Exclusive: 'Prison Break' baddie confirms he's doing 'Breakout Kings' for A&E in early 2011

breakout-kingsImage Credit: Michael Caulfield/WireImage.comWelcome back to TV, T-Bag! Robert Knepper told EW exclusively that he has closed a deal to resurrect his classic Prison Break convict T-Bag in the A&E fugitive-themed drama Breakout Kings. The decision by Prison Break producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora to court Knepper for their new A&E show was first reported by The Ausiello Files. “We’re done. We inked a deal. I’m gonna do it! T-Bag will live again!” Knepper told EW on Thursday. “What I realized by saying yes to that is that now they’ll entertain the possibility of a T-Bag spinoff. Like a Hannibal Lecter-type series. Or a doll line. It’d be big with the kids!”

He’s kidding…we think. Anyway, Knepper told EW he’ll begin filming right after Thanksgiving. Kings, which is described as an “action-packed ensemble drama following an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives on the run,” received an 11th hour reprieve last spring from A&E after Fox opted not to pick it up. It’s set to premiere in early 2011.

“I have to dust off the Southern accent. I have not seen a script. I am putting my faith in these guys’ hands. The only thing I asked was that T-Bag doesn’t die. And they said, ‘Oh, no don’t worry. He won’t.’ He came close many times but managed to cheat and escape death. He’s Teflon.” — With reporting from Carrie Bell

    Very cool.

EXCLUSIVE: Actor Robert Knepper can’t seem to find a job so he’s reprising his role as T-Bag from show that was extremely terrible and only got worse. He needs the money desperately as he can’t seem to keep the garbage trailer he lives in.

      • I Know.

If only he were successful as some anonymous poster talking $h1t on a message board.

      • mary

actually he is a very talented actor that played one of the best bad guys in a show over the recent years
so i dont think he needs that money

  • melissa

    OMG T-BAG. That’s awesome.

  • beth

what a retarded idea for a show!!! t bag was a serial killer!!!!!

    • Zakry

      So is Dexter. Your point?

      • beth

nobody knows dexter is a serial killer and he kills other bad people-t bag kills anyone he pleases and is a convicted murderer and pyscho who loves and cares for nobody-and yes i do watch dexter! do you?

      • Jace

Uhh, yes, people do know he’s a serial killer. Granted, most of them are dead now, but Lumen still knows. Even if nobody knows Dexter is a serial killer, it doesn’t change the fact that he is one, so he isn’t any different from T-Bag, even if he does kill “bad” people. Wait, isn’t Dexter bad because he’s a murderer? Beth, think next time before you comment.

    • AntiBeth

I guess you’ve never heard of Showtime’s hit show “Dexter.”

  • Kalie

I miss “Prison Break”, even T-Bag. He may have been a creepy killer, but he was an entertaining character. I hated the way the show ended, though.

    • Big Walt

I miss the first season, maybe second, of Prison Break. It got ridiculous after that.

      • Angel2480

HDNET shows 2 episodes of Prison Break every week night so I started watching and it just reminded me how much I still miss that show. Plus, the eye candy isn’t bad either.

      • b

Agreed on that it got ridiculous – for me it was after Season 2. Long live TBag though!!!

  • reb

Hooray! T-Bag is one of my all time favorite characters. So creepy, and so awesome!

  • AA

Didn’t he sew his own hand back on?

    • Jennifer

No he ended up with a fake hand. I always thought it was ironic or poetic justice that they chopped off his hand when he handcuffed himself to Michael because Michael had 2 of his toes cut off in season one.

  • MWeyer

And Breakout Kings has been automatically added to my DVR.

  • chris

I am pretty happy for this t bag was always an iteresting character on prison break. I loved the way the show ended. I thought that was the perfect way to end that show.

  • Tom

Great character and this sounds interesting. That said- as bad as seasons 3 and 4 were, I liked how they ended it with Knepper’s character (SPOILER ALERT…. back at Fox River). Though I can’t figure a way for this to happen that would make sense, it would be cool if they gave Paul Adelstein a cameo or guest spot at some point (even if he’s just on tv or something)

  • Elizabeth

Yay! T-Bag was always one of my favorite characters on PB. Not cause he was a good guy, obviously, but because Knepper did such a brilliant job making him creepy. Can’t wait to watch him again!

  • Kate

This should be interesting, I must say I should rewatch the final season other than Michael and Sarah (and the ones who showed up at his gravesite), I don’t remember what happened to every one else. And I did not watch the DVD because when it came out, I was still kind of upset over the ending and just seriously, couldn’t Michael and Sarah have caught a break?

  • Fi

    A&E series never last.

    • Ali

What about the Glades? That got more viewers than some shows on NBC and ABC.

  • Jay

This is amazing! Can’t wait..Hope it is for multiple episodes..

    • anonymous

Does anyone remember him on Heroes ? That show went downhill fast when he joined the series.

      • Silent Rage

Do you remember season’s 2 and 3 of heroes? Apparently not because that show was already headed in that direction by then.

  • MCS

Does anyone remember him on Carnivale? He did a solid job in a smaller role.

    • Angel2480

I can’t even talk about that show! I am still mad at HBO over that show being pulled before it was finished. Great show!

    • Silent Rage

Oh how I miss that show…

      • mary

        me too

    • ATK

I do, It was one of the things that made me want to watch Prison Break because I was so impressed with him on Carnivale I wanted to see what he did next, and he did not disappoint. Anyone remeber him poping up in (i think it was the first season) Star Trek TNG?

  • Kara

Awesome! When does this series start? I can’t find a date for it.
