It’s a big day for pickups over the Peacock!
NBC has given a full-season green light to freshman trio The Event, Outsourced, and Law & Order: Los Angeles.
As I reported earlier today, NBC is also on the verge of picking up Chuck‘s back-nine, although a network rep declined to confirm that.
“We are pleased with the quality of The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced, and feel they are an important part of helping to re-build our schedule and our studio pipeline,” said NBC prez Angela Bromstad. “We believe in these new series and the creative auspices behind them.”
No word yet on the fate of fellow rookie series Undercovers and Chase.

The Event was horrible and Outsourced was painfully unfunny.
agree… terrible shows.
I don’t mind that they picked up ‘Outsourced’, I watched the trailer and found it insultingly unfunny but it’s another reason not to bother even checking NBC for entertainment and saves me a lot of wasted viewing.
The show oursourced isn’t supposed to be a full comedy show, it is also a love story and the event i have to agree was a terrible show, i never wanna watch that, but outsourced for me was funny and creative seeing as how they expanded from common american shows to out of the our own country. You people dont appreciate the value of the show.
not only is outsourced great but it was part of 1 of the greatest lineups last year ,communty, parks, office the outsourced was a classic if any show needs 2 get canceled its definately whitney its the dumbest show ever
Ew, why Outsourced?
Yeah, its decent ratings probably come from the fact that it’s after the Office as opposed to any other reason. After this, if they cancel Community or Parks and Rec by May, I will be really upset
who keeps putting these cougar type things on here…does anyone actually think this crap is real? Probably some 400 pount fatty sitting with hairy armpits, pimples all over and scraggly hair…with hair coming out of moles or something. EWW.
Yes PLEASE cancel Community and Parks.
I usually complain about shows not getting a pickup when it is deserved, but Outsourced just needs to die. It is offensive, racist, and unfunny. I tried to watch one episode, but couldn’t stomach it. I hope it dies at season end.
It’s not offensive. I have several Indian friends and they all love it and aren’t offended by it at all. Even their very traditional parents seem to enjoy it.
It is offensive in that it calls itself a comedy.
Pilot was ok, but it has gotten better ever since. If you have time, try to catch the newer episodes. I don’t think it’s racist at all! The actors are also great. I love Gupta and Madori. The Asst. Manager is also funny.
Josh…LOL.
The show isn’t racist. You people need to get a hold of a better dictionary. The show doesn’t move much beyond stereotype which doesn’t automatically make it racist. It’s just a painfully unfunny show.
It’s the white man’s burden to tell everyone else what’s racist, even if people from other ethnicities, including the actors on the show, are too naive and not highly educated and sophisticated enough to be offended by the racism that elite white people see for them.
I agree with John, the show is unfunny, incorrect and often times pathetic. I am an Indian and do not know any other Indian who watches it or would like to. I wont call the show is rascist, but it does not have to be rascist to be unlikable. It should be dropped but if NBC had brains it wouldnt be where it is right now.
I’m Punjabi, my parents, and all of my desi friends love the show. Get that stick out of your ass, and lighten up,
Ew, Why the Event?
I was watching both The Event and Outsourced. I stopped watching The Event at Ep. 3, same week as Hawaii 5-O and No Ordinary Family. But I’m still watching Outsourced and kinda looking forward to it every week.
RCB…like you, I stopped watching The Event mid-way through episode 3…just trash of a show. H5O is at an odd time frame for me to watch it…and I don’t do DVR or TIVO…so…not watching that.
Wish they’d put that in a better time slot. Haven’t seen OS yet…no intentions either…enough of everything going to India…much less TV shows now too.
I like Outsourced, so this is good news. The lead is really cute, too!
Ben Rappaport is quite good. Funny without being obnoxious.
I’m enjoying Outsourced and it’s improving, glad to see it get picked up.
Me too. It has definitely improved.
Okay. You convinced me. I will give it another try. When does it come on?
And there goes any hope of Parks & Rec returning early =(
I wonder if they could have a “no-repeat” time slot for Outsourced and Parks & Rec? Only show new eps of each in that same time slot.
