'CSI: NY' exclusive: Adrienne Barbeau to star

Adrienne-BarbeauImage Credit: Janette Pellegrini/WireImage.comApparently, the crew of CSI: New York is ridiculously excited about their latest guest star and frankly, we can’t blame them: EW has learned exclusively that Adrienne Barbeau will appear in a February episode of the CBS drama. She’ll play a clinic manager who plays an important part of an investigation to track down a hit man played by Ne-Yo. (Yes, you read that right. For more on the R&B star’s appearance in the episode, click here).

Barbeau, who’s best known for her work as Bea Arthur’s daughter in the ’70s comedy Maude, is currently playing the role of Suzanne Stanwyck, Brenda’s confidant who also heads a worldwide organization, on ABC’s General Hospital. Previously, she showed up in episodes of The Old Adventures of New Christine, Grey’s Anatomy, and Dexter.

CSI:NY airs Fridays on CBS. The drama has averaged 11.5 million viewers this season.

Awesome news! I don’t watch “CSI: New York”, but I will for Adrienne Barbeau. TV needs more Barbeau!

“CSI: NY” is doing exceptionally well in the casting department this season. Bringing in Sela Ward has rejuvenated the show and brought back the greatness that the early seasons once had. Absolutely love it.

    Thanks for the scoop, Lynette!

I love the show, and have always been fond of Sela Ward, but I wouldn’t say her casting has “rejuvenated the show.” For one thing, I don’t think the show had diminished in any way. And for another, Jo is hardly different from Stella. Outside of her character bio (her past and the fact she has kids), she might as well BE Stella. They hardly ever switch in actors to play the same character any more, but in this case, I don’t think it would’ve made any difference.

“To star” should be “to guest,” just like you write it on the smaller list of News & Headlines on the main page. But really, EW, avoid the Popeater-like misleading headlines.

How could you forget her performance in Carnivale? Sooo good.

    • MCS

I know, I can’t believe they left that off, it was one of her greatest roles.

She was in Escape From New York & The Fog, plus she gets extra points for voicing Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman: The Animated Series.

I think someone needs to mention this interesting connection: the actress who plays Brenda on GH is married to the actor who plays Danny on CSI:NY.

I haven’t seen Adrienne Breastbeau in years!

    • Tego Livi

We always called her “Adrienne Barboobs”.

  • Linde

I like her-pretty still as well

  • G8rfan

She was awesome in Carnivale. One of my favorite roles that I’ve seen her in.

  • Somebody

I love CSI: NY and I’m excited she’s going to be on the show.

  • no one

She’s 66 years old and looks it. No more sex symbol-sorry guys.
