Image Credit: Ray Mickshaw/FoxOlivia Wilde — aka the beloved Thirteen — has some good news for House fans: She will definitely return to the Fox drama this season! Wilde took a leave of absence this fall to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys and Aliens but confirms to EW that her comeback is already in the works.
“I am coming back to House. This season, as a matter of fact. It is a done deal,” Wilde told EW while attending the 19th Annual BAFTA LA Britannia Awards Thursday in Los Angeles. “I have been really lucky this year to be offered all these great film opportunities and I was also blessed to have a job in TV that really worked with me to get me to a place where I could do those films and not miss those opportunities like Tron.
“They have it all worked out and the viewers will find out where she went and why she left,” Wilde continued. “I think it is an interesting progression for her. Thirteen has been through a lot so it has to be escalated. She has Huntington’s. She had a brain tumor and went blind. She had a bad breakup. She’s sexually ambiguous. She had problems with drugs. I thought, `What else can (creator) David Shore possibly come up with?’ They had to take it to a whole new level. They are really taking some big risks this year, which is exciting.”
Until then, Wilde said she’s working on the body-swapping comedy The Change Up with Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Mann and Jason Bateman. “We’re shooting in Atlanta. It is so boring and dull. No one laughs. We just sit around and cry all day. [Laughs]. No, it is absolutely the funniest job.” — With reporting from Carrie Bell

First of all, why are my comments not showing up? They are entirely clean and not crude. All I want to say is that I was really looking forward to Amber Tamblyn being cast a regular and replacement for Wilde’s blatantly monotonous and incredibly boring character.
I don’t know about your others, but I love this one, and agree completely. I haven’t watched the show since the third episode of this season, but will be back for Tamblyn.

nothing against amber, but i really thought keiko agena would have made a good addition to the cast…. does every female lead on this show have to be caucasian? they do diverse casting at house, but have yet to have a female character that is recurring that isn’t white. it’s not like an asian doctor was a stretch or anything. that being said, i don’t believe in casting people of different ethnicities just because… but i see no reason why they wouldn’t take the opportunity to do so at some point…

obviously you do believe in casting different ethnicities or you wouldn’t care if all the recurring women are white but I do agree with you that keiko agena would have been a good addition bc she’s a good actress and she is beautiful but either way who cares what race the characters are and for everyone else out there who doesn’t like olivia wilde your all idiots she’s beautiful and she is a really good actress if she wasn’t she wouldn’t have gotten the part in the show or the big budget movies she’s in she would be sitting at home with some crappy job like most of us the spend our time blogging and that includes me so stop being jealous of her and how is her character boring she is the second most interesting character on the show she’s bisexual she has a disease that is slowly going to kill her she’s had drug problems bc she was trying to live her life how she wanted and if she wasn’t a good actress and a fan favorite they wouldn’t bother bringing her back now would they so even though I respect your right to your own opinion please know that your wrong and the majority of house fans are the ones who make you wrong
I love the character 13, and I wish they gave who more to do. The thing is, she doesn’t always mix with the light-hearted episodes, or ones with light-hearted undertones. I’d say the direction of the series right now is to focus on House and Cuddy. None of the characters are interesting atm, but we know more about the others, especially Chase and Foreman, so it’s easy to lose objectivity.

Yay for Olivia coming back. I love her as much as i dislike Jennifer Morrison and her lack of acting habilities. I just hope Amber Tamblyn stays in the show. These two pretty young women will make things more interesting.

Longtime viewer of House. I stopped watching this season because I got bored, but when Olivia comes back, I will be there. And she can even act a little bit!
OMG! Thirteen is my second favorite character besides House! I cannottttt wait for her to come back, although I just like the way the House/Cuddy relationship is going.
Even though all of you guys do not live Olivia and her character. I love her and to me House kinda of got boring after she left. I can not wait for her to be back on the show!!
