Image Credit: HBOReady or not, here it comes! The final season of HBO’s Big Love is upon us, and with Jan. 16 inching closer, we have your exclusive first look at the beginning of the end.
So ponder with me TV insiders: What’s next for Senator Henrickson and his trio of wives following last season’s cliffhanger? Will Big Love stop introducing crazy plotlines and strip down for its last bow? And where can I buy Ginnifer Goodwin’s entire look from head to toe?
Big Love‘s season 5 premieres Jan. 16 at 9 p.m. ET.

Bye-bye, ‘Big Love’

I’ll be curious how Albie’s storyline progresses this season. He just started to get interesting.
He’s been interesting all along. By far the most interesting of the whole show.
Agreed 100%!
Someone’s gonna DIE!!!
In my opinion, last season was painfully bad, but the seasons before were great. So … I’ll give it a chance to win me back. But I won’t watch more than a couple of episodes before I say goodbye for good. Put it together, writers! I’m a sucker for good television! And I want to love this show again.
Agreed. Last season was off-the-rails guano-level crazy. It was like the writers were using a mad lib booklet to drive the plot. Let’s hope they redeem themselves in the final season.
It wasn’t THAT bad. That kind of crazy is reserved for a Ryan Murphy show. There were still some extremely moving and well-written moments last year.
I totally agree with you Melissa. There were some unrealistic, crazy things that happened last season, like lois cutting of Hollis’ arm, The Greene family in Mexico, Adaleen killing J.J. and his wife, and the stupid J.J. incest storyline but over all the season was pretty good and there was some extremely moving and well-written moments last year.
Maybe I’m reading too much into the artwork, but I’ll go crazy and make some predictions: Bill’s true nature seems darkly apparent, and both Margene and Barb are turning away from him (Margene dressed for career success and Barb suited for a stroll alone). Only Nicki remains “with” Bill, facing him as an equal (signifying their shared childhood at the compound). Let’s hope for some good results for these characters.
Nicki did say she wanted Bill for herself right? I don’t think the writers would say that for no reason.
I’ve always wanted all 3 wives to leave Bill and find a place for themselves in the world, but the idea of Barb and Margie leaving Bill to Niki also makes sense with the way season 4 ended (although I really miss Niki’s season 3 crush/boyfriend).
She is facing Bill, but her feet are turned away as if she’s trying to decide whether she should walk away with Barb and Margene.
So long as the show doesn’t suck like it did last season…it was kind of a chore to suspend that much disbelief.
Xander, I totally agree with you. Last season was painful. A huge letdown since season 2 and 3 were fantastic. I’m hoping for a great ending to a very under-rated show.
Please let Barb leave Bill. Actually, Bill deserves to be left totally alone at the end, with even with Nicki realizing she has control over her own life and does not have to live the “principle.” But really, at least Barb has to leave the SOB.
I’m hoping for that too. I really ended up hating him last season after all the sacrifices he made Don and his family, especially Barb, make. I was hoping that Barb wouldn’t stand with him on the podium but she ended up going up there. I hope she she stands up for herself and finally leaves him.
Nicki and Bill end up together on the compound! That’s what I’m thinking…
I’m most curious about Alby and what’s going to happen to him. His storyline was one of the only ones I liked from last season, and I wish that he’d break away, but…. It’s pretty clear he won’t.
Hopefully they can just pull a “Let’s forget Landry killed somebody and move on” with the whole Senate story and most of the whole casino storyline, and let Bill versus Alby take us through a season. I absolutely love the compound stories, I can’t stand Bill off the compound.
I think this show is always pretty unpredictable, but I am thinking perhaps something like SDTim suggested. The poster and the body language in it is interesting. Margene and Barb are looking foward but have their backs turned to Bill. Margene looks more grown-up than ever. Nikki is at the forefront and is the only one whose body is actually turned toward Bill.
Wow – Nicki looks great ! Guess she’s moving away from looking like the compound.
I think Barb is gonna leave him. She’s been pretty sick of it for a while.
Nicki cut her hair…that’s pretty significant!
I just hope they keep the casino storyline so I can see Adam Beach.
