Image Credit: Tommaso Boddi/PR PhotosNurse Jackie is getting an infusion of new blood: The Wire‘s Gbenga Akinnagbe has scored a major recurring role on the Showtime dramedy, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Akinnagbe’s character — who will be introduced halfway through Jackie‘s upcoming third season — is the new temp nurse at All Saints. He’s described as handsome, qualified, and much-liked by his peers.
Akinnagbe is on board for a minimum of seven episodes.
Jackie‘s third season is slated to premiere in early ’11.
This guy was the worst on ‘The Wire’. ‘Nurse Jackie’ is terrible anyway so they make for a perfect match.

He must have been talking about Jamie/Marlo, who guest starred on Lie to Me recently and made, again, zero impression.

I’m assuming you mean that his character was the worst, because he was excellent (acting-wise) on ‘The Wire.’ I wonder if this means that he’ll no longer show up on ‘The Good Wife.’
Yeah, they really should have included what character this actor played on The Wire. There were so many characters on The Wire that it’s hard to be sure without an imdb search, but this guy played Chris Partlow. And to comment on the previous two postings, there wasn’t a bad performance by anyone in that show. I really don’t write this easily, but it really was as close to perfection as any television show has ever gotten.
Yay! I love to see Wire actors getting work. Chris Partlow was a bad, bad man but the actor was great.
Sorry, the character Chris, was frightening. Gent’s performance was layered, dark and SUPER creepy.

ITA. I’ll miss Momo (haven’t yet watched Season 2). He was one of the main reason’s I started watching Nurse Jackie. Anyone know when Season 2 will be released on DVD?

Snoop won’t be around for a while. She was recently picked up in a big drug bust in Baltimore. For real.
