'Dexter' producer drops clues about Sunday's 'Hop a Freighter,' plus two exclusive clips from the episode!

Dexter-finaleSee that over there? That’s the end of Dexter‘s fifth season, peeking around the corner, holding a needle behind its back, waiting anxiously for you. The only thing standing between you and it is Sunday’s “Hop a Freighter,” the second-to-last episode of the year. Craving a preview of the action? You’ve come to the right blog post. We give you four teases from Dexter executive producer Manny Coto—and two exclusive clips from the episode.

No. 1: “It’s a great moment of panic when you realize someone is spying on you but you don’t know who it is and what exactly have they seen. For Dexter, it’s the world’s worst nightmare…. The audience knows that it’s Liddy, but when Dexter finds out that the surveillance equipment has been checked out by Quinn, his trail leads toward Quinn. What’s Dexter going to do to stop Quinn, who he believes is on his trail?

No. 2: “Having worked alongside Deb for this entire season and slowly getting together and at the same time backing off from each other, Quinn finally bears his soul to Deb in such a way that she can no longer ignore what’s happened between them. And this is going to be complicated by the fact that Dexter believes that Quinn is spying on him.”

No. 3: “Deb narrows down the evidence against Jordan and believes she has enough to put him into custody— only to realize that it’s going to be harder than she imagined.”

No. 4: “Jordan Chase makes his ultimate gambit toward getting Dexter where he wants him. He makes a move that leaves Dexter devastated by the end of the episode.”

Now that you’ve been clued in, tell us: What do you think will happen on this week’s episode?

i’m guessing quinn eill confess to deb that he had liddy follow dex and deb will tell dex. i also think jordan has the nanny and harrison.

    • Merideth

I agree with you that Dex being devastated will have something to do with Harrison being kidnapped. We didn’t hear about him at all last episode after he left with the nanny, and I just don’t have good feeling. Ahhhh Sunday get here please!

  • Merideth

Awesome. Cannot wait but don’t want this season to end! It has turned out to be AMAZING. Really hope Lumen sticks around because I am loving her and Dex together.

    • Meredith

We have more than a name in common… I feel *exactly* the same way!

  • Will E.

This is how I see this episode taking shape, first Dexter will search his apartment, find the cameras with the serial numbers on them, link them to Miami Metro, but leave the cameras in place to not cause attention, he finds out it’s Quinn, and starts to follow Quinn while juggling the Lumen/Jordan Chase situation. There will be some chasing, planning, and revelations before the end of episode 11, but it will end with Dexter being Jordan’s kidnapping victim. This kidnapping will put Lumen over the edge, and she will have to plan, prepare, and find a way to get to Dexter, save him, and have time enough for them to kill Jordan, and find out how much Miami Metro, Quinn, and Deb really know about Dexter and Lumen’s Dark Passenger.

  • Jenn

Does anyone think that Jordan Chase will murder Lumen and all the deaths will be pinned on her? I don’t want to watch Dexter mope again next season because all his playmates die… Hoping I’m wrong and there is a thrilling conclusion,

  • Kate

My guess is that they kill off Lumen this week. She’s going to have to be killed off either this week or next week because they won’t keep her on for more than one season. Plus, if they kill off Lumen this week, then it sets up a great revenge-driven finale of Dexter vs. Jordan Chase. But I agree with whoever said something’s going to happen with baby Harrison – he’s had too big of a role this season to not be prominent in the finale.

    • gah

i agree with this! it will make me sad though cause i really like the addition of Lumen.

    • Merideth

If Lumen is to die, which I don’t think she will, it won’t be until the finale. Julia Stiles is signed on through episode 12 and Lumen is in the synopsis for the finale.

  • Lynn

No. 4: “Jordan Chase makes his ultimate gambit toward getting Dexter where he wants him. He makes a move that leaves Dexter devastated by the end of the episode.”-Guess this means the end of Lumen, leaving Dexter never wanting to hook-up with another woman again, this sucks!

    • jodipo

it may be Harrison who is in danger, not Lumen

    • noworries

Jordan and Lumen and Emily are in that scene together that is on you tube and everywhere else, he doesn’t kill Lumen, he takes her. That is how she is in Ep. 12 and the writers have talked about a possible continuation of that relationship because of the reaction!

    • lisa

Im thinking he grabs Harrison, but could Chase get Deb? That would leave Dexter devastated and would be a huge twist.

  • Jason

I stopped watching Dexter after watching the first episode of the fifth season. I was left uneasy after the end of season 4. I know they’re just characters, but part of the reason you watch is because you care about them — and it was horrible for me to see Rita dead. I suppose my hope was that Dexter’s connection to her could allow him to overcome his “dark passenger” — and it was just too dark for me to imagine what he’d have to go through afterwards. I realized I didn’t like that sick feeling of having my guts twisted in anxiety at the end of every episode and that I want to hold onto some hope that humanity isn’t doomed. So I just couldn’t watch anymore.

    • mike b

If you don’t watch dexter than why are you on this blog?

  • legallyblonde

Sorry Jason. You’re missing the best show on television.

Liddy, Lumen and Jordan will die. Harrison is kidnapped by the nanny because he’s become her life.

Dexter is more human, but devastated.

  • Sharlin

    O M G. I grew up in Hialeah!

  • KC

Not to nitpick, but according to SHO site, 5-11 episode isn’t “Hialeah And Fourth”–it’s “Hop A Freighter” ( finale next week, “Through A Glass, Darkly”.

    • Laura

They changed the finale title to “The Big One” a few weeks ago so it’s likely they changed this one, too.

    • EW

The title did change; we have now updated the post. Thanks!

  • Shellibelli

jordan will kill Emily and kidnap Lumen thus causing a trap for Dexter.
    Liddy dies

  • Juliet

Jordan kidnaps Dexter, Lumen and Harrison and forces Dex to choose who will die, Lumen or Harrison.

  • Bee

I think Quinn is going to have a hard time coming out alive from the situation he’s in. Think he may kill Liddy though.

Lumen will live, would look bad for Dexter to have harsh things happening around him all the time (and a bunch of people in Dexter’s life know about her now).

    A kidnapping seems expected.

  • sf

I wonder if the Nanny, not as sweet as we believe, is actually part of something with Jordan/Lumen. That part is far to neat…finding this “angel”. Maybe she has a “dark” past as well.

    • mike b

I agree with sf. I think you are going to find out that she is wanted by Interpol for the kidnapping of children she has cared for in europe.

  • Neal

I think this season is my favorite so far, because Dexter seems so much more human and likable this season. I really like Lumen and I love that she has become Dexters partner in crime. I was hoping things would not get sexual between them but that went out the window last week. My favorite episode so far has been when Dexter stood up to Astors friend and beat the crap out of that abusive boyfriend. That was awesome. I was no fan of rita, and like it being all about Dexter again, and i really hope that Liddy buys the farm soon. Please let Lumen make it to the end of the season, Cant wait to see Dexter take out Jordan Chase.