But Parks and Rec has 22 episodes to air. If they do that then one of the shows will run into Summer.
seriously! That was my first thought. I’m bummed.
I thought it was not coming on until mid season because of Amy Pohler’s new baby.
Ugh. They picked up Outsourced? What are they thinking?? I’m actually getting kind of invested in Chase, and now it will probably be canceled.
Yeah I’m really getting to like Chase too. But Undercovers needs to go!
I’m really starting to like Chase as well but this has me nervous. I’m hoping Undercovers gets yanked and between that and losing Outlaw NBC desides to hang on to Chase and give it a tryout somewhere else on the schedule.
WHATTVHE HECK IS NBC THINKING ?!?!?!? OUTSOURCED IS THE WORST SHOW CONCEPT EVER !!!! HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR JOBS TO BEING SENT OVER TO INDIA FOR CHEAPER !?!?!? AND,ITB IS NOT THAT FUNNY….
THEY CANCEL LAW AND ORDER FOR THIS GARBAGE !?!!? I WONT WATCH NBC ANY MORE..NBC = NOTHING BUT CRAP …
It’s quite funny actually. Give it a chance. I think those who hate it have not actually seen it or probably saw one episode.
Then you are a racist.
They cancelled Law & Order for Law & Order: LA, which they just gave a full season pickup. (Yay!) Personally I’ve never watched Outsourced and probably never will…but it’s not a replacement for L&O.
@Wolverbunny…You can back off on the Cap Lock, bonehead. We wouldnt be here if we couldnt read.
Actually worst show idea ever was “Cavemen”
So where are they gonna put Parks and Rec?!
Ditto, I wonder were will parks timesolt be now, hope it’s not Fridays because that will kill it. Glad for the event, I like it.
Yes, what of Parks and Rec?
I really wanted to like “Undercovers”, but it just hasn’t been keeping my attention.
News on Chase?
It slipped to 1.5 in the 18-49 demo that advertisers covet. Sorry, but it’s certain to be canceled by the end of the season. Same goes for Undercovers.
Who the hell is that?
I hope Undercovers is next. It and The Event are the only 2 new NBC shows that I’m watching.
So what does this mean for Parks and Rec?
I’m pretty excited The Event got a full season pickup. I’ve been enjoying it so far and I’m still intrigued about where it could be going. It’s definitely holding my interest. I hope Undercovers gets picked up too. It’s fun and the leads are very charming.
So now that Outsourced is getting a full season, how will they fit Parks and Recreation back into the schedule in January?
You must work for NBC…
We’re never going to get rid of Outsourced, are we?
I know! like a reality show, they need one loser in there for the entire season to stir things up
If you worked in the call center industry with people from India you’d see how amazingly funny it is
Yeah, Jessie! This incredibly large segment of America is probably THRILLED about Outsourced!
If I worked in the call center industry, I’d off myself.
I’m stunned they are giving The Event a full season pick-up. I expected them to kill it early — glad I’ve hung on.
I wasn’t a big fan of the *style* of the pilot (too much jumping and almost stilted dialog trying not to give anything away), but the Event got much better as it went along. We’ve got a new star in Jason Ritter – he quite literally makes the show.
Yeah, he’s good but the problem is that the other characters don’t sustain my interest. That’s why I stopped watching.
except that every other word out of his mouth is ‘my girlfriend,’ and that was annoying enough for me to pull the plug after 2 episodes
I stopped watching due to all the jumping around. I HATED it as it was too overused.
They are keeping it long enough so they can cancel it after a season one ending cliffhanger.
If the show does end up being “on the bubble,” hopefully the writers/producers will be smart enough to end the first season in a way that could serve as a series finale but could also be continued should a season 2 pickup occur. Hopefully they won’t be as delusional as the producers of Heroes who said, “we’re ending it on a cliffhanger, so they have to give us another season!”
Emily S: I fear you are correct. It will end up in the same dimension as the series-ending cliffhanger for Flash Forward!
