'Grey's Anatomy' creator Shonda Rhimes preps show about PR crisis management

Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice auteur Shonda Rhimes is working on a drama contender for ABC’s slate about public relations expert Judy Smith, who helped the likes of Bill Clinton and Michael Vick through major scandals, network reps confirm. (Vulture first reported the news.) The show, which is just in the script stages now, will include both procedural elements — with the case-of-the-week format so popular on doctor and lawyer shows — and the soapy-quirky antics of the staff that Rhimes has perfected on her other series. The project is one of several Rhimes has in the pipeline; her doctors-without-borders drama Off the Map premieres in January, and she’s also developing a drama about divorced folk called Life After Marriage.

Very unlikeable person if you ask me, but maybe some people will find her sympathetic.

Since I took that crap called Private Practice off my DVR, I guess I can give her another chance and watch a new show of hers. I;m still pissed that she took one of my favorite tv character (Addison) into a whore. Why why would she get with her best friend ex husband. The same man who dumped her best friend without warning leaving said best friend on the bathroom floor crying. They also have that super annoying chick playing Derek’s sister on there. She makes my ovaries hurt!

      Sina,

Addison’s sexual pursuits were questionable even before she slept with Sam. To be outraged at this stage seems pointless IMO being that she had an full blown affair with her former husband’s best friend in their bed, got knocked up, and continued to live with him until she remembered that she was still married. Then there was Alex Karev before she moved on to PP.

I understand that but I loved Addison still. Addison and Mark and Addison and Karev were perfect. I wanted a love triangle so badly. But your best friend’s ex? I can’t get past that. Then she calls him perfect. Just wait until he dumps her and leaves her on the bathroom show crying.

I have to agree that they really morally downgraded Addison. Her very best friend’s ex-husband? Yuck. Her character is smart and sexy surely she could find a nice man somewhere else.

    Sina is just jealous. STFU.

i wonder if any of these are going to be created/written by her like GA & PP are aka TRULY her work. or if she’ll just be producing them like she does on off the map.

A network show that’s not about cops, lawyers, or hospitals? How exciting!

  • Princey

I am glad to see a different type of show than those that are currently offered. I’m a fan of many of them but something different might be good.

I am excited about this! PR is my field so a show about it would be refreshing as opposed to another medical or law related show.

It must be me but I find her writing bland at best and her characters not very interesting. I stopped watching Grey’s a couple of years ago (although I love Kevin mcKidd) and found PP full of immature people who I would not want to hang around with so why watch them on TV. Just do not see me watching any of these new ones either.

Am I the only one that is liking the PR idea? I am still bummed I didn’t get to see that reporter pilot she wrote last year. I do no think Life After Marriage will get picked up, though.

Dare we hope she’ll revisit actors she’s worked with in the past and make this her Jeffrey Dean Morgan show?
