Image Credit: Sonja Flemming/CBSCSI stalwart Marg Helgenberger thinks its “kind of remarkable” that her procedural has held up so well after so many years. But even if it remains a global phenom (and one of CBS’ top performers), it’s hard for her to imagine working on the veteran show beyond this year. ”I’m only actually negotiated for this season. That’s all I’m really thinking about right now is just finishing up this season,” Helgenberger told EW at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Presents: Primetime TV Crimefighters event on Monday in California. “So no, I don’t … not much longer. Not much longer.”
Helgenberger admits that working with Laurence Fishburne (“the consummate professional”) has been fun, and that her co-star should have no concerns about CSI’s former leading man William Petersen coming back for an extended stay. ”If I were to put money on it, no. He would never come back on any kind of full-time way,” she said. “He might come back to do an episode or two towards the end of the entire run, but no. He was ready to go.”
The actress teased that pin-up model Dita Von Teese is doing an upcoming episode. “I’m assuming she’s playing a burlesque character,” the actress says of Von Teese, who is a friend of CSI co-star Eric Szmanda and is known for her ”woman in a giant martini glass” routine.
Helgenberger is particularly thrilled with her storyline this season. ”I’m getting the opportunity to play different colors this season because I have a boyfriend on the show, played by Alex Carter. He’s been great. I’ve enjoyed it because it hasn’t been like all cerebral stuff. It’s been passionate. It’s been vulnerable. It’s been emotional. It’s been taking me to places that I don’t get to do on the show. That’s kept it fresh. And I enjoy working with him.” – With reporting from Vlada Gelman

This show is so tired and over. Last one out turn off the lights.
I watch the show because of her. I didn’t really miss Peterson leaving, but Marg will signal the end of CSI to me
Marg was on LLS with Ferguson last week and she said this was her last season and that they were not going to kill her off.
Well when she leaves that will finally be the nail in the CSI’s coffin. Probably a good thing, it’s been on for a long time and it’s time to go
Marg Helgenberger is a very gifted actress. She’s great on CSI,and hope that movies are in her future.
First of all it isn’t her show. William Petersen is one of the show’s producers and it was sad to see him go, but loosing Helgenberger, you aren’t loosing much. Her character changed for the bad over the seasons. The show will end it’s run soon but it won’t be because of her leaving. Good bye, Marg, and good luck but I won’t be missing you.

Technically, it was Gary first, then the others, but CSI is still great, no matter who’s in it.
Oh. . . For me is the end of CSI. Jorja first, and then william and now margh? Thats not right!!!
I’ll be watching as long as there is someone from the original cast on it!
Looks to me like CSI is going down in the ratings ’cause it STILL on Thursdays just like what ER did. Thought CBS would’ve move this crime drama on another night and/or time. Les Moonves doesn’t have the brains here to fix his schedule because of too many ratings, he’s hoping to axed more than one show so let’s hope he doesn’t messed things up.
As long as Marg stays, I’m in. Seeing Peterson go was hard, but I like her character just as much. But if she leaves, I’m out. I like George Eads, but two main characters exiting is too much to lose for me.
I really hope she stays around. I’ve always liked her character.
It won’t be the same without her.
I am totally ok with her going, I never cared very much for her character anyway. I am enjoying Fishburn and have alway liked Greg and Nick. I do miss Warrick and Grissom, though. Everything changes.
I’d rather she stay and get rid of Sara Seidle.
She’s crazy. An actor her age should ride the money train until it crashes. It is hard to find work for women of a certain age.
first William Petersen. now Marge (my personal favorite). producers really need to get a clue and realize this show is way past it’s prime. put it out of it’s – and our – misery.
