'30 Rock' holiday episode scoop: Exec producer Robert Carlock teases a family reunion -- and wedding?

30-rock-holidayImage Credit: Nicole Rivelli/NBCHow will Liz Lemon and company be celebrating the holidays? With (SPOILER ALERT) some pretty major life events, particularly for expectant-dad Jack (Alec Baldwin), though the bundle of joy isn’t due until early 2011. “The Christmas episode is the big one for us,” executive producer Robert Carlock says. “It’s the long-awaited reunion of Jack’s biological parents. A couple of years ago, Jack discovered his real father, but just to avoid an argument, he hasn’t told his mother that he knows her shameful sex secret.” That means guest appearances from Elaine Stritch and Alan Alda as said parents, with the requisite on-screen fireworks.

Leading up to that family reunion, Will Forte will return as Jenna’s drag-queen-who-dresses-as-her boyfriend for a few episodes. “They have some ups and downs,” Carlock says. “He wants to try to be a normal couple, and she is afraid of that level of commitment.” New Year’s, meanwhile, will herald the return of another significant-other guest star, thanks to possible nuptials for Jack and baby-mama Avery (Elizabeth Banks): “The plan is for Jack and Avery to get married on New Year’s Eve on a French-speaking island,” Carlock teases, “but we discover when they get back that not everything went as planned.”

  • dropper

    Sounds good.

  • zing

    NO!!!!!
Jack and Avery can’t get married. You are ruining everything!!! stop!!! it will be the worst!! please no :(

  • tnsmoke

I don’t want Jack to marry Avery and want him not to be the real Father of her baby. Jack can do better and we don’t need a “baby” on 30 Rock.

    • gah

      ditto

    • meapril2

      Completely agree.

    • Elizabeth

Me either… Jack should never get married.

  • Cimdyyy

    No Avery Please !

  • Jen

    Avery, go away.

  • Franky

I’d love to see Isabella Rossellini again.

    • Eric

He knows how much she loves her big beef-n-cheddars…

  • Christine

I thought Jack didn’t tell his mother because he wanted something to whisper to her on her death bed.

  • go home Avery

Adding to the chorus of ‘NO MORE AVERY’. Please writers! Jack and Avery have no romantic chemistry whatsoever. This marriage is a horrible idea.

  • Ugh

Avery is just another Bianca. Jack is marrying the same type of competitive lady that he already divorced because of all the anguish? DOES.NOT.COMPUTE.

Also Avery is not a Jack Donaghy with boobs. Jack has warmth and compassion; Avery is just an empty, mean and unfunny character.

  • Kristen

I like Elizabeth Banks, but I’m with everyone else on this one. Not a huge Avery fan.
I can’t see Jack and Avery lasting. While they may be similar, 30 Rock is 30 Rock, and happy isn’t funny.

  • Tony

Just throwing it out there…be happy with Avery over the horrible and dragging plotline of Nancy Donovan (Julianne Moore) cause that would have been worse.
Don’t really care who Jack is with as long as it doesn’t interfere with “whatever this is” with Lemon

  • Michael

Well, I like Avery! I thought she’s been really funny lately.

    • chez

Hormonal acting is funny? All she does is raise her voice an octave higher. It’s painful.

She was ok in her first few episodes but that’s because she was just Donaghy’s new plaything. Now that the novelty has worn off, there is nothing appealing to watch about that character at all.

  • tim

    I’m pro-Avery. Love Elizabeth Banks.

Can’t BLOODY wait for Alan Alda vs. Elaine Stritch!

    • chez

I am ok with Elizabeth Banks but she is just not working on 30 Rock. She doesn’t have chemistry with Alec Baldwin and she hasn’t been funny to justify a semi-regular spot.

  • Caz

    NO MORE AVERY!
It will mess up Jack/Liz bro’s before ho’s pact. NOT GOOD.
