'Skating With the Stars': And the winner is...

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen last night’s Skating With the Stars, do not click here! Otherwise, glide on over to the jump, where you can see who picked up the trophy. skating-stars-budigImage Credit: Adam Larkey/ABCAll My Children‘s Rebecca Budig and her partner Fred Palascak won the inaugural season of Skating With the Stars, edging out Bethenny Frankel of the Real Housewives of New York and her partner Ethan Burgess. The winners of the Golden Skates trophy were perfect in the judges’ eyes, receiving six perfect-10s in technical score and artistic impression for their performance to Katy Perry’s “Hot ‘N Cold.”

….which will be the last season. That show did absolutely terrible in the ratings. When it’s ranked 54th, 85th and 76th place the past 3 shows, there’s no chance it will come back. ABC should have put reruns of Castle and not get caught in that year round pattern of running a typical reality show at 8 pm. They did that all year with Bachelor, Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad and Dancing with the Stars. Can’t they just give it a break in December? It just doesn’t work every time!

    • Biden

The reruns of Castle they have been showing have tanked in the ratings as well

      • D’s Advocate

Plus, reality shows are generally cheaper to produce than scripted shows, so they need less ad revenue to be successful.

  • Jess

I didn’t watch…but I’m glad Greenlee won! Just like GH’s Sam won the first Dancing with the Stars.

    • jb

Same here! Didn’t watch Skating, but did watch Dancing. Way to go ABC Soaps girls!

    • Prunella Von Schleidlhaagen

      Me too!

      • jj

        Love your name.

  • SLB

Way more exciting than DWTS. I liked this show.

  • Betty

    Meh !

  • wysiwyg

*yawn* You don’t have to do much these days to be considered a star.

  • BeBe

I completely agree with everyone that the show was a big yawn however I do like Bethenny…

    • The Other Henry

I like Bethenny, too, but am so glad they didn’t give her the win. It looked like it was hers, and let’s face it, the winners are chosen by the networks. To me it felt like the squabbling between Bethenny and the judges was SO manufactured.

    • just sayin

why? do you know her or something? what’s with you people watching these reality “stars” and thinking that you know them and that you like them bc you want them to be your bff’s? for all you know,in real life the woman would have nothing to do with you. personally, i like my stars to have actual talent and/or to have worked hard for their fame/fortune. “real” people getting famous for being stupid enough to let the camera intrude into their “real” lives so we can see their inane drama annoys me. Don’t you people have lives on your own to deal with? Why are you watching someone else’s? At least with celeb reality shows, you are seeing a heightened lifestyle and having access into a world that non industry types don’t normally get to see…

      • len

In some cases posters DO know the people. Is it that hard to believe that a celeb or semi celeb has friend’s or aquaintances who come to websites like this? I doubt that applies here but it does sometimes..

  • Turanga Leela

I would say she did more than “edge out” Bethenny. And, yes, she will be the first and last winner of this train wreck.

  • Sam

Worst show ever. We need to fully think things through over here before we steal the Brits stuff. Next time lets grab Prince Harry…

    • just sayin

and do what with him? who cares about the royals other than the mindless sheeple who have bought into the media hype around them? and i’m talking to the americans here. they’re not your royalty so who really gives a rat’s arse?

      • Sam

You….um….yeah. It sounds like you need a little help, my friend. Lighten up. I won’t even try to explain my post, you’re not worth it. Lets hope for your sake I’m the only one that feels that way. Happy Holidays…

  • Anne

    They fall too much!

  • mary

Is there really a winner in this situation? I mean even if you win, you were still on Skating with the stars, which is pretty awful.

  • Todd

This is not the first season for this show. It was on a couple of seasons ago and Kristy Swanson won, I believe

    • bg

Yes, and she had an affair with her partner and he left his wife with a newborn. A great legacy.

      • just sayin

so i guess he should have stayed with a woman he didn’t love forever instead, being resentful of her and treating her like crap in front of their child who in turn would grow up with a view of relationships that would require him/her to need counseling? in a perfecft world everyone would marry the perfect person for them the first go round and live together in wedded bliss happily ever after. But it’s not a perfect world. This is reality, not a fairy tale. And reality is ugly and complicated a lot of the time. Get over it.

      • Jen

Were you just featured in the New York Times wedding vows section?

      • Bob

Just Sayin has a little issue with being condescending

    • Prunella Von Schleidlhaagen

That one was called Skating With Celebrities, I think, and it was a different network.

    • ST

I thought that was “Skating with Celebrities” (a completely different) show on Fox (a completely different network). Agree it was the same concept though.

    • kahuna

True, though the original show was on FOX.

  • Ruth

The final was a farce. It should have been between Rebecca & Johnnie Mosley. When he was eliminated Monday night, I refused to watch the final.

  • mostboringseasonever

Very glad to see Rebecca win. She deserved it with her beautiful skating. Jonny deserved to be in the finals; not Bethenny. Can we please retire Bethenny from appearing in any more reality shows? The woman has absolutely no class.

  • Namers

Good for RB, NOW will Greenlee take off those hideous black monster shoes puleese?!

  • e

It’s funny, about five years ago around Christmastime, Bethenny lost on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart (and the other woman winning was extremely obvious).
