EVERYONE in the cast is astounding!
Please don’t let Sally commit suicide. I would be beside myself.

  • Friends Fan

Jimmy Connors and Matthew Perry! Two of my favorite things: Tennis and Friends. I can’t wait for Mr. Sunshine.

  • Lisa Simpson

I really don’t see where anyone is getting a suicide vibe from Sally. She’s a tough kid who managed to find her way into the city. She’s the duaghter of Don Draper, the ultimate reinventing survivor.

    • topoopon

If anything, Sally is going to turn into a hippie, and go to Woodstock.

      • Lisa SImpson

Woodstock is three years away, and Sally is only 10.

    • topoopon

Yeah, if anything, Sally is going to turn into a hippie, (or Weather Underground).

When should we expect to see Mr. Sunshine?

There are no confirmed new info about “Mad Men”, just speculations.

    I just wanted to say…
that Sally is freakin fantastic. The most brilliant character on mad men. Really.
I can see Roger trying to kill himself though

  • Ryan

Well it is attempts suicide, but my bet would be Rodger, I was so prepared to see him try something two weeks ago.

  • Tom

Kinda hate Sally, so I wouldn’t mind if she kills herself..

  • Libby

Any news on when we can expect mr sunshine to air, can’t wait to see it!!!

  • Gretchen

It would make no sense for Sally to committ suicide. She is growing as a person and it, IMO, would just not fit into who she is right now.

  • Mandy

Sally is a kid. No one would go that dark! If anyone, it would Roger, but he is so much the comic relief, I would hate to see that.

  • rob

Not seeing Sally but am seeing either Roger or Sally’s little friend.

  • CindyB

I see the MM suicide attempt as Cooper. His departure last week was so odd, and he’s always had a bit of a screw loose. Roger would be my second guess, his professional life is in shambles, and his personal life is not rewarding enough to keep him away from Joan. Sally committing suicide would be too dark and twisty I think, I really hope they don’t go there.
