Image Credit: ABC(3) Michael Chiklis and his superpowers will be around until at least May: ABC announced today that it gave a full-season order to No Ordinary Family as well as the new comedy Better With You. The Chiklis drama has averaged 9.5 million while the comedy with Joanna Garcia has lured 7.3 million.
Meanwhile, ABC picked up additional episodes of Detroit 1-8-7, the new cop drama that’s averaged 8.9 million, and the returning drama Brothers & Sisters. ABC only ordered 18 episodes of the latter show before the start of the 2010-11 but decided to pick up four more Monday.
At a concert this summer, they showed Better WITH YOU between acts. It was the only they way they could get me to watch a whole episode.
Why all the hating on The Whole Truth … I think it is one of the better new shows! Rob and Maura are great on it, and I love the concept, its great debating the guilt/innocence throughout the episode and finding out if you were right! SAVE THE WHOLE TRUTH!
I really, really wanted to like The Whole Truth. I’ve liked Rob and Maura in other things they’ve done, but I’m not finding either one of them likeable. Their characters both get on my nerves. Maura’s character doesn’t even consider the possibility of someone’s innocence and she comes across as smug to me. I wish I felt differently.
Like EW said in their review a couple weeks ago, Tierney is way too good of an actress to be stuck in a procedural show. Let’s just cancel this so Tierney can get a much better role somewhere else.
Good news about “Detroit 1-8-7!” They need to fix “No Ordinary Family.” It can’t decide what it wants to be: Comedy, action, serious drama. I get whiplash watching it.

No Ordinary Family is a family drama with pretty violent scenes. It’s not a comedy. All dramas have comedic elements in them.

the pilot was nice, but the episode after have been hilarious! totally crack me up. it’s almost like a throwback to old-fashioned comedies.

Are you kidding, Better with you funny? I consider myself a very patient guy but i have watched Better with you ever since its pilot and i literally have not smiled or laughed while watching that show!!!
I think Better With You is very funny, and it’s my favorite new show.
I like Better with You because I like Jennifer Finnigan & Joanna Garcia. I didn’t like JG on Gossip Girl, but BwY is right for her. I did like JF on Close to Home, so I’m glad she’s back.

I love Better With You as well. I’m trying to get everybody hooked on it. I find that couples LOVE the show. How could you not like last week’s ep??? The shout outs to all the youtube videos by Kitty Foreman were HIGH-larious!!! “And then… they go back to africa…. and THE LION REMEMBERS THEM!”
I agree.. My wife an I like to watch it together. We’re somewhere in between the new couple and the 9 years together but not married couple. It’s a little cliche’ at times but that’s not necessarily always a bad thing.
Can’t believe that such an unoriginal show like NOF could have viewers, ABC is starting to see that they won’t get viewers like past years and they keep this crap, and Eastwick and Pushing Daisies that were actually original get cancelled with twice as viewers this terrible show has!
I loved Pushing Daisies and still miss it, but your statement here is not correct. ABC would not have canceled it if it was getting 15-18 million viewers a week, because those are pretty substantial numbers. At the time of its cancellation it was getting less than any of the shows discussed in this article.
“Better With You” is a lame, poorly acted attempt at comedy. I only ‘watch’ it because there is nothing else worth watching in the 8:00-9:00 time slot while I’m waiting for Criminal Minds or Law and Order to come on.
NBC’s “Outlaw” however is a really great show that deserves to be shown at a better time slot. Friday night is not the right night to air a new show. I hope NBC will give Jimmy Smits and gang another chance on another night.
Don’t hold your breath, since that show has already been cancelled.
I don’t get the love for Better with You. The acting is good but the acting and themes are so generic. The only reason it gets the meager ratings it has is the time slot between The Middle and Modern Family.
I wish they had picked up additional episodes for V. I’m so disappointed they cut the order to 10.
J, you should be thankful that V even got renewed for a second season.
I am thankful. Especially with the 4 month hiatus 4 weeks into the season. It’s a miracle it was renewed, I was just hoping for a little better treatment from the network for season 2.
I really want to like NOF because I adore M Chiklis, but it just sort of sits there. Hopefully the plots will pick up and go somewhere.
Yeah, the problem with it isn’t that it’s trying to be a bunch of different genres (as an earlier commenter said), the problem with it is that it’s going absolutely nowhere.
I am quite pleased with Better With You. It’s definitely a growing love – I didn’t immediately love it. But each week I laugh more and more. I think Ben is my favorite. I think they all have great chemistry together.

Sounds like is time for ABC to put its Ace player on the air, and Im talking about Ms Dana freaking Delany. Now I understand why they keep holding her back probably ’til mid-season. Smart move, ABC.

Dont care for generic sitcoms like what’s its name, although Im obligated to watch the last mins so I dont miss the beginin of MF.
I keep wanting to like BETTER WITH YOU, because the cast is so game, but the writing is HORRIBLE. I don’t think I have really laughed once..maybe a mild chuckle here and there.
Better With You. Tv would be better without you. This show is only mildy amusing and the cast is being mis-used. The episodes are way too predictable.
