'Dancing With the Stars' scare: Authorities rush to scene after discovery of unknown powder

The Los Angeles Police Department and ABC confirm with EW that police and FBI authorities rushed to CBS Television City Friday after an envelope containing an unknown substance was delivered to the Dancing With the Stars production office. The scare, however, was short-lived: Police cleared the scene after discovering the substance in question was not a hazardous material, but talcum powder. A statement from ABC reads, “Security and the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department were immediately notified. Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel.” The network and LAPD are not revealing any other details at this time.

    Probably some crazed Teabagger.

    • jjehu

Teabag this you piece of garbage!

      • Tha Hell…?

Ummm. I think you need therapy.

    • Anon

More likely some crazy anti-”teabagger” who is pi$$ed at the Bristol “conspiracy”. That makes more sense, no?

      • sup

        I agree /b/ro

      • Jane

Or it could be a teabagger trying to generate sympathy for Bristol.

    • RYan

Nice… Your assumption is just about as well reasoned as when Bloomberg said the Time Square Bomber was probably upset about the health care bill.

  • Justin

OH please. What are they going to say that the man that shot his tv sent it?

    • Problem?

Unnecessary emphasis on “Oh”? Giiiirl PLEASE.

    • Carla

Coulda been worse..can you imagine what would have happened after he saw Tuesday’s elimination!

  • beau

    Bunch of paranoid lunatics!

    • Calm Yo Sheet.

I know you are, sir, but you need to calm down. This IS, after all, just the comment section of an unimportant “news” development regarding DANCING WITH THE STARS.

      • ?

He’s saying there are crazy lunatics around which is true. This is a comment section after all.

  • Zach

Talcum powder is baby powder. Nobody puts Bristol’s baby in a corner!

  • Kem

No need to worry. Bristol wasn’t there because she was too busy stuffing her fat face at McDonalds.

    • B.A.

      LMAO! You said it!

    • SXiPPY

Totally, it’s not like her chunky ass and those thunder thighs of chub have gotten any smaller throughout the course of the competition. Look how much weight Kelly Osbourne lost, but that was because she actually gave it her all while dancing. Bristol’s lazy ass lucidly dances like a coked out Brintey at the 2007 VMA’s doing “Gimme More”.

      • Brit

You people have serious problems. Just evil and vile. This is just a dance show and you should be ashamed of yourself. No, I’m not a tea party person…no I don’t vote for Bristol…but as a fellow human being, get a grip and show some respect!

  • tom

    bristol needed blasting off

    • B.A.

This crap show needs to be canceled NOW.It used to be fun,but it has jumped the shark with these pathetic,non-stars like Bristol,Kate Gosselin, and the Situation, and Tom DeLay.

      • Devin Faraci

Get a life, you miserable losers! It’s just a moronic TV show!

  • U Betcha

Yeah, the word “Star” has definitely been misused when the cast roster comes out. I don’t view these people as “Stars” just because they are tabloid fodder and tubulent douchebags. Andy Warhol would be rolling in his grave knowing that these people are actually exceeding more than just their 15 minutes of “fame”. What’s Bristol famous for, spreading her legs underage? Wow, such an accomplishment that maybe I too can use to parlay my way to fame. Who’s going to be on next season, that girl from MTV’s “Teen Moms” who got her kid taken away?

  • Kay

Have heard comments that others who have gotten this far have done it because they were popular and not necessarily good dancers, but usually the final 4 have been good dancers and the ones who end up in the final 3 and the winners Are good.
Actualy Bristol has improved and it sounds like she thinks that’s why she is where she is. But there are always improved dancers on the show who don’t get near the Finals.
Maybe the shows producers though she would be on 3, maybe 4 weeks at the top and then would be gone.
I don’t think she should be as far as she has gone, but it takes guts to get out there for Any of them because no matter if they’ve had dance training it is a completely different way of dancing and how many of us want to get out there in front of millions of people and then have people make judgements on you. And the rehearsals which are very demanding.
Not liking them as dancers and maybe a bit more is going to happen. I’m sure tho as far as looks go everyone here is thin and beautiful and their lives are so perfect and good that they think they have the right to be cruel toward others. Just wanting to know.

  • talkin’

    More drama.
    How Palinesque.

  • Jan

Well you have lost a faithful viewer. You have Bristol on the show and 1st,she is not a star and not the best dancer. I agree she has improved but not enough to win or for the producer to defend her. Change the name of the show ans then you can have any Joe Blow off the street on the show. Shame on you. I really enjoyed watching the (STARS) dance. I am now an ex watcher.

  • John

You people are sick. Probably some of the same people that loved Jon Stewarts Rally to Restore Sanity are coming on here wishing that this girl would choke on a hamburger or get killed or would otherwise be gone. I’m glad I don’t associate with freaks like some of you people.

  • Carrie #2

Oh my gosh, a show starring dancers has talcum powder lying around?! Call the authorities!

    • Carrie #2

Eh wait, it was in an envelope so that makes this null and void. Didn’t read thoroughly, sorry.

  • Deborah

There is probably some crazed Liberal/Democrat targeting the show…I don’t know, but i think it is pathetic and I think the bullying on these websites about Bristol is terrible. She is getting my votes and I am an Independent/Democrat so there folks

  • TOM

People are really taking this voting outcome way too seriously. I’m sure this powder didn’t arrive from Yemen or some Middle East ‘watching DWTS in the mountains’ country. America…hide in your storm shelters Tuesday night if the wrong winner is crowned. I smell rioting, picketing, protest and vandalism.

  • Al

If this was targeted in anyway towards Bristol or the show in general,I hope those responicible are caught and punished.
