'Castle' scoop: Will Castle seal deal with Beckett?

Tags: ,

castleImage Credit: Michael Desmond/ABCNow this is one mother-of-a-teaser for you Castle fans who’ve been aching for Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) to seal the deal. Talking exclusively to EW, Katic teased that all their sexual tension may finally lead to something on Jan. 10. “They are going to get super close in episode 13. Closer than they’ve ever gotten before,” the actress said while walking the red carpet of the American Music Awards on Sunday. “I’ll leave you with that.”

Katic keeps saying to anyone who will listen that these two belong together. “They are meant to be. I think they can be a couple and still be spicy and funny. Everyone else is like, ‘Oh no we can’t do that. That will ruin it. That will kill the show.’ [A Moonlighting] curse has come up. But no way, man. Don’t believe in it at all.”

Until then, obstacles continue to arise. Just this week, the ABC drama began production on the Jan. 3 episode that stars Laura Prepon as Natalie Gray, the actress who’s been cast as Nikki Heat in the movie version of Castle’s book Heat Wave. As fans know, the author based Nikki on his beloved Beckett. So will sparks fly when Natalie shadows Beckett as she investigates a millionaire matchmaker death with Castle? “She comes in to trail Beckett and study her, learn about her,” says Fillion, who also walked the red carpet Sunday. “Castle is really cheesed because she has never read the books. She’s only read the screenplay and she’s just into the character and not the words or the man who created Nikki Heat. At first he was like, ‘I can’t believe they picked her,’ and now he’s all, ‘I can’t believe she isn’t paying attention to me.’ It causes some friction at the workplace to say the least. He likes to be the center of attention.”

“Beckett is okay with it at first,” adds Katic. “Beckett’s the one who invites her in and figures it will be no different than Castle following her, but then it starts to get a little too Single White Female.” – With reporting from Carrie Bell

episode 11 is Jan 3rd, So ep 12 (not 13) would be Jan 10th

  • Alie

OH MY!!! so excited. so only 3 more episodes/6 more weeks! I trust they won’t let us down.

  • KS

This just made my day! I love this show sooooo much. It actually makes me look forward to Mondays. I can’t wait to find out what she is talking about!

    • Tico

Didn’t EW say a short while ago that Victor Webster was going to be introduced as a Becket love interest? When is that going to be?

      • Tess McGill

Yes, he’s supposed to have a recurring role all season.

      • Alie

They are doing a horrible job at making us believe he even exists. Now we (I) see these spoilers and the Dec 6 promo and think, “Why did they even give Beckett a SO?”

  • Michelle

I agree with Stana; I think they can have Beckett and Castle in a relationship and have it not kill the show. Chuck’s managed to do just fine. Can’t wait for the new episodes!

    • jdstorm

I Love Chuck. but the relationship did fundamentally change what the show is. From the end of season two when chuck and sarah got together the tone of the show changed.

It is still one of my favorite shows but it is completely different to what it was.

      • Alie

yeah, but when you really look at the shows they arent THAT similar

      • Ange

Hooking up Chuck and Sara did change the show somewhat but it was time. They couldn’t have kept drawing out the UST without the quality of the show going down.

The loss of quality has become a possibility with Castle this year as they keep them apart for longer and longer.

      • Alie

I agree Chuck has changed but the premise of the show is different. Castle doesn’t NEED to be there at the precinct, yet on the other hand Chuck is pretty much tied to the government because he flashes. I also think Chuck and Castle have COMPLETELY different personalities. At first glance I see what you are saying, but then when you start looking closer they are actually very different

      • BKWurm1

Chuck has changed but I’d say for the better. THe will they/won’t they was getting in the way of the rest of the show and now it is just another aspect rather than an obsticle. Too soon for Castle, but eventually would be good.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

Well I don’t think they are getting together, that’s too soon. I’m hoping that maybe they will almost kiss or at least admit that they have feelings for each other…

    • ginger

thank you someone who agrees with me who do you think castle perposes to in the next episode hopefully they do admit there feelings for eachother and kiss

  • Alie

I think it’s going to be tied to her mother’s murder b/c the title is “knockdown”. and I think that’s what will bring them super close.

  • anne

I hope it is as good as it sounds. Thank heavens for Katic – she has a good sense about these 2 characters.

  • Clo

I know it won’t be as close as I’d like them to get but I just can’t wait. I’m guessing this will be the episode that deals with her mother’s murder. Oh, this could be really good.

  • Leigh

Sounds like a great tease. Any move forward is a good move. Sounds like a GREAT episode! Can’t wait.

  • steve

nooooooooooooooo dont want them getting together

    • Alie

Why? If the drag “will they? won’t they?” too long fans will get fed up and stop watching.

      • Crystal

Totally agree. Bones is coming to mind right now…

      • Patty

Totally right about Bones–I’ve loved that show from the start but it’s getting a little old wondering when Bones will finally realize Booth is the one.

  • R.J. MacReady

A show that’s essentially an updated version of Murder She Wrote should not be nervous about shifting their paradigm to Hart to Hart.

    • Alie

my opinion is that as long as the writers remember it’s a murder mystery show and not a daytime soap than a relationship will only enchance the show. Plus Castle has some pretty AWESOME supporting characters so they can definitely do it right with the right amount of creativity and story line balance

      • CB

Esposito and Ryan have been fantastic this season, I can’t wait to see where they take them as well.

      • Alie

Eposito is such a Caskett ‘shipper. I love when he walks in on them at awkward times and says, “Are we interupting something? ;p”

      • Alyssa

I liked the ” Hickie” Joke he played on them. ” Is that a Hickie?” Beckett:” No”, Ryan:” Yes” Castle:” I wish”.

AND they actually fell asleep on eachother in the car. OH my mind is dirty.

    • Ange

      Well said!

  • Dawn

I totally agree with Stana. Now I can’t wait to see episode 13!

  • Alyssa

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THANK YOU STANA! Nobody knows the sexual fantasies I have had about these two getting together so its nice to hear something might happen finally.

  • talkin’

“closer than they’ve ever been before” is good :D

  • Sam

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!! i dont think that theyll actually hook up this episode, but theyll at least get one step closer:) especially if the eppy has something to do with beckett’s mother, shes gonna need someone to lean on, a shoulder to cry on if necessary (CASTLES SHOULDER) CANT WAIT!!!!:)
