Exclusive: 'Supernatural' scares up Freddy Krueger

robert-englund-supernaturalImage Credit: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images; Jack Rowand/The CWAt this rate, Robert Englund is going to surpass Summer Glau as cult TV’s No. 1 go-to guest star. Filmdom’s original Freddy Krueger has closed a deal to appear in the Dec. 10 episode of Supernatural, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Englund — who is set to terrorize Team Bartowski on next Monday’s Halloween-themed Chuck — will play a character known simply as Dr. Robert.

“Hunters often find themselves in situations where they need medical attention but can’t exactly stroll into an ER,” explains exec producer Sera Gamble. “Robert plays an unlicensed doc who makes his living stitching folks up on the down low. One of our guys goes to him with a life-or-death problem.”

      Hmmmmmm, no, he didn’t

    • Steven

He did an episode of Charmed and he was fantastic!

    • Wendy

He also did an ep of Bones last year.

      • laylagalise

        And it was awesome!

  • Theloveisgone

Wow love Robert, too bad season 6 has been such utter boring cr@p that this won’t even be enough entice me to keep watching:(

    • hum

Come on! Bobby’s episode last week was great. Finally we get to see some insight into the man. Also, bravo on Jensen’s directorial debut on that episode.

      • Alia

I thought “The Third Man” was pretty awesome, too. Slow start to the season, maybe, but it’s definitely picking up!

  • Rosewood

Cool. But I think it’s Mark Sheppard actually leading the guest star race in most genre show appearances.

  • FrankA

I see assielo got his daily PR email from his boss over at Warner. I love how he tries to hype this bs as a “scoop.”

  • Seriously

Considering that Dean’s been into ER a few times already…

Anyway, who’s betting than it’s Dean who’ll be almost dying as usual?

    • cassopeia

      Maybe it’s Bobby. ;D

    • Anna

No doubt. And at the end of the episode we will get the usual one manly tear,

  • cassopeia

I thought Supernatural (and the rest of the CW shows) were going on a break after Dec 3rd?
Or does the episode with Englund starts filming Dec 10th? I’m confused.
This is definitely better stunt casting than when they got Paris Hilton for an episode. *shudder*

  • Sarah

I hope it is Sam this time. I am soooooooooooooo sick of Dean being this woobie, hurt “thing” on the show. Blech. I am more than ready for Sam to be in need of real medical attention and to see his point of view.

    • MR

Yes, I agree. Please, let it be Sam this time. I miss the older brother taking care of his little brother.

    • Tim Alexander

WORD, let Sam get some hurt action going on, and also let him be stitched up topless please. Oh yeaaaaaaah.

      • Alia

Sam whump + shirtless Sam? WIN.

    • Andrea

yeah I agree..we have already seen Dean THREE times in the ER and Sam never..and yes god please let him be topless and get some stitches! hot as hell! =D

      • Selena

Wholeheartedly agree! Sam needs to be in an ER stat!

    • MJ

Yes please let it be Sam! We’ve seen Dean almost dying a lot of times, time to switch the roles.

      • KAS

So agree… time for a change.

  • Beverly

OMG!! That episode is going to be awesome!! I love him!!!

  • Carrie Ann

    AWESOME!!

  • ani

Very cool. Supernatural’s casting director deserves some recognition. They get some great character actors on this show.

    • Alia

And a lot of their no-name guest stars end up doing really well later in their careers. (Cory Monteith, WH13′s Joanne Kelly, Jamie Ray Newman from Eastwick and Eureka…)

      • Liz

when was Joanne Kelly on Supernatural?

    • BOB

Not really. Anyone can get Robert.

  • deb

I love supernatural!!! what a great show!!!

  • Debra

    DECEMBER IS SO FAR AWAY…
