Image Credit: Danny Feld/TNTThe Emmy nomination for co-star Andre Braugher and the critical claim didn’t do quite enough to lure more people to the second season premiere of Men of a Certain Age on Monday. The drama from Ray Romano and Mike Royce only averaged 2.4 million viewers on Monday and 990,000 adults ages 25-54. The drama was averaging 4.4 million viewers per week in its first season.
TNT ordered 10 episodes of the series that also stars Romano and Scott Bakula. The drama has turned into an Everybody Loves Raymond reunion, of sorts, in the writer’s room this year: Both Romano and Royce, as well as Men scribes Tucker Cawley and Lew Schneider, wrote for the CBS comedy.

What were the numbers for the Closer? After that went off, I didn’t stick for Men.
you are my fave. peace out
When you get older you always start out a little slow. Sometimes it takes hours before my morning constitution.
Guess your constant, annoying pop up ads for the show didn’t do much good.
so the same thing happened to Caprica on Syfy! I think they were averaging about 1.3 million viewers at the end of the first 10 and when they came back for the second half of the season it was barely getting like 700k. How do shows just “lose” half of their viewership?
Because they wait to premier in December…..
I would say the main problem is NO publicity …. I don’t live in the dark …. but did not know that the show was on until I saw Ray on Letterman last night !!
What did they expect, they are going up against Monday night football. When you figure in the people that go out to friends, bars and other places to watch football. Even if it comes at the back end of the game those are the numbers you are going to get.
This is such a great show…. Ray needs to promote it a bit more. Unfortunate that any quality program gets overlooked for crap like Jersey Shore. I hope TNT sticks with it!
I missed the premiere, but hope to catch a rerun. This show is quite entertaining!
I love this show. It competed with the big game on Mon. night I was busy clicking back and forth.
I’d be a lot more interested in this show if it didn’t star 3 such irritating actors.
Ray was talking about the ratings on Conan. It would be tough for any dude-centric show to fare well against a Pats/Jets game.
I really enjoy this show. It feels more real than most shows I see on television. I don’t know… I tell people I know about it, but like the other guy said, it’s hard to compete against Monday Night Football. Oh well, I’ll enjoy it while we have it. I hope you keep it, TNT!
The time slot is not great, but it’s a great show with intelligent writing. It was up against MNF last year so what’s different this year? No publicity? If my DVR hadn’t automatically been set to record it, I never would have known the new (extremely short) season started.
I like the show. But, I think they need better camera people. I’m tired of the wobbling around on close ups. I get a sick feeling with all of the bouncing around.
Get it together camera people……
