Oh, and the Chuck back-nine news I reported yesterday? It’s now official, only I’m told it’s actually a back eleven! That’s right, Chuck‘s fourth season will be 24 episodes long!
Season to date, Chase is averaging 6.5 million viewers and a 2.0 in the 18-49 demo. While those numbers are hardly spectacular, it’s an 18 percent improvement over what The Jay Leno Show was doing in the Monday-at-10 time slot last year. Undercovers, meanwhile, continues to struggle on Wednesdays at 8. NBC, however, is happy with the show creatively—as well it should be.

Hooray for Chuck!
and first! (right?)
Stay classy Heidi, no need for such childishness. But yes Hooray for Chuck!!!
Good point sonja. Thanks!
YES!! My not so inner obsessed-fran-nerd is happier than Chuck was in Chuck vs the Honeymooners! ♥♥
alright. typos. so sue me. (good luck at getting anything ☺)
Fantastic news! Especially exciting after last night’s encouraging Casey-centric episode. Now I’m just waiting on Community…
That is GREAT news about the back nine (or, better yet, back eleven) for “Chuck”!!!
if that is true I want to cry with joy.
A full season for Chase? Additional scripts for UNDERCOVERS? 24 episodes for Chuck?
Poor NBC, it’s not even funny anymore. I can smell the desperation from here.
Yea, all this must mean NBC’s midseason options are exceptionally poor.
Yeah, there’s that. I’ll keep my hopes up for THe Cape and Love Bites, though.
I haven’t watched Chase or Undercovers, but I still love Chuck. It may not be a ratings powerhouse, but it is constantly entertaining and also consistent in the ratings.
I started watching Undercovers 3 weeks into season. Was disappointed in other options. To my surprise I liked this combo of drama/action/romance/comedy, not necessarily in that order. It’s a hoot and better than okay, so I’m gonna stick with this one til at least mid-season.
If these networks would talk to each other, we could have win-win-win scenarios for all types of viewers.
My favorite new shows? They are on cable Spring/Summer.
This is the complete opposite of every other year. Perhaps they have wised up, and realized that these things take time.
I agree! I love Undercovers. I am so glad to hear that it hasn’t been canceled (I’ve been worried…) but it is good, the writing is good, the chemistry between the actors is amazing, the show itself is FUN. Yay for Undercovers!
In all fairness, the only network that seems to be hitting more than they’re missing this year is CBS. It will take NBC a few years to recover from the ‘Leno Debacle of 2009′.
Pretty sure they’re still trying to recover from the last 5 years of 4th-place-ness. The Jay Leno Show fiasco just made it worse.
Ahh Caio – seems that you too suffer from the ‘I like to rudely express my opinions as though they are facts’ syndrome that plagues these forums.
Great news re: Chuck, thanks!
Freak’n awesome!!
CHUCK YEAH!
YES YES YES, GO CHUCK, WOOOOOOOOOOO
Chase s**** It must be the luckiest show ever. Last week got really low ratings and this hasn´t been much better.
Chase is awesome!
Well now, you are just FULL of good news today, aren’t you!? Woohoo! This is a good Tuesday.
I’m so happy Chase is being picked up. I watched the last 2 episodes and they were great.
Agreed! The guest actors who play the fugitives have all done well especially Jennifer Morrison.
BEST WEEK EVER!!
OVERJOYED for Chuck! It is finally getting the love it really deserves!
Chuck really is the little show that could.
Yup!
It is! So true.
Yeah! Viva Buymoria!
As it “could” get better ratings…
It would if it weren’t for that damn 8pm Monday timeslot!
Yay for Chuck! Great news! I’m glad Chuck is getting a full season. Definitely the little show that could.
CHUCK RULES and now we get more eps AWESOME
i’m still stuck on the idea that they need to move undercovers to mondays after chuck and advertise: SPY NIGHT MONDAYS!
….why does the fact that it’s 24 episodes long now make me feel as though the last two episodes will be the last two of the show?
They would have announced that at the same time if it was. But like was mentioned, a back 24 means only 22 episodes needed for a fifth season and syndication.
Summer, you’re probably right. PJM, you’re probably wrong.
Or, potentially, 11 episodes makes for a better story arc than 9 episodes does. I’d like to think that this order does mean the chances of a 5th season have improved. I’d also like to think that Schwartz and Fedak will take this opportunity to do a Lost and ask for it to wrap up at 6 seasons.
I agree. I’m so pumped to see it get some more episodes, but the best length for the show would be 5-6 seasons
Disagree. How do you compare “Chuck” to “LOST”? One is a series that can go in just about any direction, so the sky’s the limit, while the other was just a massive mystery that needed an ending. For “Chuck”, the stories could be endless and, as long as the writing is well done, this series could continue for years.
I can compare it to Lost for one simple reason – I wish EVERY show would do this. The sky isn’t the limit for any show; no show can run forever. I wish far more shows opted to end the show on a high, rather then let it slide into cancellation zone and end with an unsatisfying cliffhanger. Chuck’s best possible ending would be with resolution – Chuck and Sarah married, baby on the way, and some definitive insight into their future.
