American Idol is going to Las Vegas. Roughly 60 contestants auditioning for the upcoming season of Idol will be performing Beatles songs on the same stage in the Las Vegas Mirage hotel that Cirque du Soliel performs its Beatles-themed show LOVE, an Idol insider confirms to EW. The contestants — winnowed down from the initial 325 potential superstars who made it to Hollywood week — will only be performing for judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, and not a live audience. The Vegas round will likely happen within the next week, perhaps by this weekend. (The Hollywood Reporter first reported the possibility of a Vegas trip.)
EW has also confirmed that, once the show finds its Top 12 finalists, Idol producers are seriously mulling increasing the coverage of the contestants inside the fabled Idol house. The insider points out that with likely more minors than ever in the Top 12, thanks to the new lower 15-years-old age requirement, several parents and/or guardians will likely be living in the Idol house as well, and that could make for some compelling television. (What is more unclear, and may be for quite some time, is where that “house” will be located in Los Angeles.) Another possibility: Giving each Top 12 contestant their own Twitter account, an experiment attempted last season with the Top 24, but eventually abandoned. Nothing has yet been set in stone, but it’s all part of an effort to make the contestants more accessible and relatable to Idol audiences. Fox has no comment on the reports.

I agree – I love the Beatles, however having to sit through a bunch of amateurs slaughtering the Beatles, YET AGAIN? PASS!!!

They are lucky that they get to have the memory of being in Las Vegas while competing for American Idol, no one else from American Idol has ever gotten to go to Vegas while competing. Who gives a crap about Hollywood?!?! Vegas is the place to be!!! VeGaS VeGaS VeGaS(to quote Chevy Chase in the movie Vegas Vacation)

G. and Rose A. WOW! I really don’t know what to think after tiohgnt! I was disappointed Carson Higgens got kicked off! I was not too surprised about Cris Medena. I didn’t think his solo was too good. I was glad to see that one girl go. They went kind of fast for me! Did Ashley is it Sullivan? The blond who is always whining get kicked off~the one girl I mention above? Not to be mean! But she has got on my last nerve! I am kind of nervous about tomorrow night. They did 2 hours tiohgnt even though it says above.(Nigel Scuttled doing 2 hours tiohgnt!) Because I was going to watch something else. But my husband said it’s not over. I sure hope James Durbin makes it. My husband said he is very talented. Rose, You and Phyllis are both my very dear friends since ADAM. I just love ADAM! You can go to google and google Adam and there is one ” At Upright Cabaret”, where he sings ” Dust in the Wind by Knasas.” So sweet a song coming out of Adams mouth! Phyllis, are you nervous about tomorrow? Have you or Rose any thoughts about who might not make it? I printed out their pictures and x~ed out the ones that did not make it.I hope Scotty McCreery makes it.But my hopes are not good. I am a bit confused because they called 7 up front and told them they had made it? Then they went to a second hour,and told 5 of them they had made it. Somebody Help me please. I’m going no where! Ditto. I am ok with the Beatles tunes. I wish they’d expand the artist list. But I don’t want to see any 15 year olds. Why 15, why not 14, or 13. If they had to change the age, it should go the other way. Wasn’t it 30 at one point? Waht about 32 or 35? And I certainly don’t want to see their parents, guardians, or other relatives.
I don’t even hear the engine revving up on the boat anymore. Idol has jumped the shark and its not even aired yet.
