Rumor Patrol: 'Fringe,' '90210,' 'Bones,' and more!

True! Back to the Future‘s Doc Brown has been cast as a musical hero of Walter’s who’s been in a nursing home and becomes the subject of a Fringe investigation. “Christopher plays Roscoe Joyce, a keyboardist for Walter’s favorite 1970′s band Violet Sedan Chair,” explains exec producer J.H. Wyman. Fellow EP Jeff Pinkner adds, “The lives of these two men, who have never met before, overlap in strange and unexpected ways.”

A Bones spin-off is in the works
While it’s true that series creator Hart Hanson is developing an offshoot that would revolve around the central character in Walter Sherman’s Locator novels, the new guy — a recluse who can basically find anything — will not be introduced in a December episode of Bones, sources confirm. My guess is we’ll meet him in January or February.

Shenae Grimes (Annie) is getting replaced on 90210
False. Grimes is staying put, but Annie has reason to worry. The show is getting ready to introduce the recurring role of Emily, Annie’s country bumpkin cousin who moves to Beverly Hills with one goal in mind: to steal her cuz’s life! In addition to going after all of Annie’s acting parts, Emily also makes a play for her BF Liam. Bottom line: The CW is rebooting All About Eve!

ABC has axed The Whole Truth
False. Yes, the Maura Tierney-Rob Morrow courtroom procedural is being preempted on Nov. 3 for some Robin Roberts country music special, but an ABC insider insists the show — which is still on the schedule next week — has not been canceled. Yet.

Does this mean Annie and Liam will get back together?

    • Larry David

bad show + bad show + bad show= FOX!
Also, Ausiello has the dumbest title on the internet, “RUMOR PATROL”. Thank god they fired you.

      • Duncan Houst

Always the pessimist Larry David. By the way, I will murder you in my dreams for inferring that “Fringe” is a bad show. By the way, Ausiello wasn’t fired. He’s decided to leave on his own free will.

      • Zombie Jesus

Please do not feed the trolls folks. Oh, and watch the tram car please.

      • C

Larry David needs to leave. i know he has the right to opinion tv shows but he has nothing good to say. all he does is complains. i’ve tried to ignore him but geez, he’s everywhere now. hear that EW!! HE NEEDS TO BE AXED!!

      • Adam

Larry please crawl in a hole and die, ur a disgrace to the human race.

      • Megan

I think Zombie_Jesus’s point was that if people stopped responding to LD’s posts, he would get bored and stop posting them. So let’s all stop, ok?

      • sydley07

Wow, I’ve only been paying attention to the comments for about a week, but you seem too cynical to be real. I’m assuming you are just one of those people who enjoy getting other people all riled up. Otherwise you may want to look into therapy…

      • Peter

He’s not going to leave. He’s finally getting the recognition here he so desperately craves.

      • Sue1

        He’ll leave if he’s not fed=ignored.

      • Tarc

        Troll.

      • Lisa

You’re trying to Hard “Larry”. Your “gimmick” of complaining about everything has lost its originality and wit. I’m surprised that anyone thinks that you are even being serious. Either way I am in agreement with those that say to stop feeding the troll. This will be my last time doing so

  • Anjali

    Fantastic casting for FRINGE!! :)

  • James

Could you imagine if Christopher Lloyd had been on Fringe last season…in an episode with William Bell (Leonard Nimoy)? The awesomeness would’ve made every geek’s head explode. Imagine, in one scene:

Lord of the Rings (Walter – John Noble)
Star Trek (Bell – Leonard Nimoy)
Back to the Future (Lloyd’s character)

    Wow. Still, great casting!

    • Dicazi

Christopher Lloyd played Kruge in ST: Wrath of Khan, so part of your fantasy has come true already.

      • Ryan

Lloyd was in Search for Spock

      • ks

        3rd movie

      • Dicazi

And I call myself a Trekkie. LOL

  • Josh

so Emily on ’90210′ is Valerie Mallone 2.0?

    • Summer

I was going to say the exact same thing!

    • Brandy

Emily on 90210 reminds me of Gina On BH 90210, she was poor girl who was jealous of Donna and tried to steal Noah and her life.

      • Angie

Gina was Donna’s cousin/ 1/2 sister. I wasn’t watching much by then; so, don’t remember the particular’s. My thoughts went to Valerie, a bad girl who pretended to be a good girl – she dated Steve, but slept with Dylan. Wanted Brenda’s life.

    • Drew

I thought the same thing. And last season, Jasper was their Emily Valentine… only instead of burning a float, he burned something that floated.

      • Itchy

        LOL! Indeed he was….

    • Sara

      Valerie Mallone…my all-time fave 90210 character.

  • Dave

Wow Ausiello, two of these “scoops” were just reported on this very website by your colleagues in the past hour or so. Keep up.

    • Anna

Actually the Bones item came up Thursday afternoon.

    • Bern

He never said that these were his scoops. He is correcting the rumors in true false fashion. Is it that difficult to comprehend that?

      • Dave

Actually, one of the tags for the article is “scoop.” Besides, the stories I’m referring to that were reported earlier were not rumors and were already correct and they did not need correcting. Is it difficult to comprehend that?

  • Maryann Craven

You’re the best! Thanks for the Fringe casting news. Can’t wait to see it. I believe John Noble is currently one of the best actors on TV.

    • I’d rather give to TBA again!

Yes! How has he not been nominated for an Emmy????

  • Melanie

Fingers crossed for The Whole Truth. Better than The Defenders any day, and better than LOLA, which airs opposite it.

  • I’d rather give to TBA again!

Christopher Lloyd? On Fringe? I can die happy now.

  • marie more

i wonder that’s why hannah is on bones for. hopefully she’ll be moving to the spinoff show and not show her face on bones again!!!

  • Elisa H

I love the Whole Truth! I can not believe that it is still pending on a decision whether to cut or not.

    • martina

Yeah, I don’t know what ABC’s waiting for! I has better ratings than sucky shows Nikita, Hellcats and others that have already escaped the axe.

    • Jen

I love the Whole Truth, too! Glad I’m not the only one. :)

  • Sam

At first I thought the picture of Christopher Lloyd was an unflattering pic of Ken Tucker.

  • charles

YAY! First Denethor, then Spock, and now Reverend Jim! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I LOVE FRINGE!!!!!!!!!

    • Emily

      doesn’t everyone love fringe? (:

  • Scotty J

I feel sorry for the Numb3rs alumni that this new show for Rob Morrow and Judd Hirsch hasn’t worked out.

  • Deiko

What’s with all the Shenae Grime hate. I love her and I’m glad her character has gone back to being happy go lucky most of the time. I can’t wait to see hear cameo in Scream 4 she looks hot. She went back to the long red hair look in the movie. I wish she’d go back to that look in 90210.

  • dee123

Yeah! everybody wants her character to die horribly in Scream 4!
