Image Credit: Christopher Smith/PR PhotosEW has exclusively learned that Groundhog Day star Andie MacDowell has been cast as the character Grey in ABC Family’s drama pilot What Would Jane Do. The one-hour scripted drama follows Jane (to be played by The Lake‘s Erica Dasher), a 16-year-old who goes to work for a cutting edge fashion company after the people there mistake her for an adult. MacDowell’s Grey is described as “the hard-nosed, tough-as-nails boss that Jane goes to work for.”
In a release, ABC Family described the show as such: “Jane soon finds herself juggling life as a regular teenager in high school and as an assistant to a high-powered executive in the cutthroat world of fashion … all while trying to keep her true identity a secret.” Should like a cross between Disney’s Hannah Montana and Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP — now, with a diva-licious Andie MacDowell at the helm.

ABC Family developing series that sounds vaguely like ‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead’!

This sounds like half of the plot of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead.
That exactly what I screamed out when I read the synopsis!
Oh My Gosh! Exactly what I was thinking. This is the same sub-plot of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead.
And Andie McDowell? Well ABCFamily is not known for picking people who can actually “act”, and scripts that aren’t cheesy….so I guess this isn’t a surprise.
Andie McDowell? As hard as nails boss? Really?
Will Glenn Close dub all of McDowell’s lines? Only way I would see this.
This kind of reminds me of “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead”
This is just like the sub-plot in “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead”! I remember watching that movie as a kid just because I loved that part of the story. Really looking forward to a reboot!
It sounds similar to “Don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead” but without a dead babysitter.
It would be hard to imagine worse casting than Andie MacDowell playing “tough” or “hard-as-nails”. It’s easier to imagine a sixteen year old being HER boss, and scaring the crap out of her.
I’m really hoping that this will fill that Ugly Betty-sized hole in television. I need a weekly dose of b*tchy fashion people, stat.
r u kidding me this is exactly wat true jackson starring keke palmer is about. This is stealing they should b ashamed of themselves
