'Terra Nova' casts '24' alum Mido Hamada

mido-hamada Mido Hamada (24) has joined the cast of Terra Nova, Fox’s time-traveling drama that’ll get a special preview in May before returning to Fox’s schedule in the fall of 2011. Hamada will play Guzman, the head of a security team who also serves as a trusted advisor to Frank Taylor (Stephen Lang of Avatar). This will be a series regular role for Hamada, who played Samir Mehran on the last season of 24.

Besides Lang, Guzman joins the previously cast Jason O’Mara (Life on Mars) as Jim Shannon and Allison Miller (Boston Legal) as Skye.

Fox decided to give the high-concept drama from the auspices of Brannon Braga (24) and Steven Spielberg the same treatment it gave Glee, which was previewed last year after a May episode of American Idol and subsequently rolled out officially in the fall of 2009. The experiment worked: Buzz for the musical dramedy built over the summer and the show had an auspicious beginning.

Filming on Terra Nova isn’t expected to start until next month in Australia. The high-concept series takes place 100 years in the future and focuses on a family that travels back to the prehistoric era. It’s also executive produced by ex-Fox Chairman Peter Chernin, agent-turned-producer Aaron Kaplan, Craig Silverstein (Bones), and Kelly Marcel.

So is his name Milo or Mido?

    • Larry David

This guy was the worst actor on 24 ever! Now I know that this show will suck!

Thanks for the clear, precise analysis of a pilot you haven’t even seen yet, Larry…

You’re dumb. He’s hot, and he was awesome in 24

Can’t wait for this show. Hopefully FOX doesn’t put it on Monday’s next year…cough cough Lonestar…

Stephen Lang is going to be in this show? He was the worst thing about Avatar.
And seriously, is this guy’s name Mido or Milo? It can’t be both.

Sorry but Stephen lang is an amazing actor! He played babe Rthe in a movie and it was awesome. He was also a key member of the series Crime Story and he was awesome in that. it’s not his fault that Avatar was a horrible movie.

      • Dave

Yeah, my bad. The blame for Stephen Lang’s performance should really be placed on James Cameron. Lang’s character was so one dimensional, it was ridiculous. He was a cartoon, a caricature. I guess it’s not Lang’s fault that the role was written so poorly by Cameron.

He was worse than Joel Moore?

They get to spend a year in Queensland, could be worse.

Can we just get a Dino Riders movie already.

Everyone is so quick to judge a series before it even premieres. Give it a chance. Why does everyone need instant gratification?

People are looking at the problems the show has had. It was suppose to air in fall, then mid-season, now next year.
They had hard time finding location, casting, producers leaving.

Brannon Braga is a joke and everything he touches or gets involved in fails. Flashforward and the episodes he wrote for 24 were awful. Terra nova needed Furry to even have a chance the second he left the show was doomed.
